Two Days Later
_________________
Liam was really excited, today was the day he was leaving for the city. It was only for a month but still this would be his first time leaving the Clan since he had transmigrated.
Ethan has packed his stuff and was helping him get ready. Liam didn't really need help but he didn't say anything because he knew that Ethan was in a bad mood. He has been like that since Lucien told him about it two days ago. Liam was a little worried about him.
"Stop looking at me like that okay! I'm fine." Ethan said softly when he saw Liam looking at him worriedly. Liam just kept looking at him until he sighed and picked him up. He then sat down on the bed with Liam in his arms.
"It's just that, I'm a little worried about you. It's nothing serious I mean you're going with your grandpa you'll be fine. I just... Take care of yourself okay? Don't get into trouble." Ethan said as he smiled at him.
"You know I'll be gone for a month at most, right? You make it sound like it'll be years before we see each other again." Liam asked him with his head cocked.
"Just promise me, you brat." Ethan glared at him and tickled him, making Liam laugh and flinch.
"Okay! Okay! I promise. I promise." Liam said in between laughs.
Ethan stopped then picked up something from his bed. He gave the bundle to Liam.
"I almost forgot. These are combat clothes. I made them for you with a built in shield and tracking system. In case you are in danger." Ethan told him after seeing his confusion.
Liam took them and looked at them. They reminded him of clothes characters wore in anime. He quickly took off what he was wearing, behind the screen of course, and wore them. He then looked in the mirror. It was a shirt and pants, the pants were wholly made of leather while the shirt was made of a form fitting but light and breezy material.
The shirt had a short jacket and belts over it. They had lots of pockets, were comfortable and easy to move in. The shirt was white while the belt and jacket was brown.
"I like them but didn't you just tell me not to fight? Your sending mixed signals." Liam said as he grinned.
"Stupid." He flicked Liam's forehead. "Everyone wears stuff like this when travelling, the clothes you have are mostly home wear. I made a few moreof these for you. I have packed them with rest of your stuff." Ethan chuckled and ruffled his hair.
"Let's go eat. Show the clothes to your Uncle. He doesn't believe in my designing skills." Ethan said and they both went downstairs.
--------------
"What are you wearing Liam? It's hurting my eyes." Lucien said as soon as he saw him. He was wearing a yellow apron and cooking bacon.
"What you are wearing is hurting my eyes!" Liam said as he laughed at Lucien's yellow apron. It had ducks on it.
"What I'm wearing, gives you food. Okay! Have some respect." Lucien said annoyingly and picked Liam up, only to drop him in the chair.
"Keep calling my designs ugly and you will be wearing a bright pink one next time." Ethan said as he kissed Lucien and then sat down.
"Stop doing all this, this early in the morning." Liam's grandfather said as he gagged while entering the kitchen. His name was Maddox by the way.
"Maybe you should sleep in your own house then." Lucien said as he placed his breakfast. Maddox just rolled his eyes and started eating. Liam laughed at their daily banter.
"Okay! You two should eat quickly and get going if you don't want the city to be closed when you reach it. And remember Liam I'm fine with you leaving but you should try to stay out of trouble as much as possible. And you Father, don't baby him but don't leave him to deal with everything on his own." Lucien said seriously.
"You're making me confused. And I can take care of my own grandson." Maddox grinned at Liam, Lucien just stared at him until his smile faded and he sighed.
"Fine! I promise."
"Thank you Father." Lucien said and looked pointedly towards Liam.
"Don't worry Ethan, Uncle Lucien I'll do my best to stay out of trouble." Liam said and Lucien finally smiled.
"Now eat and leave, before Ethan here, changes his mind."
Ethan smiled as he pinched Lucien. Lucien dodged him but stumbled as Liam jumped at him from behind. Both of them tried to subdue him. While Maddox took out a flask from his pocket and took a swing when no one was watching.
-----------
Liam looked out the window in awe as clouds appeared and disappeared outside the window. His mouth dropped open in shock as he saw a few people flying with wings on their backs.
