When I got back I went straight to the kitchen for food. After all, I just worked nonstop for six or seven hours so obviously I was hungry. I grabbed a plate and put a slice of pizza from the fridge on it and put it in the microwave to heat up. Then I hunted down the dr.pepper and grabbed a glass. Then I poured some pop into it.
After I ate and finished my pop I cleaned my dishes and, nervously, headed to find Derrick. The only thing I was worried about, besides possibly upsetting him, was whether or not he would actually be willing to talk to me here. I mean miss lies a lot was here as well so he probably won't.
Well, like Andrew said, only one way to find out I guess. I headed to the library and as I did I happened to pass by her, so I ignored the bitch as I walked past.
"Oh, look who finally decided to come back. What? Were you too embarrassed to face me?" I immediately rolled my eyes at her and continued to walk away.
Although I really wanted to tell her that she couldn't even scare a fly let alone me. But I was not going to get into a fight with her right now. Not when I needed to talk to Derrick without getting into a fight.
Further down the hall Sue was standing there talking to Tyler, her other brother. She instantly beamed at me happily and threw her arms around my neck as soon as I got close enough. I smiled and hugged her back as I looked at Tyler for some sort of explanation. He rolled his eyes at me but thankfully explained.
Tyler looked like a younger version of Derrick except instead of black hair he had kind of golden hair that he'd put blue highlights in. He also didn't wear a collar like his brother. Everyone normally just called him Ty but sometimes the others would call him something else just to get under his skin. You see, Tyler was quick to anger all the time but even so, he's still a kind hearted person who loves his family and his friends.
"She was worried. Seeing as how someone decided they didn't have to come home right away. Plus, she is happy that you ignored Liza's comment. Which is very surprising. How much will-power did that take you?" Sue grinned as she pulled away and then turned and stuck her tongue out at him.
"So what? Firstly, she was really upset when she took off so I had every right to be worried when she wasn't home. Second, she took forever to get back because she was probably trying to calm down and I'm only just now realizing that. Thirdly, no one knew where she was Not even Derrick. So we couldn't tell her we were back or she probably would have been home sooner. Lastly, have you or anyone ever seen either of them ignore each other? Exactly! So shush." She crossed her arms and he shook his head.
Well that confirmed my thoughts. It hadn't been Derrick earlier. Damn it. Who was it then? Why did they look so much like him as well? Plus why would they pretend to be him just to ask me a bunch of stupid questions?
"Speaking of Derrick, we have a problem, and not the normal problems we have. Plus I only just figured out it was a problem and now I need to talk to him. So do either of you know where he's at?" They both blinked in surprise and looked at each other then back at me with frowns.
"I'm pretty sure he's in the library with everyone else. He was in his office for a while but then a fight started in the library and he had to break it up." tyler shrugged as he explained that to me
"What new problem has made itself known? I mean I know everything that happened at the mall upset you a lot but at this point it's kind of normal. As sad as it is." I rolled my eyes and sighed. immediately feeling bad for everything that had happened at the mall but I continued down the hall.
"Not between him and I. Although I want to talk to him before I decide on how big the problem really is or before I go telling anyone about it." They both followed me but kept confused looks on their faces.
When we got to the library I saw everyone but Derrick sitting around. which was kind of unusual because even after a fight breaks out everybody is normally outside or somewhere else. I frowned as I looked around for Derrick trying to figure out just how bad the fight had been.
"Hey, where's my brother?" Sue asked as she tilted her head slightly. Thankfully she didn't say anything about what I told her.
"Searching for yet another book to read I think. He is a book nerd after all." Jone rolled his eyes as he grinned and Ace, Jones' girlfriend, elbowed him.
"Leave him be. So what if he likes to read? So do I, you never make fun of me." She crossed her arms and glared at him.
Jone was Derricks beta and bestfriend. He had sunny yellow blond hair and was wearing a bright red shirt with blue jeans and green tennis shoes. He always had a grin on his face and was hyper. He loved being outside doing something all the time so it was a bit of a surprise that he was in here. He was also the lead warrior for the pack and he definitely earned that one. He was the best fighter in this pack, well just beneath Derrick that is.
