I was kneeling in place as I bowed my head towards the woman dressed in white as she stood in front of me, her white palm opened above my head
"In the name of the Gods of Foleria, I bestow upon you, champion, the purification blessing, heed the call and unseal the power within" she stated quietly but her serene voice seemed to resound all over the space
A glowing golden circle with intricate designs on its ring appeared above my head, within it a symbol of a falling white feather at its center. As it shined above me, I felt a warm sensation envelope my whole body
In addition, somewhere near my heart, it felt like a weight has been removed surrounding that part my body. It felt liberating as if chains that were holding me were broken all of a sudden
After a while the golden circle disappeared as a searing pain suddenly erupted from my right palm
"Ahhhhh!? It hurts! w-what the hell is happening to my hand!?" I held my hand strongly as I crouched down in pain, sweating bullets
"Fool, its a part of the blessing, hold it in for a moment" she said as she proceeded to sit down in the chair and drink tea from the small round table
"Y-you said it was just going to hurt a bit, this isn't a bit!" I retorted, the pain felt like being seared by a piping hot metal
"This is a 'bit', if you cant even handle this level of pain then there's no hope for you to survive the coming war" she said as she looked to the side
The painful experience continued as it slowly dissipated. I gradually stood up after I felt no more pain in my hand and as I looked at my right hand, I was puzzled due to the marking on the backside of my hand, it had a symbol of a feather inside a circle
I glared at the beautiful woman sitting without a care for the victim of her lies
'This b**ch, even though I agreed, doesn't mean you can abuse me in the excuse of a blessing' I gritted my teeth as I recalled how it came to this point
After she had given out every information about everything that was needed to be explained to me, she had urged me to proceed with the purification blessing and so that she could also explain how my ability works right afterwards
I wanted her to wait for a bit since all the bombshells that I had learned a few moments ago was very hard to digest in one sitting
Alas, I had no more important questions to ask her and she had also said that time here is limited so we had to proceed to the ceremony, if anyone could call it that.

"That marking represents that you have been granted with the purification blessing, keep in mind that the blessing will still be with you wether with or without the marking and in the case that you lose your hand, it will just appear in another part of your body"
"That's a scary presumption...so its just a useless side effect?" I muttered disappointedly
"Exactly, so stop asking pointless question and sit, I will begin explaining your ability" she demanded
I sat despite being depressed having a useless magic tattoo
She faced me then said
"Open your status now"
"Uhuh, ok...Status!" I said as a transparent square panel appeared before me

'Yes! It finally showed up'
My ability has been finally revealed, I was secretly relieved that no mishaps or stupid errors had occur. It had a general description of what it actually is and had an accompanying level which was 1 as expected but it doesn't expound anything from that description, no more additional details, nothing.
I was getting excited and anxious at the same time However I was more surprised that this woman in front of me is the Goddess of Frost, In addition my ability was closely connected to hers
'Well it would explain why she's prickly cold' I thought as I peered at her well sculpted face
"It seems that you have unsealed your ability successfully, now let me explain what it is and how it works, so listen carefully" she strictly said
"Your ability is connected with the use of runes, Runes is the language that my sister Lau, the Goddess of Words, embodies. Runes are normally used by Gods in our normal lives but a champion once used it to perform spells, bizarre ones at that"
"Spells!? wait...so does that mean I can do magi- I mean spells?" I asked excitedly
"Don't interrupt me please..., But essentially yes"
I fist pumped as she looked at me with eyes filled with pity
"The previous user was a mage, meaning she had external circuits and runes can "only" be activated by manipulating external arcane energy, so what does that mean for you" she stared at me intently as I pondered over her words
"But I have internal circuits...how the hell am I going to use it?..." I asked nervously
"You are a very curious case since you've managed to connect with me while also manifesting an affinity with the use of runes despite having internal circuits" she said in an amused tone
"Fortunately, I have learned how to craft my own rune ages ago from sister Lau, it seems that your ability perfectly matches your mystic talent as it had approriately manifested an appropriate ability for you despite your circumstances"
She then pointed her two fingers in the air as it glowed blue, as she started to write in empty space, lines of blue lines was traced behind her fingers
"I made my own personal rune that already resides within you, I have crafted it in a way so that it can be activated with your internal arcane energy" she stated as she continues to slowly write, her finger tracing elegantly in the air
"The previous rune user needed to combine other runes with its counterpart so that she can conjure her spells but in your case you only need one, the rune that enables you to share my power"
She paused as I realized that she had finished what she had written. The blue lines had formed a symbol that looked like a letter I with a greater than symbol attached to it and it was inside a circle. I looked at the finished symbol with a look of wonder and awe
"This is our rune, the Inverno rune" she said in a light tone as I felt the area become cold as ice
