At midnight, the Cahill hunters gathered and buried one of their own. The cemetery was located alongside the vault that stood beneath the Roxbury Town sign. They had carried Damien's coffin at back of Marcus's Ford truck. It was a swift process and Mallory was already shedding tears.
They turned the vault open and the ground sank low and revealed a stairwell. He held one end of the coffin while his father held the other. In a minute, they were inside the vault. It was cool and familiar to Rule. He hadn't been inside here in over ten years.
Marcus flipped the switch and light lined the overhead walls. They moved deeper and deeper, crossing the vault that housed the Cahill valuables. Ages of bounties collected and unused. There was so much they could store in banks and wouldn't be questioned, but they had reached that limit a long time ago. The remainders came down here and the hollow space had almost filled out.
