Chapter 13 - THE NEED OF A LUNA

RAFAEL

He can't believe his three-year-old daughter was ordering him out of her room.

What a cute little monster she is.

He walked over to the bed and there he found her sitting on the cold tiled floor with a notebook and a colour pencil.

"What is my V drawing?"

She took a glance at him. She sniffles and her eyes seemed quite red. She must have cried a lot.

It broke Rafael to see his baby the way she was. He took a proper look at what his three-year-old was drawing, and to his greatest shock it was the image of a woman even though the drawing was rough, he could see the depiction of a woman.

His daughter was a genius he must say. There are things he believed were opportune for a child her age to do, but he finds his little V doing it.

He had long known that his child was a special one, he just haven't found the opportunity to find out who she truly was.

But then he was curious to know who the woman in his daughter's painting was.

"Who's she baby?"

She took another glance at him and smiled.

"Mama."

"Huh?"

This was strange. Petra died way before she could learn to talk. So he didn't understand who his daughter was referring to, or who the woman in her painting was.

"Baby, Mama isn't here, but you have dada!"

Rafael smiled as he said the words. But his daughter rather ignited him. She tore her gaze away from him as though she didn't know what he was talking about.

Was he that bad as a father?

"V... you are making daddy sad you know. I'm your daddy too. And daddy also deserves some love don't you think?"

What was he even saying, it's not like she would understand what he was trying to say anyways? He buried his face in his daughter's bed, sadly.

"Daddy?"

Rafael quickly raised his gaze to his daughter. She quickly left the drawing on the ground and climbed on the bed.

He quickly made way for her as she struggled to get on the bed.

And when she managed to climb on the bed, she immediately raised her hand towards him, wanting him to carry her. He quickly took her in his arms while he lay on the little bed with her.

Raphael felt the bliss of fatherhood. He wished they were this peaceful without worrying for a luna or a mother for his daughter. Seeing his daughter so peaceful made him believe that they could do without a woman figure in their lives.

He wished they would stop asking him for a luna. He does not have a luna for them. He knew of mateless Alphas who were just like him.

Although the moon goddess favoured them with a mate, it still does not change the fact that not all of them were blessed with a mate.

Unfortunately, he was among those who weren't blessed with a mate. He recalled for years back. He had thought Adriana was his mate. But after she had left the pack, he didn't have the nerve to believe so.

He realised that what he felt back then, was just attraction and infatuation which he refused to admit until the very end.

"Daddy...Mama," his daughter suddenly muttered the words. He peered down at her, only to find her soundly asleep.

She must have missed her Mama so much that she dreamt about her he suppose.

Rafael heaved a deep sigh. He wondered if things would have been different if Petra was still alive.

He was sure things would have been different.

Maybe his daughter wouldn't be pulling tantrums over her mother. He could understand how his daughter was feeling. Though he thinks it was too early for his daughter to notice the absence of her mother. It was strange, but then, that's his daughter and her wants. He would do anything within his power to see her happy, but in the terms of finding a partner, he wasn't sure he would be able to give his daughter what she wants. He wished he can, but from the look of things, it would be hard to give her exactly what she wants.

Rafael kissed his daughter on the crown of her head, before placing her properly on the bed so she could sleep. He admired her. She looked so much like him, then Petra. If she were a boy, he would have called her his reincarnation.

Seeing that she was fast asleep, Rafael began arranging his daughter's room and putting things in places where they ought to be. While arranging her room, he saw a picture of him and his daughter. The picture was taken when he took his daughter out. He remembered the last time he took her out was about six months ago.

What the hell? He wasn't being there for his daughter at all. He was supposed to take her out to have fun. But so far, he seemed to be neglecting his duties which isn't right. He ought to be taking her out more often.

Maybe if he did, she wouldn't be throwing so many tantrums. He wasn't always there, and for that reason, she would need. A mother figure.

It was then, that Rafael understood what his daughter wanted was for him to be there for her at all times. This was all his fault. He should have known.

After he had tidied the room, he called for aunt Philly in his office.

"I went to see her now Alpha Rafael, she's fast asleep now."

Rafael smiled feeling accomplished.

"Aunt Philly, I know V needs to be taken out, and I understand that I've not been trying as a father. So, this weekend, I plan on taking her out. Free up her schedule and yours for the weekend so we can all go out.

"I'm happy you've finally come around Alpha. But you still need to consider getting yourself a-"

"Aunt Philly, that will be all, see you next time."