Ace had beautiful brown hair that was currently braided and chocolate brown eyes to match. She has an amazing personality and, like me, can't stand liza. She was wearing a pink t-shirt and purple shorts with dark blue leggings and white heels. She was a book nerd like me but also loved to go out and meet people. plus she was an amazing fighter just like her mate. She also had been teaching me how to fight without Derrick knowing since for some reason he didn't like me fighting.
"Yes but the difference there, my love, is that you're my mate and he's my friend. I have every right to make fun of him seeing as how we've been doing so since we were toddlers. However, I would never do so to you because I love you and find everything you do adorable." He smiled at her while she rolled her eyes.
"He's also your alpha. Just because you two have been friends since kindergarten and happen to be his beta doesn't mean you get free rain to make fun of him." He snickered and pulled her onto his lap while she shook her head.
"Anyway. Why do you need alpha? What's up? Did he get into some kind of trouble or something?" Both Sue and Tyler shrugged.
I walked past them and into the maze of bookshelves and for a while I could hear them talking about the fight that broke out. But after that it was quiet and I immediately sighed in relief.
I always found peace within this maze. It's the only place where I could hide and not worry about anyone finding me. Only a few people could find their way through here. So I could definitely understand why he'd be in here. Especially if someone had just gotten into a giant fight. It also meant that it took me a bit to actually find him.
Once I did though, I felt bad about it. He was hiding in the way back of the maze sitting in a chair and obviously trying to calm down. So before I walked up to him I, first checked and made sure he was wearing a red collar, then cleared my throat as a warning and it got him to look up.
"Hey. Sorry, I know you don't like being around me but we really need to talk." He sighed with a frown on his face and, after a few calming breaths, he sat up.
"What about? To be honest, you look like you've just seen a ghost so it can't be good. What's going on?" I sighed and nodded then walked over and plopped down into the other chair.
"Honestly, I don't have the slightest clue as to what I just saw. It kinda freaked me out, But before I talk about that I need to ask you kind of a weird question." He cocked an eye and tilted his head obviously confused.
"ok, shoot. What's your question?" I shifted and connected my hands together. This was beyond uncomfortable but then again, so is every time I talk to him any more. It Shouldn't be so uncomfortable to be near him like this.
"After shopping, you came straight back here with everyone else right? You didn't go anywhere else?" He frowned and nodded to me.
"Yeah. As soon as we all got back I went right to my office. I had a lot of paperwork to finish up from yesterday. why?" I looked down and frowned.
I couldn't help but be disappointed by that. I was hoping that maybe he would've actually given me a chance. Obviously I shouldn't have gotten so hopeful.
"Because, someone who looked like you found me after I left the mall. He pretended to be you but the conversation was weird to say the least. It all just felt completely off." As I spoke and explained in more detail he got more and more tense and slowly started to pail.
"Ok. Then it's my turn to ask a weird question. What color collar was he wearing?" I blinked in surprise as I looked up at him in confusion.
I didn't know why that mattered but when I thought back to the whole conversation I remembered that he had been wearing a different colored collar. I had even asked him about it.
" Um….. I believe it was green. Wait, ok yeah it was green. So my turn to ask, why?" He cursed loudly and stood up, obviously not happy about that.
"Did you look him in the eyes?" I frowned at him as he paced back and forth. This was getting weirder and weirder.
"No. He barely looked at me the entire time we were talking. That's part of why I could somewhat believe him. Again I'll ask, Why?" He frowned and finally turned towards me and for the first time since we found out we were mates he actually looked me in the eyes which threw me off.
"Am I seriously that avasive towards you?" I immediately nodded my head, still too shocked from him actually making eye to eye contact to speak. then I tilted my head in question.
"Damn. I wasn't aware that I was that bad." He mumbled that to himself but I was still able to hear him.
"First, I'd like to point out that that was the only time you've actually looked me in the eyes since the mate bond was formed. Second, You're dodging the question Derrick. Why did you wanna know what the collar color was? Who was he and what in the hell is going on?" He sighed and rubbed his temples.
