"There's a dragon myth in there and you couldn't read it, which makes no sense.", I state.
"How were you able to read it but not me?", he asks.
"I don't know!", I shout.
"How did you even get all those books?", he demands.
"Bought a few of them and some were given to me.", I say with a shrug.
"Do you think you'll be able to find out why you're the only one who could read it?", Yuma asks.
Shrugging my shoulders and try to speak to my dragon again.
["Do you know why I'm able to read the dragon myth but not Cody?"]
Biting my lip as they stare at me, waiting for me to have the answer; standing there awkward since I really didn't have an answer.
"Look, I don't have the answer to the question, okay?", I point out.
Cody gives me the look that says are you telling me the truth; holding back a growl since he thinks I'm lying, so I look dead in his eyes and say,
"I do not know why you can't read it, but I can. Maybe you should ask our parents. I'm sure they'll tell you."
He flashes his eyes while mine do the same; his dragon features appear, making Yuma's heartbeat pickup. Eyes staying slits while a smirk forms on my lips.
"I would ne careful if I was you."
"Don't threaten me.", he growls.
"Who said anything about threats?", I say with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't you are!", he growls.
Rolling my eyes before smirking and saying, "Your fiancé won't be able to handle two upset dragons."
"Your nothing but a nobody who should stay in their own bloody lane!"
A feeling overtook me and speaks, "That's enough!"
"Ruth, I don't know what came over me.", he says sacredly.
"Same."
Yuma stares in shock before she rushes towards me, tilting my head towards her face as her eyes scan over my confused face; glancing over to Cody, I see him just as confused. Looking back at her to see her eyes changed colors, eyes widen in shock, but when I open my mouth to ask, her eyes change back to their original color. Letting my face go, she moves back, then grabs the book from Cody's hand to read where the myths were. She glances upwards at me before turning her attention back onto the book.
"What was that all about?", Cody asks.
"I needed to see something.", she answers.
"And what did you see?", I ask.
She smirks at me before handing the book over while her finger is still on the area where she wants me to read; eyes widen when I see the words change without realizing I was saying it aloud.
"The warrior the dragon speaks will face unspeakable things, and when that pain happens, their dragons manipulate their person to do evil things, but there's a way for them to break free from their manipulation."
"Do they say how to break it?", Cody asks from behind me.
Taking another look to see that there isn't so, I shake my head no; Yuma glances over Cody's shoulder and says,
"Are you sure?"
"Do you see where they say it?", I state.
"I can't read it.", she shrugs.
"Why was there two other scents in here?", Cody asks, as he just remembered.
"That's because there were two other scents.", I respond as I put the book in my bag.
"Why?"
"They wanted me."
"What did they want with you?", Yuma asks.
"To kill me, why else."
"Shit, are they the same people from the kitchen?", Cody hisses.
"Hard to say.", I state.
"Isn't there a way to find out?", Yuma asks.
"Unless I want to die then no.", I state.
"You could just turn invisible.", Cody states.
"Even if I turned invisible, they'll find me."
"How?", they ask.
"Did you two forget they have something that kills dragons!", I hissed.
"Sorry.", they say while rubbing their necks.
Walking to the window, as Cody and Yuma whisper yell at each other; leaning against the wall that overlooks the castle when the area changes around me. Noticing it's the same area, my Cheryl took me, so I let the magic around lead me to where I need to go; as I continue to follow the magic, I feel a present close by where the magic is going- once there I see the dark mage.
"What do I own the pleasure today, dark mage?", I say.
"I come in peace.", they say.
"Mhm."
"Something bad is going to happen and you need to prepare.", they say.
"Why should I trust you? After all, you tried to kill me.", I ask while pointing out the obvious.
"I know, but I'm not your enemy.", they say, holding their hands up in surrendered.
"You putting your hands up doesn't mean I actually trust you, you seem to have forgotten, but I've seen you mumble spells under your breath.", I state while crossing my arms.
They sigh before dropping their hands. Sitting on a chair that came out of nowhere, they wave their hands towards the chair that's next to me; rolling my eyes but sitting down.
"How did you get here?", I ask, not wanting to waste time.
"Followed the dark energy.", they reply.
"Dark energy?"
"Can you not feel it?", they ask.
Taking a minute to see what they're talking, puffing in annoyance because I can't feel anything. Shaking my head at them, their eyes widen in shock before they jump out of the chair. Moving back a bit, they quickly apology before kneeling in front of me with their hands on my knees.
"I need you to relax for me.", they say.
"Why? What are you going to do to me?", I ask.
"I want to see if you have a magic blocking your sight.", they state.
"Breath Ruth, I will not hurt you."
"You'll be in my head though.", I say.
"You'll be with me the while time.", they whisper.
"You promise.", I say.
They nod their head, before they take my hands in their and close their eyes, following behind. Opening my eyes to see a pitch black room that only has me and the dark mage.
"Alright, let's get going.", they say.
"Where are we heading?", I ask as I follow.
"There should be a tunnel, somewhere around here.", they say.
Nodding my head in understanding, I look for the said tunnel they're talking about. I think it's about ten minutes passed when someone speaks.
"This is odd."
"How come?", I ask.
"Normally the tunnel would've already been here, so it makes little sense why there isn't one now.", they explain.
Opening my mouth to speak when a sharp pain pears through me, gasping for air. Suddenly the area changes-
"Arrest them!", Lexa yells, pointing to Calimesa.
Calimesa's eyes widen in fear as I create a barrier protecting her from the guards.
"Zeke, get Calimesa out of here!"
He nods his head and flies over towards Calimesa as she reaches up for his hand; spinning around to shoot a spell at one guard,
"McKenna, watch out!"
As the sentence ends, I'm hit in the back of my head; glancing around to see how many guards are here-
"Ruth, are you okay?", the dark mage asks, while holding my shoulder.
"I need... need to go.", I gasp out.
"What happened?", they ask, as they run to catch up with me.
"I saw my friends and they're in trouble.", I say as I try to find my way out.
