Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 : Crafting.

< Yellow mutant zombie core has been obtained. >

< Core can be consumed. >

--------

Yeah, I know, you don't have to remind me..

< Got it. >

I quickly climbed my way up from the ditch to find a place to consume the yellow mutant zombie core as I don't know exactly what will happen when It goes into my body.

As soon as I got out I made the run for it since the hunters that set up the trap could be coming back anytime soon to check up on their trap.

I walked out of the building and roamed 4-5 blocks away and found an old bank. I entered and found an enclosed office from when the apocalypse didn't occur yet. This was the place I chose to consume the yellow mutant zombie core. I took out the core from my old tattered bag strapped to my waist, it was in bad condition but still undoubtably usable. I held the gem and inspected it closely.

...

[Item: Yellow mutant zombie Core]

-Consumable-

[Effects: Increases stats substantially and (possibly) give a skill.]

[Description: A core formed within the body of zombies after achieving a certain stage.]

...

A skill..?

I glanced at the word " skill " and smiled happily. After which I immediately gulped down the entire yellow core.

< Yellow mutant zombie core consumed. >

< Vitality 13+, Strength 9+, Stamina 11+, Agility 14+, Dexterity 4+ >

< Skill: " Height growth " obtained. >

I felt my body change as my stats increased and my information flowed to my brain about the skill manipulation.

Height growth.. huh.. must be the reason why that abomination was so tall.

System, inspect skill, height growth.

...

[ Height growth ]

[ Skill description: Increases user's height by 10-50 cm permanently and boosts all stats except dexterity by 4. ( height can be adjusted and skill can be turned on and off. ) ]

...

This is a really interesting skill. It would be really useful when fighting off huge hordes, but when it comes to a one vs one fight, it wouldn't be that useful. Since fighting against higher stage zombies would require a lot of flexibility and nimbleness.

Anyways, it was a good harvest. I am satisfied with the results. I guess it's back to farming those standard zombies.. I should treasure how easy it is to level up with them.

I wonder if it's possible to craft things, I mean this is like a game system afterall..

< Yes, it is possible to craft things via the crafting interface. >

As I finished reading what the panel in front of me says, another one popped up and it read " Crafting interface. " I swiftly started checking out what kind of things I could make. There's an inventory system too right?

< Yes there is. You can just call out inventory to open it. >

Damn.. so I've been walking around with this destroyed pouch on my waist for no absolute reason?

...

Inventory!

The inventory interface popped up and.. yeah.. it was empty. I went back to the crafting interface and tried to test out a couple of things about it. Apparently, you can just stuff a couple of things into it and chant out the name of the item you want to create and then It'll start crafting the item. Your dexterity plays a role here since you need control to be able to craft the item properly.

I went and gathered some materials that are present around me and placed them in my inventory and soon enough, there were quite the amount of things that are being kept in my inventory.

...

[ Inventory ]

-Stone pebbles x23

-Broken pieces of wood x5

-Rope 11x

-Flint pieces 6x

...

Seems good enough, there are a lot of natural resources around ever since the catastrophe. Alright, let's try to make myself a basic flint knife.

I opened up both the crafting interface and the inventory interface and took out x5 stone pebbles, 2 broken pieces of wood 1x, rope x3, and flint pieces x3. I assumed I would at least need that many things to build a knife, pebbles, and wood as the foundation, rope as the binder, and flint as the main material. I stuffed it in the crafting interface and chanted out " knife ".

Immediately after I requested a knife. It started glowing and a percentage bar popped up at the top.

The materials started fusing into each other, and with each step of the crafting fusion, I have to focus all my mental energy on combining them together without any complications. As any mistake would cause the item to be destroyed or drop in quality.

With my high dexterity stats, it wasn't that much of a problem and after 5-6 minutes of crafting, it was completed.

...

[ Item: Basic flint knife. ]

Weapon Grade: Common

Durability: 100/100

Damage: 15

[ Skills: None ]

[ Passive skills: None ]

...

Not bad, not bad at all. It's my first time so it being this mundane is pretty much expected. Let's go test this new weapon out shall we?

I proceeded to go find a couple and tested the knife on them. It slashed through their meaty bodies like butter, it was actually quite fun. It felt much more civilized compared to just going around biting the heck out of a random zombie's neck.

< Ding! You've leveled up! >

< You are now level 9. >

< All stat points 3+ >

Woah, ahem.. I might've gotten a little out of hand there.
