He hadn't meant to drop her. She had been wiggling so much that her wing pulled forward and knocked his arm back. She'd beat at him like he was on fire. Shoving, clawing, and batting at him with her wings. He wasn't even sure she knew what she was doing.
He'd planned on flying her up and showing her how he used his wings. Although they may have different bone structures or muscle layouts, he was sure he could help her build confidence. Instead, she'd beat at him until she slipped out of his fingers.
Her shocked and scared eyes now looked up at him as she plummeted toward the ground. All he could do for a moment was limply reach out his arm, as her feelings pummeled his own.
Time slowed to a crawl. The clouds paused in their passing and the birds froze mid-flap. The ocean in the short distance stilled its battering of the rocks and he gasped as he rode her feelings out, before he could force his muscles to respond.
