Asher did not bother to even look at Susan Mills when he said coldly, "Shut up."
Claire was stunned as she saw the scene unfold in front of her.
Asher turned around and he was unbelievably close to Claire. She could even hear his light breathing.
"Ben, where are her personal documents?"
Mr. Jones quickly stepped forward and handed all of Claire's personal documents over.
Asher took them, swept them a glance, and gathered them in his hands. He then said nonchalantly, "Let's go."
"What? Where to?"
"Marriage register."
Claire's feet were suddenly stuck to the ground, and she could not move them at all.
"Mr… Mr, Kens, you… Are you kidding me? Today… Today isn't April Fool's, it's my birthday…"
"Twentieth birthday, right?" Asher asked.
Claire nodded. "Yes!"
"That's right, then."
Claire was at a loss. She could not understand the situation and was just staring at Asher with confusion.
Asher planned to divorce his ex-wife, and in the next moment register a marriage with Claire?
However, why would he want to marry her?
Claire had never thought that she would marry Asher. Not even once.
It was countless women's dream to marry Asher Kens, and many would beg for a chance with him. Just how on earth did Claire end up to be his wife?
Moreover, this was Claire's first time meeting him. The first thing he did was bring her to the Bureau of Civil Affairs?
Impossible and unimaginable.
Claire pinched herself on her thigh and a sharp pain rose from the spot.
The pain reminded her that she was in fact, not in a dream.
Asher Kens wanted to register their marriage.
This fact was more unimaginable than the fact that Asher chose to adopt her from the orphanage, among so many other kids there.
She just could not picture herself marrying someone who adopted and supported her all these years. Worse still–it was her first time meeting him.
Asher was standing in front of her, and he turned around slightly, looking visibly impatient. "What are you still dawdling about? I don't like to waste my time."
"But…" It took a long time for Claire to find her voice, and it turned out hoarse. She licked her dry lips and said, "Mr. Kens, we're not even familiar with each other."
It took a large amount of courage for Claire to say that out loud. As Asher was staring at her, the familiar, oppressive feeling appeared again.
"We can be familiar with each other in the future."
"What? But… I thought… I want to know the reason you want to marry me."
"Ben will explain it to you later. We only have fifteen minutes left before the bureau of civil affairs closes," Asher explained patiently without expression, "Or do you want everyone in there to wait for you?"
"I…"
"Come."
Asher threw the word at her, turned around, and walked toward the marriage register.
Benjamin Jones stood closer to Claire and explained softly, "Miss, since this is something Mr. Kens decided, then no one can change his mind. It's so many girls' dream to marry him. Just follow quickly."
"Why do I have to marry him?" Claire asked, "Why?"
Ben answered carefully, "Miss, you don't have the right to ask that when you're with Mr. Kens."
Claire looked at Asher as he walked toward the marriage register without stopping. She gritted her teeth, stomped her feet slightly, and followed suit.
