There was so much noise when we first entered the 'Sia A.'
The place was filled with people. Apart from loud music, people's chattering could be heard.
I've never been too eager to either have a drink or go to the dance floor. I think too loud music and sweaty bodies are not to my taste. But I could see Jane's body moving on the beats.
As I made my way inside, I took Jane's hand in mine. I did not want to lose my friend, just yet.
"Come on, let us sit somewhere first," I said with a loud voice. I could feel my voice ringing in my throat, and yet it did not reach my ears.
The music was just too loud. But I guess Jane might have understood what I was trying to say. She laughed as she walked with me before we found a much quieter place to sit.
As soon as we sat, Jane started scrolling through her phone. She looked at me, blinking her eyes and I knew right away what she wanted.
I guess Jane was informing her boyfriend that she was here, maybe he would come to pick her up.
"You just tell me what you want and I'll get it for you,'' I said as I saw Jane smiling.
"Anything that you like," Jane said as she got busy on her phone again.
I shook my head as I looked around at the people. I like quiet places although I did not hate it here. Although I did not hate the party or the pub I was not a frequent visitor of one.
I made my way as I saw people drinking and dancing. Their bodies move with the music.
I walked towards the bar as I gave the bartender our order. I was waiting and decided to look around before my drinks were served. The bodies of the people moved around with the music, their hands going up and down as their waists moved like a wave. I never understood how to do it, after all, I was a bad dancer. It was as if my body did not know what tune was because it could never understand the rhythm.
It was then that a voice said. "Can I order you something?"
I was frightened as I moved back, my heart was beating faster and my eyes widened in shock. This was not the first time I've met someone at the bar, but it was definitely a first when someone was this close to me.
I hated this feeling. I looked at the man's face as he was observing mine. I never liked the way some man looked at me as if they were observing me and ranking me in their mind.
I swallowed hard but my brain was sending me signals that I might be in danger.
I shook my head as I denied him. "No thanks,"
I tried to concentrate my eyes on the dance floor but my beating heart did not calm down. I hated people who would judge others by the way they looked. As if their heart and behavior did not matter. What is the use of beauty if after a particular period of time the lady is going to kill you? What is one going to do with a small and slim waist, when the lady just takes all your money and runs away leaving you bankrupt?
I thought as a smile formed on my face. This was a topic many people avoided.
I knew that the man was the wealthy one. He was wearing the best of suits. Expensive watch and shoes of premium quality. But that didn't matter when the man gave me a whole new creepy feeling.
[It was better to avoid such people.] I told myself as I avoided the man but I could sense how he was staring at me that he was yet to give up.
The bartender gave me two drinks. "Here you go."
I smiled at him, "Thank you." I was about to take the drink when the man's hand came in between as he said. "Let me help you."
His voice was low as he took a step towards me, but before I could react, I heard Jane's sarcastic tone.
"Oh my god, I never knew you would be so eager to bring my drinks to my table?" Jane laughed as she took the drinks herself and protectively stood in front of me.
"When did you take this job?" Jane raised her eyebrows as she continued, "Or did your father stop giving you money?"
The man did not reply. It was as if his gaze was filled with rage but yet his lips were sealed.
The man ignored Jane as his eyes shifted on me. "Do you know her?" His voice was filled with desperation as he raised his eyebrows. I could sense that his whole body was screaming 'Say NO.'
I laughed as I found it amusing, "Yes, she is one of my friends."
"I am her best friend," Jane replied as she cut through me. Her eyes shooting blades at the man.
I wish I could just sit back and have a sip of drink to enjoy the situation but then I saw the man bite his lips as he turned around and started walking in the opposite direction. Before I could understand anything, Jane took hold of my wrist and pulled me towards our seat.
"I shouldn't have brought you here. There are too many bugs." I looked at Jane who was murmuring in annoyance.
"You know him?" I asked. Although I knew the answer by looking at their interaction I still wanted to know it from her.
"Oh, that person?" Jane shrugged her shoulders, "Don't think too much into him, his family has too much money that has corrupted his brains."
I nodded my head and yet I could not understand one thing, how did Jane know him? As if knowing what I would ask her next, Jane drank the drink as she got up in a hurry. "Let me just enjoy."
Jane went to the dance floor as she started loosening up. She turned around and looked at me as she called me to join her but I simply shook my head.
