Chapter 3 - Volume 1.3 Apocalypse and the Aristocratic Lady

The second day of the Apocalypse. Everything was a bit calmer now than before. Or so what I wanted to say. Since right now, other than the apocalypse happening, there were other things that I needed to look after.

"Bath me, peasant!"

"Wash me."

My jaw dropped at what Edina was telling me to do?

"Ah what?"

"I feel greasy from sweat. And my maids are not here. The others are three males. And the other one was," Edina looked at Sia who was wiping her sword. "She was not worthy of someone like me, the daughter of the Duke of the North."

{She is scary. I might die before I could go back to my father.} I heard Edina's thoughts. Hmm... so she feared someone despite her prideful attitude. Well, Sia was indeed frightening. Then Edina looked back at me.

"It seems commoner's brains are really low level. As a benevolent daughter of the duke of the north, I will explain things more to you so that you can understand. What I meant to say is that you who look like the most commoner among us should help me in my bath."

I'm amazed how her thoughts and words were exactly the opposite as always. And she loved mentioning the daughter of the duke of the north repeatedly.

{I don't know how things work when I went to your bathroom.}

"You should feel honored that you will serve me, Edina, the only daughter of the Duke, commoner! Hoho!" She laughed like some of those bully villainesses in some flimsy historical reincarnation stories. I wonder if I need to get used to this eccentric behavior. How troublesome.

"My goodness." I released a deep sigh then went on to my wardrobe. "What do you prefer?" I grabbed two sets of clothes, and I showed her the red dress I have. Then next was a simple t-shirt and pants.

"What are you doing?" There was confusion on Edina's face. "What are those things?"

"You don't have any clothes right?" I said. "You can borrow some of mine for now."

{I don't have clothes. They look like nightwear without corsets. Did she think I would wear such low dresses? However, the corset is so uncomfortable now.}

I almost made my jaw open again. Well glad I didn't. She was wearing a corset? I looked at her waist. That was why whenever she moved she kept holding her waist. She must have been uncomfortable since yesterday. I sighed once again.

"Don't worry. You are not in your world now. No one would criticize you here for wearing such clothes. Plus you need to survive so that you can come back to your world. How will you do that if right now, you are not comfortable? Just choose one pair of these and make your life easier to handle."

{Those clothes look comfortable. But I can't let her have the way that I wanted the clothes she was offering to me.} Edina gulped as she looked at the strange but comfortable clothes.

"Hah. Fine," She opened her fan. "Since you insist, I will wear some of your clothes for now. And I only wear dresses. As a noble lady of the esteemed house of the North, there is no way that I will wear pants." She turned her back. "Now help me to my bath now, commoner."

I just sighed again. Could she be just honest with her words? Well, I guess having mind reading is pretty convenient. Plus, why do I feel like I am taking care of a toddler? Really troublesome.

"This one with red color is for hot water. And the blue one is for cold water. You just needed to twist it to the right, so that the water would come out. "Please try it."

"Why are you telling me this? Are you not going to help me in my bath? And don't call me such disrespectful manners." She crossed both her arms. "Call me Milady."

"Milady, will I get paid once I help you?"

"My father will compensate you with any amount you can never forget. Plus I can recommend you to become one of my maids. There is no greater honor than to serve me, hoho!"

Is laughing really necessary?

"Don't forget that we are not in your world, Milady. And I'm not really poor at working with someone or following orders."

"How dare you not follow my orders! This is just a one-lifetime opportunity for you..."

"I detest the idea of following someone," I said with a sudden cold voice that made Edina stop.

{What is her problem? Why is she mad at me now? She is just a commoner.}

I released a breath and pointed near the mirror. That is close, I should calm myself. "Those are the soap and then shampoo." I turned off the faucet. "The bathtub also was now full. You can take a bath and relax a bit here. And I put your change of clothes on the bed outside. I will not let any of the boys come inside the bedroom until you finish your bath. I will wait outside as well. If you have any problem or need help just call out to me." I said continuously and walked out of the bath.

"I will not call you. I don't need any help from commoners if they are not going to serve me!" Edina yelled.

She surely had a temper. But before I could completely leave...

"Milady, you need to learn things on your own here if you want to survive. Not all the time someone will be happy to help you." I warned her. "So be grateful that some are already helping you out despite your attitude."

{This is unfair, what did I do to be treated like this? I'm a noble with an obvious high ranking than them. If my father was here...} Edina looked like she was going to explode as she became extremely flushed red. I turned my back towards her without saying anything. {I want to go home. I miss my faith...}

Mind-reading off. There was no need for me to hear the rest of her thoughts.

***

Dealing with Edina was surely tiring. I wish she would take a longer time in the bath.

While waiting for Edina to finish her bath, I glanced at my phone. My brother was still not answering my calls or replying to my message. I sighed. I have been sighing a lot since yesterday. But compared to what happened to me, compared to those unfortunate people who got eaten outside. I'm still lucky to be alive.

"Where is the spoiled brat?" I didn't notice that Sia entered the room.

"Taking a bath." I simply said. Then there was an awkward silence that filled the air. Gimme a break.

Mind reading on. I said inside my mind. If I mentioned something wrong with her, I might die at her hands.

{The wound on her neck. I should have been more careful yesterday.}

Ah right. I still have this wound on my neck when she pressed the sword. Though it was not that deep and a simple bandage would do. But to think she would be worried like this.

"How are the three outside?" I asked, to shift her attention.

"That flashy boy was now cooking. The blue boy was reading with the i-pad device you gave him. And Uriel is playing with that game flashy boy taught him."

She didn't bother remembering the names of Nathan and Dale. There was another awkward silence that filled the air.

"I apologize for hurting you yesterday. I should have been more careful."

Sia apologized?

Looking at my surprised expression, Sia seemed pissed but then she took deep breaths.

{Control yourself, it is pretty understandable that she will be surprised when the person trying to kill her with a sword would apologize all of the sudden.}

"I apologize," she said once again and kneeled down. "As a warrior of Murim, I am ashamed that I hurt an innocent person with my Phantom. I should cut my arms to compensate." She brought out her sword much to my fear. And she raised it towards her arms.

"Stop!" I immediately yanked the swords away from her hands.

{Why did she stop me? Are my arms not enough or do I need to cut off one leg?}

I held my aching head. Good thing that I could read minds. From this situation, I could slightly understand Sia's attitude.

"It's alright. It has all been a misunderstanding." I said.

"But I made a grave mistake yesterday."

"Then what if I tell you I'm really someone who abducted me?"

{So, she is really someone then there is nothing for me to apologize for and kill her...}

I interrupted her thoughts. "I'm not your kidnapper. I just said that so that you won't cut your arms. If you are really sorry to me, then..." I glanced ahead to see my gaming console. Ah, the right thing to do right now. "Beat me in a battle fair and square."
