All of us started complaining about how it was not fair for us to still have morning duties, our mates in other hostels stopped their morning duty a week to mock exam but no it was different for yellow house girls. We had to complain to senior boarding house mistress a day to our mock before we were relieved off our morning duties and i guess same thing is about to happen again. 'All of you should get out of my face, foolish girls... Maimuna or what is that your foolish name self after school come and kneel down and fly your hands in front if my corner, shei you are the one that has big mouth ba?? Don't worry, i will teach you lesson today' the crazy house captain said. It was a period after break that we finally got to see Meenoo's guardian, it is not as if teachers were coming to class since we were having exam tomorrow, we left the class and followed him to his office, 'What brings this two troublesome girls to my office on the first day of resumption' imagine he didn't even greet us those were the words he used to welcome his favorite girls back from break 'well good afternoon sir, your favorite girls came to greet you because it been 2weeks since they last saw you and they will be starting their exams tomorrow so they want you to pray for them' Meenoo said smiling 'lets not forget the part that i came to call my mum, i forget the prayers i was told to do before starting my papers tomorrow so i want to confirm it from her' i quickly added with a poker face. Lucky us he was in a good mood so he simply gave me the phone to call while he was busy chatting with Meenoo about God knows what, i dailed the number and Hajiya Salma picked the call on the third ring.
Me: Salamualaikum Hajiya, mie Maimuna yo (it's me maimuna).
Hajiya: Ooh Walaikumul salam Maimu, how are you doing and how is school?? I called your mum yesterday evening and asked after you, she said you returned to school yesterday because you will be starting your jsce exams tomorrow.
Me: Yes, i will be starting tomorrow and would be finishing in a month time.
Hajiya: When you finish your exams do you have anywhere in mind to go and spend your holiday or is there something you will be doing during the break at home?
Me: No, i have no where to go except if my dad still remember the promise he made to take me to Lagos after my jsce exams.
Hajiya: Exactly! That is why i love you, you never forget important things.... Let me call your dad and remind him of the promise he made to me. Don't go anywhere i will call you back immediately i end my call with him.
Me: Okay Hajiya i will wait.
Hajiya: Maimu how many times will i tell you to stop acting like your mum, call me Mama not Hajiya or am i not your mother??
Me: Sorry Mama i forgot... Bye.
And with that she ended the call, i gave Meenoo's guardian back his phone and told him my mum said one of my Aunt will be calling me in few minutes so i shouldn't go anywhere, he didn't mind since he was enjoying his conversation with Meenoo, that girl sure knows how to buy time for us, she gave me a questioning look and i smiled giving her assurance that all was well.
Mr. Tayo gave me the phone immediately it started ringing i smiled and picked the call immediately the phone got to my hand.
Hajiya/mama: Maimu thank you for reminding me, now i will have you all to myself for four good months ma sha Allah, i will finally have a lady to call my child not those five naughty boys i have Alhamdulillah.
Me: Oohw he agreed right??... Baba agreed!! I will be spending my holiday in Lagos... God knows i can't wait..... Yayii.
Hajiya/mama: Yes Maimu he agreed, he said you even stress him too much so he will be free of your trouble for four months.
Me: Thank you Mama! Thank you!! But am sorry i will have to go now the owner of the phone is already complaining, good bye.
Hajiya/mama: Okay Maimu, don't forget to call me few days before your exams are over, take care of yourself and read hard, masalam.
Mr. Tayo didn't ask of his phone but i was on cloud nine, i couldn't wait to tell Meenoo about the good news that was why i had to lie to her. I gave Mr. Tayo back his phone and thanked him so much, 'tell me! Tell me!! Tell me!!! What happened, did you both finalized things already, what did she say, will you be spending your holiday in lagos?? Talk to me babe' Meenoo asked all in one breath immediately we left Mr. Tayo's office. 'Calm down Meenoo don't you trust your girl again huh? And why won't she agree? She was never the problem, the problem has always been my dad but guess what babe, not anymore.... He is no longer an obstacle because i am so spending this holiday in Lagos with youuuuuu' i ended up shouting even if i tried controlling myself i couldn't control myself till the end, i was over joyed, i was flabagasted, i even felt as if i was dreaming. Just 32 more days and i will be in lagos in sha Allah.... Musty here i come!!!
