Chereads / A real game / Chapter 3 - The beginning

Chapter 3 - The beginning

I found myself in quite a beautiful place, where nature rules almost everything, I was in front of a little town, probably the starting point of my journey, I went ahead and got in, as nobody cared about my infiltration, even though the town suffers from underpopulation, need less to say, I came to level up not count the NPCs, and so I needed quests, wich was hard, even if I was the sole player , because the speech guy said something about NPCs being intelligent, so I had to, at least make them notice me, as they seem not to care, yet, so eather serve them one by one, soloing quests, or help the mayor, who most likely is busy to even know of me, with that in mind I opened my status window.

{ Name : Max SPARROW

Profession : Magician

Level 0. Tier 0.

stats :

Strength : 9

Agility : 7

Endurance : 8

Mana :5

Intelligence : 10

Wisdom : 8

Vitality : 10

weapon used : Katana, proficiency level 5 }

According to the file that the game makers gave me, the average was a 5 in stats, but a athletic man would have 10,

and since I started gaming I went to the gym regularly, to wich I owe my stats, I guess, but for intelligence and wisdom, wich are the exceptions, the average is a 10, mana thow is a special stat given to magical classes such as magician, and I am only average.

So I need to develope mana, raise fame in town, wich is called the forgotten town, and raise level and stats, maybe find out more about this mysterious town along the road.

I first went to the first guard I saw and asked him

"- Hello sir, I want to ask you if you need any help, you see I am new in town and I need a job to get money,

- You can go sign in to become a guard, otherwise you might just stay broke for life,

- Yes, but you see I'm a traveller, I can't give up on my travels and..

- Go away than and suite yourself, damn the youngsters these days, all they care about is travel,

they don't..."

The man was telling me to be a slave, anyway, I left him, and went to the market, if every NPC is like him in this town, than I only can hunt and sell my product, so I went to a meat shop,

"- Hey sir, do you need any meat,

- Yes indeed, I'll need as much as you have, I'll give one copper for every piece of meat you have so show me,

- Ok sir wait, I'm going to go get it for you,

- You better hurry up, and if it's any lower than 10, then I'm not taking it, I close at 8"

And then,

{ Quest triggered: Sell meat

The meat shop owner needs some meat, get him as much as you can get

Failure condition : - less than 10 pieces

- reach the shop after 8

Rewards: 1 copper per meat piece, relation with the meat shop owner +10 and overall relation with NPCs +1 and +10 exp for every 10 bunnies.

Failure will result in :relation with the meat shop owner -10, overall relation with NPCs -1 }

Now we're talking, I went ahead to the forest and looked from my first prey, a a white bunny with red eyes, it's name is surprisingly bunny,

{ Bunny level 2

HP = 50

Defense =10 }

Well that is a cute little bunny, but I needed to hunt him so I stroke to it's head, only to touch the afterimage, I guess I didn't get all the intel from the system that's NOT to be expected, so I hit again and again, well at least the third time it was successful, not, it had high defence, and even slash didn't break the whole defence by a lot, it will take me all day just to complete this quest, at least my skills developed every time I used them, more when successful, but the unsuccessful tries were not wasted.

After 5 hours of hard work, I hunted nearly 200 bunnies, at first it was hard, but skill development made it easier, leveling up too, as I leveled 3 levels purely depending on bunnies, I met a puppy wolf though, and he was a level 5, so I didn't plan on it yet, and I had yet to put my free stat points to use.

But the best was the title I got after my first 100 kills.

{ title: Rabbits hunter

When equiped, the rabbits will be 30 percent slower in a 30 m diameter around you. }

And the status window changed:

{ Name : Max SPARROW

Profession : Magician

Level 3. Tier 0.

stats :

Strength : 9 --> 12

Agility : 7 --> 10

Endurance : 8 --> 11

Mana :5 --> 8

Intelligence : 10 --> 13

Wisdom : 8 --> 11

Vitality : 10 --> 13

Free stat points : 9

weapon used : Katana, proficiency level 6 }

I got 200 dead bunnies that I didn't know what to do with, 30 coppers, yeah they did drop that, and a ring

{ Common ring level 1

no requirements

agility + 3 }

It provided free stats so I wore it, than I went to the same shop from before, Wich was still open, I went in and gave the bunnies.

{ Quest name : Sell meat

The meat shop owner needs some meat, get him as much as you can get.

Rewards: 1 copper per meat piece, relation with the meat shop owner +10, overall relation with NPCs +1 for every 10 pieces of meat.

Overall reward , 2000 copper coins, relation with the meat shop owner +200, overall relation with NPCs +20, +200 exp.

Quest successful }

Level up.

" - That is way much more than what I expected, but I will take it, here is the price, thank you gentleman, I , all thanks to you, have now 3 months worth of meat. "

I gave half the money back,

" - Sir, I am unknowledgeable about gutting animals, dissecting them, let alone triming meat, so if you accept to teach me, I'm willing to only get half the price

- Are you sure, 1000 coppers might make you do a lot of things around here, hot things you might enjoy.

- Yeah thanks but, I really want to learn, enjoying life is the right of the strong and I am yet to be one.

- Hmm, okay than, come here tomorrow morning before the sun sets, I'll teach you for three hours everything you need to know, but you'll have to do the job on all these rabbits".

{ Hidden quest triggered

Learn the sub profession : Butcher in the required time, gut 200 rabbit bodies.

Reward : +200 in all profession : Butcher skills,relation with the meat shop owner +400,

fame within the forgotten town +100, 1500 exp, leather armor.

failure : -1000 coppers }

I struck gold, not only did I find a hidden quest, but I got a sub profession, an armor, and the needed fame, I guess NPCs being intelligent helps me after all.

Later that night, I rent a room, there were no hotels,

so I paid 10 coppers for the room and a good bed,

and guess what, I started meditation, after nearly 4 hours, I reached level 8 in the skill and started practicing mana control, later on, having only 3 hours or so left for the night, making it up to level 4, fortunately, meditation was a form of sleeping, so fatigue was depleted, after that, I went to the workshop.

"Oh you're right on time, good, than let your training begin ".
