Hale stood over Velori, his eyes wide and his breath trapped inside his chest.
"You love me?" He whispered.
He was shocked. She had effortlessly taken over his Illusion and pulled them into a completely different world. The animals there were still running around the back of his mind. As was her foreign tongue and combat skills.
Then she dropped those three little words on him. He still felt them ringing in the air. 'I love you.'
Unsure of what he felt, he simply stared at her sleeping form. His mind was doing somersaults around words and emotions.
He'd been told those same words before by sexual partners, but none felt like this. It felt as if his mind was full of holes, like a shotgun spray. Words came to mind but fell right back out through the holes. He placed his hand over his stomach as it turned inwards and outwards like a swishing deck on high seas.
