Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Fallen Angels

The next morning, Matt was invited to a meeting with Kurt and Alannah. He was surprised to see Erin, the head of the Gods Eye, the gang world spy network, and Bee Alder - Clearwater, the leader of all the sea gangs, on a conference call screen. Bee's husbands, The Canadian Twin Princes, were also on the screen.

"OK, this seems serious. What's up? " Matt asked as he sat down.

"This is just more of an investigatory meeting. We thought you should be involved as it might affect you. " Kurt said.

"Well, you definitely have my attention," Matt said.

"Can we hurry up, please? The triplets will wake up soon, and our wife needs her rest," Aiden said firmly

"Is parenthood going well then?" Erin asked with a mischievous glint in her eye.

"It is going well, but three babies is a challenge for anyone. Besides, I guess you want help identifying something? " Bee said.

"Yes, I am afraid so. We had reports of this symbol being painted in different parts of London. I wandering if either of you recognises it or if it is a new gang I should be keeping an eye on. " Alannah said as she held a photo to the camera. The photo showed an image of a black hooded figure with wings holding a scythe.

"Holy sh*t!" Bee said, blood draining from her face.

"Darling, what is it?" Ethan asked, frowning. Hardly anything shook Bee.

"You all need to listen to me very carefully. That is the symbol of the Fallen Angels." Bee explained.

"Fallen Angels?" Kurt asked.

"Yes, they are incredibly skilled and dangerous assassins. As soon as they are born, they are trained to do one thing, and that is kill. What I can't understand is why would they leave a mark when they rely on stealth?" Bee asked.

"It's a warning to local gangs not to get in the way. They are on the hunt for someone and will kill anyone that does. " Erin said.

"Who do they want to kill?" Kurt asked.

"I don't know, but I don't think it is someone senior, as an attack would have been made already. Most likely, a contract has been taken out on a competitor. They probably don't know what they got themselves into, the stupid fools! " Erin explained, shaking her head.

"Someone might have tried to kill Matt the other day," Kurt said

"It won't be them," Erin said.

"How do you know?" Alannah asked.

"Because you would be shipping his body back to Brazil right about now, " Erin said with a shrug.

"Still, it is not good news and we should all be cautious," Bee said firmly.

"Bee, I have never seen you so concerned. Are you OK?" Alannah asked.

"These people, they are not like you or I Alannah. They are not like us. They don't mess around, they go in for the kill. " Bee answered.

"I am sure you and Alannah could take them down with no problem!" Kurt said confidently, expecting Bee to agree. But she didn't.

"No, I am not sure we could. Their methods are shrouded in mystery, and their fighting style is unique. No one takes out a contract with them unless they are very rich or stupid. " Bee said honestly, biting her bottom lip, a sure sign she was worried.

"Come on, sweetheart, remember that we're on Siren's Island. No one can get here! " Ethan said softly, as he hugged his wife from behind.

"Still, we should alert Mousehole and double the watch. Just to be sure. We can't risk our babies! " Bee said, worry etched across her face.

"We will, I promise. Why don't you go for a rest with Aiden, and I will take care of the rest of the meeting?" Ethan suggested, and Bee nodded.

Matt's heart ached at the love the three of them shared. He wanted a piece of that pie, and his mind was suddenly filled with the image of Lisa. Could she be the one he had been looking for, his soulmate?

"Kurt, I have never seen her so concerned. Not even with the Breaking Wheel Consortium! " Ethan said when Bee and Aiden left the room. The Breaking Wheel Consortium was a group of gangs that were determined to bring war to the syndicate world to make money. Bee, as Siren, had uncovered the leader, Mark Hurst.

"Well, she is a new mother and is clearly exhausted. Maybe it has clouded her judgment?" Kurt gently suggested.

"Tell me, do you value Alannah's judgement less because she has become a mother to Lilly Rose?" Ethan demanded to know.

"Point taken!" Kurt said quickly, and Ethan nodded.

"Bee is used to being exhausted and still keeps the sea gangs in order. It is not an easy task, I can assure you. No, heed her. This is not good news, and please keep us informed of any news about this. "

"Of course, Ethan," Kurt said with a smile.

"And I will see what my spies know. I will be in touch shortly!" Erin said. Everyone said their goodbyes and logged off. Alannah noticed that Kurt was still smiling. "Why are you smiling, Kurt?"

"Oh, it is just nice to see the twins finally become men. Did you see how Bee let Ethan take over? She trusts them completely, as I do you. " Kurt remarked.

"Dear God, Kurt. I can't believe you are one of the most feared men in the syndicated world! " Matt moaned.

"You will understand one day. Maybe that day is sooner than you think, as a little bird told me you are taking a certain teacher out on a third date. " Kurt said.

"Owwww, it must be getting serious! Spill! " Alannah said, making herself comfortable.

"Nothing to say really, I had lunch with her and she agreed to go to the theatre with me," Matt said.

"Is that why you are smiling like a cat that has got the cream? Are you taking her out for dinner? " Alannah asked excitedly.

"Yes, but not at my restaurant," Matt confirmed.

"Well, she did make quite an impression. Why don't you take her to our restaurant, The Ivy? "Kurt suggested.

"That is a great idea, but won't it be fully booked?" Matt said, knowing there was a waiting list at the Ivy.

"Perks of being the owner. I will book you a table for the evening. " Kurt said.

"Thanks, I appreciate it! Now, if you excuse me, I have preparations to make. " Matt said.

"Of course!" Alannah said as she watched her friend leave. As soon as she was out of the room, she put her hand out and said, "Pay up!"

"Don't you think it is a little immoral to bet on your friend's love life?" Kurt moaned as he got out a crisp 20-pound note and placed it in his wife's hand.

"Huh. Stop being a sore loser. Admit it, this Lisa might be the one for Matt. I have never seen him so interested in a woman before! "

"No, you are right. I just hope she is strong enough for our world. " Kurt remarked.

"I hope she is too," Alannah said as she folded the 20-pound note and put it in her back jeans pocket. She was going to enjoy buying some fresh orange juice with it, something she knew she shouldn't have!
