As it was an exchange meeting, the schedule of this type of meeting wasn't very tight, so during the breaks, Leonard and others were able to take care of some of their own affairs, such as those concerning their properties in this region.
"Why is this land so desolate?" After arriving at the land previously used to offset debts, Leonard was met with an extremely desolate sight:
The entire plot was enclosed by a wall built of bricks, but the whole wall appeared perilously mottled, and in some places, it had completely collapsed. Through the gaps where the wall had crumbled, he could see the open ground inside.
This open ground did not seem very flat, and only a few dilapidated buildings with remnants of walls still stood. Apart from that, the ground was overgrown with weeds, creating a sense of desolation.
