I gasped escaped from my lips. "Do you think…their daughter was…"
"I don't know. The way I see that village, whatever or whoever attacked it left none alive. There was not a single trace of people escaping the attackers." Hunter said. "And that's how I think I failed them."
"We never know. She might be alive somewhere." I tried to appease but he only looked down and shook his head.
"I tried blaming it on other people but it's really me. I came too late." Hunter said. "I didn't intend to hide why I was mad of that woman."
"Pristine?" I asked to make sure. I just assumed on his tone that he would always use whenever Pristine was involved. There was a low vibration on his throat, indicating that he tried his growl. "What had she got to do with this?"
"I asked the king for an assistance and I was stupid to think that he was genuine. He presented me Pristine as the lost daughter of those of my benefactor. But they lied to me."