"It was one of my twin brothers ok. He's not someone you should be around or talking to either. Now, what did he want? What did you two talk about?" I froze in complete and utter shock at what he had just told me.
What? Wait he just said twin brother. Not only that but one of his twin brothers. Which means there's more than one twin. What? That would mean, I have more than one mate, Hell I have more then two mates. Before you ask, I say that because, for wolves, twins were the same soul split into different bodies. That would explain why he asked if I had looked into his eyes. He wanted to know if we had bonded as well. Also, it explains why I still felt the bond between us as we talked.
"Mellissa! Stop over thinking and, Please, just answer me." I blinked and slowly pulled myself from my thoughts as I looked up at him.
"One of your twins! How many of you are there! Wait…. Oh my goddess. That means there's more people to hate and ignore me." I groaned and dropped my head into my hands as the pain from that thought shot through my body.
"I don't hate you! When the hell did I ever say that I hated you?" I frowned and lifted my head just enough to shoot a glare up at him.
"You never had to. It was obvious from day one. As soon as I walked in here after the others found me." He frowned and crossed his arms at me.
"We are definitely going to have to talk about that later on. Right now though I need you to tell me what you two were talking about." I let out a huff and lifted my head the rest of the way up to look at him properly.
"He wanted to know about me. He just asked about my favorite things, my dislikes, my allergies, things like that. That's all. He just wanted to get to know me. Which is more than you've done." I Shrugged and he growled in annoyance which I just rolled my eyes at.
"How long did you two talk for?" He was obviously angry about all of this. He was clenching his jaw and his hands were balled shut.
"A couple of hours. He never tried to touch me or hurt me in any way so I didn't see a reason not to talk to him. He was kind and I wasn't going to just ignore him just because I had a feeling. If I did that I would never talk to anyone ever." He immediately started rubbing his temples and shifting back and forth on his feet.
"Ok, I need you to listen to me. The last time I saw either of those two they decided to help our dad. Our biological dad is a very very bad person. That's why I even stay away from him. So please, don't talk to them again. Ever. I'll give you whatever it is that you want if you'll just promise to stay away from them." I immediately frowned.
I knew that was bullshit. The only thing I wanted was my mate, or, mates. There was no way he was ever going to leave ms. Lies a lot. So there was no way he was going to be able to give me what I wanted. But I didn't say that. I didn't want to start an argument so instead I said something else entirely.
"I'm not promising anything but I will try to stay away from them. This is only because they're helping out a bad guy though. But what is your dad doing that makes him evil?" He relaxed a little and sighed in relief while I frowned.
"Thank you. I'm sorry I even had to ask this of you. It's not fair to you, but it is necessary and it doesn't matter as long as you stay away from him." I stood up and scoffed as I started to walk away.
"Name a time since I've met you that anything within this bond has been fair to me Derrick. I'll just have to deal with it like I do with everything else around here. Thanks for the sympathy though, Alpha. I'm going to my room now. Goodnight."
I made sure that the word alpha came out with venom. Then I crossed my arms and made my way out of the maze.
"I'm sorry. I know it's not fair And I know it's not easy. But please try to bear with me. Just for a while longer." I laughed humorlessly.
"I've been bearing with you and your mistress! But I can't keep it up much longer. Then again, I won't have to. I'll be leaving soon and none of you will have to deal with me any more. You can even throw a party when I'm gone!" I continued out of the library as I said this and slammed the door shut.
I headed to my room while trying to keep from crying. I ignored everyone as they stared at me while I walked through the library as well.
When I got to my room there was a surprise waiting for me on the end of my bed. It was a shopping bag from the mall. When I looked inside the clothes that Sue had pointed out to me earlier were inside of it along with a note that said
'We know you figured out the truth and probably talked to him by now. Please, allow us to tell you our side to this story on friday, and know that we already love you with all our hearts. Even if we don't know you too well yet.
I blinked in surprise at the note and had to reread it to actually take in what it said. Then I looked up at my window with a small smile.
"Well then. That's my mind made up I guess. See you two on friday." Then I turned back to the bag and pulled out the outfit and put it away with a smile. Then I changed and went to bed.