"Bloody Angels." His grandfather cursed at them as he glanced out the window.
He had some old hatred with angels. It was really just a petty fight that his grandfather refused to let go of. At least that's what Lucien said when he had asked him.
Liam was awestruck after all it was his first time seeing an angel. Besides they were one of the mythical creatures, humans in his original world loved to talk about. Although only the religious ones. Of course the ones here were different from the ones religious people believed in.
In the book, the ML believed them to be hypocrites but the ML's morals were questionable so, Liam decided to keep an open mind.
He sat back and looked at Demyx. In his excitement he had totally forgotten about the system. He nearly shouted after getting on the ship when he finally remembered him. Fortunately for Liam, Demyx had gotten on the ship on his own. He wasn't really pleased with his forgetfulness but just looked at him sighed like a mother does after looking at her son who is mentally disabled.
Speaking of which, at first Demyx looked like an ordinary black puppy. But Liam noticed that there were purple patterns appearing on his body. They were really dark so you couldn't notice it under good lightning. He also had a bump on his forehead, between his eyes to be exact. It reminded Liam of the bumps on his own forehead. They were a little different though.
Lucien had pointed out all these changes but no one listened to him. Liam had always thought that Demyx wasn't an ordinary dog, after all who will come to a world full of mythical creatures and decide to become an ordinary dog. Not a bright minded person.
Ding!
Liam was pulled out of his thoughts by the sound. He looked in front of him in daze and saw the screen he hasn't seen in a while.
[Side Task #1]
[Find Michail Christos]
[Reward: Unknown]
[Accept] [Reject]
Liam was a little confused the information was really brief, how the heck was he supposed to find this Michail in so many people?
"Just accept it. The information will be given to you when time." Demyx's voice appeared in his head and he accepted it.
The screen disappeared and Liam frowned. Although he was excited to complete a mission, this also meant that he would have to face a lot of dangers. He was only 6 and the promise he made to Lucien and Ethan...
"Get ready we'll be landing in 5 minutes."
He was pulled out of his thoughts by his grandfather. He shook his head, this wasn't the time to think. He should get ready.
---------------
He walked down the stairs behind his grandfather. A huge ship was floating behind them. That was his grandfather's traveling tool unlike his Uncle, his grandfather loved to be flashy. After all he was a dragon and they were known to be arrogant. His Uncle was prideful in his own way too. He was just elegantly arrogant while his grandfather was show off arrogant.
Anyways the soul tool was controlled by a bracelet his grandfather was wearing. He inserted his magic in the bracelet and controlled the ship. The bigger the tool, the more magic it took to control it. Going around in a ship this big was just like telling everyone that I am powerful.
Liam looked up and nearly dropped his mouth again at the sight in front of him. There huge walls at least a 100 meters in length. They were made of a metal like material and shined softly in Sun.
"Surprised huh! Don't show it though, I need you to act like an arrogant young master." His grandfather said when he saw him looking at the walls.
"Why so specific?" Liam asked cautiously, he loved his grandfather but his mind was full of the craziest ideas and Liam didn't want to be involved in them.
"You're my grandson, that's why. I don't mean that you should be rude but show a little pride. You're a dragon, arrogance is something that should run in your veins. Besides it's a really good way to protect yourself, the more arrogant you are the more people will be afraid thinking that you have a great backing."
His grandfather talked as they walked towards the gate. The ship was supposed to be left there until they were allowed to enter, they could park it inside after that, or they could just pay the guards to do it for them.
"The bigger the city, the harder to control. It's filled with people of all kinds. If you don't have someone to back you up, people will just make you a slave, a prostitute all kinds of stuff."
"This is a test to see how you deal with different situations in real life not that simulation machine thingy. I'll let you in on a secret, if you do good your Uncle was planning on sending you to one of those big academies."
