Jade immediately turned around to see if Max was still where he was or not. She didn't want Max to hear what Shane had to say and when she saw that Max was gone, Jade immediately grabbed Shane's hand.
They were a little further away from the crowd before it was completely quiet. Her eyes showed her annoyance at Shane.
"You ... know what?" Jade asked.
"Your father killed Ace. Well, you don't have to keep it a secret from me, Jade."
"Can Max read your mind?" Jade asked without replying.
Shane nodded, and his nodding frustrated Jade. "Only if I allow it," Shane said later.
"What do you mean?" Jade asked, clueless. But after hearing him say that, she couldn't lie that she was relieved.
Shane smiled at her. "We should go to class first. After that, I'll wait for you in the cafeteria," Shane said, leading him into the classroom.
