Sun Li Jun was quick to understand the young lady's explanation. But, yet another question occurred to him after hearing her words.
"Based on your calm attitude, I don't really think that monster is terrifyingly powerful, so why so many players.....? "
Being suddenly stared at by those indifferent piercing dark blue eyes, Lee Nari turned a bit stiff and nervous. Granted, Sun Li Jun simply gave her a brief questioning look at the end of his words. But, this unexpectedly made the other tense for no reason.
Lee Nari quickly concealed her nervousness with a smile as she replied.
"um... good question, gege.
It's because.....there's a penalty.
You will see, gege. "
'Oh my god.... Is he a westerner? No, he looks more like an asian. He got those gorgeous dark blue eyes though. But, that sent chills down my spine.'
Lee Nari fidgeted with her spell book. She wanted to continue the conversation with Sun Li Jun and maybe even wanted to get stared at by those piercing blue eyes once more.
However, she was hesitant since the other person didn't actually seem like a sociable person.
The young lady was wrestling with her own inner thoughts when she heard a beeping sound and got a notification from her system. Sun Li Jun also got one. In fact, all the players in the village simply got the same notifications.
[Warning: A C-rank boss is intruding into Crimson Flower Village. ]
[ Emergency quest for all the players in the village : Defeat the boss as soon as possible. ]
[ Reward: 10 silver coins for all the players in the village.
Random treasure cubes, rune orbs, and bonus 10 gold coins for the players who deal more than 10% damages to the boss. ]
[ Penalty: Every time 10 NPC villagers die due to the boss monster, each player's stats will be decreased by 5% for 24 hours. ]
Now, Sun Li Jun got the exact answer to his question.
Even if it was only 24 hours, no players wanted to get hindered by their decreased stats in defeating other monsters. To let very few NPCs get killed, some must protect NPC villagers while others were taking down the boss. To avoid the penalty, all the players had to work together.
But, a C-rank boss...?
Why with rank but no level like players?
Sun Li Jun wondered at what level that C-rank boss should be.
Swirling his sheathed punch dagger in one hand, Sun Li Jun pondered. No matter at what level that monster was, it would be more powerful than him in any aspects.
Right now, he was only a mere level-1 player with an E-grade weapon. Even if the monster showed up, he could only stay still and watch other players taking care of it.
Just as Sun Li Jun finished reading emergency quest on his information window, he heard a spine-chilling roar of a creature what sounded like a bear followed by a beeping noise.
[The presence of a C-rank boss is detected near the player.
Killing intent has been detected. ]
'Fuck my luck.'
Sun Li Jun reflexively moved his body out of the way. Thanks to his natural instincts, the young male managed to avoid the fate of being torn apart by the black bear's vicious claws only by an inch.
Who said the boss monster was gracefully coming into the village using this street where all the other players were waiting for it and let itself mercilessly get beaten up black and blue?
Could it not take a shortcut and come to confront ability users only after grabbing some beverages in a tavern?
"Jesus Christ.....
This boss just tore down the whole tavern and killed villager NPCs inside while we're waiting for it to show up on the street. "
"I was wondering how come I couldn't even see the boss when my instincts were telling that it was already nearby. Turned out it was coming from an unexpected direction. "
" Pitch black fur as charming as night....What a beautiful beast....
Come to papa and taste my sword! "
" You damn beast... here! Eat my ice daggers. "
Numerous ability users charged forwards and attacked the black bear-type monster boss.
"Players below level-5 are to protect villager NPCs."
Just as those words fell, Lee Nari pointed at dwellings around the damaged tavern where some players were urging NPC villagers to leave for a safer place.
"It's already almost like a tradition in this village, Gege. "
Not wiling to see the handsome Gege she's just met, to get terminated so quickly by the boss, Lee Nari chose to tell Sun Li Jun a safer thing to do. But, the response she got was rather unexpected.
"It's a boring task....I'm not doing it. "
Sun Li Jun bluntly answered before walking over to the poor tavern the bear just tore down. Leaning against the tavern's wall, he leisurely watched the scene of battle between the boss and several other players.
Lee Nari was rendered speechless. But, she just sheepishly smiled. And, in the next second, the young lady also prepared to join others in beating down the beast.
"Brother, aren't you joining too? "
"No... I hate fighting alongside other players who aren't my teammates."
Adjusting his mask, Lee kwang-sun answered with an uninterested tone.
"I don't really think they are coming soon. Well then, I'm going."
Opening her magic book and mumbling a spell, Lee Nari lept up into the air as sparkly purple light surrounded herself. In the next second, she joined other players and started attacking the boss with her purple fire magic.
'These players are getting defeated sooner or later.
The boss has the aura of the strongest C-rank monster. It's not some low level boss they can handle.'
Lee kwang-sun inwardly made a remark as he stared over yonder where the gate of the village was located. His teammates should better be showing up soon.
Lee kwang-sun knew that it's not possible even for a level-20 mage like himself to take down the boss by himself.
=======
[ More than 20 NPC villagers has been killed by the boss. ]
[ All the players in the village shall receive punishment. ]
[ Each player's stats has been decreased by 10%. ]
[ If more than half of the local NPCs in Crimson Flower Village die, it will end in a more severe penalty. ]
"Ah..... what?! I only have a few stamina points left after fighting the boss. This useless system is not helping me at all! "
" We've got very few healers in the village. I don't think we'll be recuperating and recovering our HP soon. "
"Of course, which fool will play 'War Cry Online' just to wander around in the virtual world and heal all the other players? "
"So, are we just letting the boss kill villager NPCs as it wishes?"
"No yeah. We have no other choice. "
Lee Nari was helped by her brother to rest in a corner of the damaged tavern.
"I've already turned on the pain reduction mode. But, it still hurts."
Grasping her injured arm, Lee Nari sat down on the ground. Seeing Sun Li Jun also standing at a place nearby, she glanced over her brother's shoulders to take a look at him.
"What are you looking at him for? That bastard doesn't even help or spare a single glance at you. "
Sun Li Jun who was standing at a not-so-far distance didn't fail to overhear Lee kwang-Sun.
If all the thing happening right now was reality, he might do something to help these wounded people. After all, he was not that heartless. Or maybe he was?
But, right now, it was only a game. Are all the gamers in 'War Cry Online' not fools, entering this virtual world just to experience the thrill of life and death situations and ruthless battles?
So, why would he need to sympathize all these crazy gamers for? If they got terminated, they could create another character at any time and continue playing.
This was not a fuckin place where he was willing to show fake sympathy towards others so that people will see him as a good boy. Besides, he was not so much as in the position that could help others either. Right now, he was only a godforsaken level-1 player.
"Do you want me to help her?
Is it that painful?
I can tell you a practical way by which you won't even need the help of a healer.
Just.....log.....out. "