His Grandfather calmly skipped the line and walked to the front. His arm around Liam's shoulder as he talked. The people in the line glared at them but his Grandfather ignored them. Liam choosing to trust his grandfather, put an arrogant expression on his face and walked briskly.
Demyx was sitting on his Grandfather's shoulder, with an indifferent expression. He had the face of a dog but you could still tell that he was looking down on you. He was even more arrogant then Maddox. Like a king looking on his subjects. His purple markings shining due to the Sun.
His Grandfather stopped in front of the guards and threw a few gold coins at them.
"Your identification?" The guard asked cautiously, and a pattern slowly appeared on Maddox's forehead. It reminded Liam of the elven crowns in games and movies. But the one on Maddox's forehead was more like a tattoo. It was blue in color with silvery white swirls, it looked like something related to the Cloud Dragon Clan.
Whatever it was made the guard stop asking any further and open the gate. The smaller one, which was made for people to pass. 'He would ask his grandfather about this tattoo later.' Liam thought.
"What is the meaning of this? You old man stop right there!" A man shouted, he was the first in line. Probably angry at them, for cutting the line.
He had extremely pale skin. Everyone in Liam's Clan had pale skin but it was different, it didn't make them look dead. The man was probably a vampire, considering the dark cloak he was wearing. After all vampires and demons were probably the only one going around wearing such dark cloaks.
The man extended his arm trying to grab Liam. A heavy pressure suddenly appeared stilling his movements and making him nearly fall down. If he wasn't wrong they were probably his Grandfather's pheromones, he was a dominant alpha after all.
Liam was trying to figure out the situation when his Grandfather dragged him away. No one stopped them again. As they walked through the gate, Liam couldn't help but ask.
"Why did we have to do that though? Isn't it unfair?"
"You're still too naive, boy. I've beem wanting to talk to you about this. This is also the reason why your Uncle sent you with me. He wants you to get used to the real world. The world isn't like life in the Clan. If you're too soft people will eat you alive. You think if the guy outside was as powerful as me, he would have waited in line? If he was more powerful than me, I would be the one standing in line and he the one cutting it."
He smiled at Liam and continued.
"You probably think your Uncle and Ethan were over reacting. But they weren't worrying wrongly, you're too nice and kind. They're worried that you won't be able to handle the outside world. "
"Now I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be nice but be careful who the other person is. We love you the way you are. We're just worried you'll trust the wrong person."
He sighed and picked Liam up. "Do you get what I'm trying to say? I'm not really good at this stuff."
"I understand!" Liam said softly and smiled at his grandfather. Maddox was right, during his stay with them, he had almost forgotten that this was a new world with new rules.
There were so many different races living together, it was impossible for them to live peacefully. That's why although there were no wars right now, it wasn't all that peaceful. Not all races were like humans, they had different morals and stuff. Just take Dragons, their morals were totally different from humans.
"You're going to miss everything if you keep daydreaming." His Grandfather's voice reminded him, about the city he was excited to see.
He patted his Grandfather's arm, asking him to put him down, as he looked around and was once again shooked. There were people of all races walking around. The noise reminded him of Cities in his original world.
He saw an elven woman walking around as she complained to someone on a magic tool, it was probably a communicator. She had white hair, tan skin and blue or green eyes, he couldn't tell. Her ears were long and pointed, just like he had imagined.
He looked away and immediately focused on what seemed to be a group of werewolves. They were rowdy and laughed loudly as they walked. All of them had different hair colors but they weren't too different from the natural hair colors in his world. Most of them had brown hair, two had black and one had the rare white colour.
Liam noticed that they walked surrounding the one with white hair, like protecting him in case of danger. He could tell they were werewolves due to his sense of smell being enhanced after completing his first shift.
One of the black heads in the group looked towards him probably noticing his staring. Liam wasn't the only one with enhanced senses. Slowly everyone in the group looked towards him.
He looked towards his grandfather and, Lo and Behold the man had disappeared to God only knows where, along with Demyx.
Liam had a feeling he was in trouble.
