Woah, ahem.. I might've gotten a little out of hand there.
--------
The moon sure is beautiful out here though.
The crafting skill is something I definitely have to keep improving on. Since obviously, tools and weapons are better than using bare hands to fight. I'll certainly keep working on this skill, then maybe I'll find my sister faster...
...
I started quickly moving to find any zombies to kill or new places to explore. A couple of minutes later of walking, I stumbled upon a water puddle and saw my reflection alongside a moon that shined brightly behind me.
Eh? is this what I look like? at first, I felt that my throat was destroyed since I couldn't speak, not even a single word would come out of my mouth. So why does my throat.. and neck look like it regenerated and actually look like it's undamaged?
Was this something I obtained from the gem? Let's try speaking.
Hmm.. what to say.. I suppose " I want to taste food. " could do the job.
" Grrahh.. Ai.. warrnt tuu.. tasee fooood.. "
Yep, still needs work after all. But at least I can say semi-understandable words now. Way better than before.
...
*thump thump thump..*
Wait! Footsteps? It's coming from the alleyway from next block!
I hurriedly ran to check what was happening there as zombies won't move unless there is a human or animal to prey upon. The most they do is walk off from time to time. So running should beyond any doubt be something or someone!
" Alissa!! RUN!!! "
I arrived and watched as a man defend a little girl from the zombies as she quickly ran away. This very much reminded me of my sister, which gave me a bitter feeling.
" PAPA!! " screamed the little girl.
The zombies took no time overpowering the one man, as the little girl ran away.
I had to save the kid. I know I shouldn't be acting like some righteous hero but I can't just leave a little girl that's even younger than my sister to die!
I jumped out and outran the zombies and grabbed the little girl and ran off.
" Uwehh.. w-who are you mister!? " screamed the little girl.
I paid no mind as to what she was saying after that since I had to focus on running away from the horde of zombies chasing us. Thankfully my stats are high and I can easily outrun them. Their movements were clumsy and without coordination, some of them even tripped and fell as they were chasing us. Though to an ordinary human, they were still quite fast.
...
I outran the zombies and went inside an isolated building. I was quite familiar with some of the checkpoints at the place since I gathered some information before setting off with my sister to find the GVR base, and supposedly this place used to be a safe point.
I stopped running as soon as I arrived on the third floor where the zombies wouldn't easily find us and put the little girl down.
" E..-eh? Mister.. you are a zombie! Did.. *hic* you take me here to eat me by yourself?? " said the little girl as little droplets of tears flowed down her red puffed cheeks.
" Aii.. woin't.. eat.. yu. "
Blurring the sentence out, I was surprised that it was better than before and felt that my tongue was easier to control.
" Really.. but zombies eat people.. you guys are bad! " cried the little girl in a low voice.
She's well educated. But just so you know I was a human before little girl! Her name was Alissa, right? That's what that man screamed out when he got overthrown by the zombies.
" Ai'm..a good.. zombye.. "
" Really..? *hic hic* so you won't eat me right..? " asked the little girl.
" Yes.. "
As I said she started crying, tears that shined like crystals flowed down her cheeks. Almost at the point of obtaining a core now, I could somewhat control the virus cells in my body to become docile and refrain them from infecting people.
I laid her down on my lap and patted her head as she was crying.
" Papa.. please guide us from heaven.. " cried out the little girl.
It aches to see somebody this young lose someone so close to them, especially when their bond was a father and daughter. From what she said, I guess she has already accepted reality. He has really taught her well huh.. what a strong girl she is.
" He.. will be.. proud of.. you. "
I said as I looked down upon her puffy eyes swollen from crying. She kept crying softly, the cries were full of sorrow and a sense of longing for her father, but I couldn't do anything else but be there and try to comfort her.
