Chapter 10 - Origin Unknown 2

Nothing could have prepared him for what he saw in front of him. "Bring them in" was the command he received, and he gestured to them with a sign from his hand indicating to follow him. Still with a blank expression on his face, the man looked at the young girl. "He wants us to follow him, I guess," he replied, nodding. At that moment, a sign to stop and a shush came from the boy who was looking around.

Suddenly, from nowhere, three men appeared from three different directions, each one of them holding a weapon in their hands that looked like a short spear and wearing a black overall uniform. The one closest to the boy spoke with him and said something, and the boy pointed at them.

Then he gave the other two who came with him some orders, and each one of them moved in a different direction than the other and moved in haste. The man came straight to them, with Raco following behind him and stopping in front of them. The man looked back at Raco and asked him, "How many languages did you try with them." Raco answered, "Just one." Feeling that he made a mistake, he continued, "The chip analyzed that they are not from our plant, so I didn't see the need to continue talking to them."

Inside the chief elder room, on a large round table, sat eight men who were sitting and discussing the news they received a few minutes ago from Raco, the guard who was on duty outside the barrier, most of them disbelieving what they heard and looking at the monitor that was streaming live from the site. "They don't look like an alien to me," one of them said, trying to convince himself first of all. The chief silenced the voices that started whispering in the room after that comment, and pointing to the screen, he said, "Just look and listen."

........

In this dark cell room that is shaking like an earthquake, under the table I couldn't get anything to grab on except the legs of the table, which were luckily fixed in the ground so nobody could move them. The shaking lasted for almost twenty seconds and then it stopped the same way that it started, I had to stay for a few more minutes before coming out of the table to check my surroundings once more and see if there was any change, but there was none at all, not even a single particle of dust or sand, neither from the ceiling nor the walls, which made me wonder more and more what's going on here, and where I am.

Just wishing if I could get an answer to just one of the questions that are on my mind, just one answer was enough to put me at ease, at the very least; I now have a chance to get answers to the remaining questions on my mind.

In the midst of all this confusion and the deep thought I was in, I failed to notice the biggest change in the room. While I was looking for sand or dust in the room from the earthquake, behind me, on the opposite side of the metal bar of the jail cell, stood a woman in a white dress, looking at me like she was studying my actions and reactions with the sound of clearing her throat. "EHEM," she grabbed my attention, and I looked back.

Emika, full of anticipation and worry, went down to the cell rooms immediately after she had been informed that they had caught the intruder and arrested him as per her orders. As soon as she reached his location and stood in front of his cell, everything started shaking around her. This was the first time in her life that she witnessed something like this.

Though earthquakes were something that was not that common in occurring where he lived, it was still known and happened a few times in different palaces.  That was not the strange thing here. But the strange thing was how an earthquake could happen in a palace that was not on earth at all but in a different space completely.

Because the entire detention facility was constructed in space outside of the plant, rather than on the planet itself, how could an earthquake occur in space outside of the globe?

What was a stranger to her was his reaction to the quake. As for herself, she didn't move from her location and didn't bother taking any actions at all, but what he did was totally different. He hid under the table, like the table would help him if the whole ceiling came down on him.

It's time to sort things out and figure out where this young man, or should I say young boy, is coming from or what he's doing here as she gets closer to him. noticed that he is not what she thought of him in her dreams. He is much younger than what she thought, at most, he is fourteen or fifteen years old. Coming closer to the gate, she started asking questions one after another.

"What is your name?"

"Where did you come from?"

"What exactly are they doing here?"

"How old are you?"

"What is your purpose for hiding under the table during the quake?"

"Did you cause this quake to happen?"

"Do you understand what I am asking?"

I think the last question is what I was supposed to start with, thought Emika to herself after noticing the blank expression on the boy's face, clearly showing that he didn't understand even a single word of the barrage of questions she assaulted him with.

After a long five minutes of staring at each other with no result at all, Emika gave up first and looked at the boy standing in front of her, who hadn't say a single word for the last fifteen minutes. She tried all the languages she was aware of that are spoken on this vast planet, but apparently, the boy didn't understand any of them. The last available option for her was to use the computer and scan him with it. The only reason she didn't start with that was the sense of familiarity that she felt towards the boy.

"Computer, start scanning this individual and give me a full report." Lifting her wrist up and talking to the computer chip implanted in her wrist, she gave that command, "scanning…scanning' "human physiology detected." "No biological enhancement detected," "no trace of its DNA detected." Conclusion: "Origin Unknown."
