Chapter 129 - Escape From Team Aqua

Unnamed Island.

A speedboat was sailing across the sea. Twelve people stood in the boat. They were dressed in black and white stripe shirts, blue pants, and black bandanas. Spotting their leader, the driver steered the boat toward the shore.

"Captain Dave!"

They immediately saluted their leader after disembarking from the boat.

"Good," Dave nodded in satisfaction.

"Divide into six teams. Follow these footprints. I want you all to search for that Nurse Joy and bring her to me alive. Got it?" he commanded loudly.

"Yes, Captain!" They shouted.

Then, they took out their Pokeball and threw them out.

Roar!

Twelve canine Pokemon appeared in front of them. They checked their surroundings carefully, and after not finding any threats, they stood in a row calmly.

Mightyena, a hyena Pokemon from the Hoenn region. Compared to the Arcanine from Kanto and Houndoom from Johto, Mightyena was much more common.

Their eyes were red with yellow sclerae with their teeth bared, making them look very scary. Their fur was mostly short and gray, but there was shaggy black fur on their lower legs, tail, and back, running the length of their body.

Mightyena was the favorite of many trainers because it had a very keen sense of smell and always obeyed their orders. A pack of Mightyena could also defeat a strong opponent with perfectly coordinated teamwork.

Team Aqua members rushed into the forest with the Mightyena in the lead. After that, they separated into six different teams to increase the range of their search.

Two Mightyena were sniffing the ground. Their trainers kept an eye out on their surroundings in the meantime.

Roar!

Suddenly, the Mightyena barked loudly, catching their attention. They seemed to find something as they growled at the bush opposite them.

They lowered their bodies, baring his teeth. This was a sign they gave when they were about to attack. Once they locked on their enemy, they wouldn't let them go until they became exhausted.

"Oh, hiding in the bush, are you, Nurse Joy?"

One of the Team Aqua members sneered.

"Come out and surrender!"

After waiting for a while, there was still no response from the bush. They looked at each other and told their Pokemon to attack calmly.

However, to their surprise, there was no one in the bush.

"Huh? Where are they? I thought they were here."

The other person couldn't help but ask. There was no one behind the bush.

The two Mightyena, of course, wasn't willing to give up just like that. They sniffed the ground and quickly dug a hole on the ground. Soon, a large egg and a pair of shoes came into their view.

Seeing the pair of shoes, the two trainers knew that they had been duped by Nurse Joy. On the other hand, why would she place a large egg here?

However, none of them knew that someone was watching them from the back.

"Gardevoir, do it," Hisoka whispered, revealing a wide smile.

Hearing that, she put her hands together and activated the trap they had set up earlier.

A crack suddenly appeared on the egg. The two Team Aqua members looked at each other, bewildered. Obviously, they didn't know what was going on.

The Mightyena sensed danger from the egg. They were far more sensitive to danger than humans. A peculiar smell gradually spread in the air as they quickly turned around and ran away.

"Run!"

One of the Team Aqua noticed that something was wrong and tried to flee, but it was already too late.

Boom!

The egg exploded. At the same time, a black powder immediately spread out throughout the area.

The egg they found was buried by his Chansey. He had added some pepper powder earlier. He had guessed that they were going to bring a tracking dog-type Pokemon to track them.

It looked like he was correct.

Against these kinds of Pokemon with a keen sense of smell, pepper powder worked much better than a simple attack. He had used this trick back in Stone Town, where he was ambushed by two Houndoom.

Egg Boom skill required collision to trigger. As the only long-range attack of Chansey, it would be hard for her to attack her opponent with her weak strength. Egg Bomb played a much better role in setting up a trap.

Roar!

The Mightyena rolled on the ground, trying to get rid of the burning sensation in their eyes and nose.

"My eyes!"

The two team trainers were also too busy to take care of themselves. Although their sense of smell was not as good as that of the Mightyena,

A few seconds later, they all were on the verge of collapse. They couldn't open their eyes because of the pain.

The Mightyena was even more miserable. They screamed in pain as they slowly and painfully passed out.

The movement here quickly attracted the attention of other members of Team Aqua. Hisoka could hear the sound of footsteps running toward them from all directions.

He carried Nurse Joy on his back. He quickly picked up Nurse Joy in a princess hug and asked Gardevoir to teleport them away to the beach. He was going to steal one of the boats left by Team Aqua just now.

He wasn't stupid enough to confront Team Aqua head-on with an injured person in his arms.

Less than a minute later, everyone had arrived at the place where the explosion had occurred just now.

Then, they hurriedly treated their fallen partners. Some others released their Pokemon, Dusoxtoc, which was a moth-like Pokemon with a purple buddy and a pair of wide green eyes.

Together, they worked to clear the powder away.

***

There were no people at the beach at this time. Two speedboats were sitting on the shore quietly.

Hisoka looked around a few times, making sure that no one was around before he quickly ran toward the boat. It seemed everyone was attracted to the explosion just now.

He gently placed Nurse Joy in the boat and came to the front. He then pushed the boat into the water with the help of Gardevoir's psychic.

After that, he jumped into the boat and started the engine. But before he could leave, he found that they were blocked by a man standing on a fish. To be precise, it was a Sharpedo.

There was no shark-like Pokemon around the world except for the Sharpedo from the Hoenn region. It was feared and known by many names such as Bully of the Sea, Ruffian of the Seas, Bandit of the Sea, or Gangster of the, due to its sharp teeth. It was also a Pokemon that Team Aqua often used.

Roar!

A giant blue whale came toward them. Then, Dave jumped off Sharpedo and landed on the Wailord.

Wailord was the final evolution of Wailord, one of the largest Pokemon in the world.

"Nice, you almost fooled me," Dave clapped lightly. "But do you think I won't catch your plan? Naive."

Hisoka shrugged in response. He knew the tracks he left behind must have been discovered by him. Although he had tried his best to cover up his footprints on the beach, he could not eliminate them all.

"Give her to me, and I can let you go," Dave said confidently.

"Let me go?" Hisoka sneered, "Do you think I will believe you?"

Dave shook his head and said, "Yes, I will let you go. One one condition. Kill the woman behind you and I'll let you join our team."

Hisoka fell silent at that. Meanwhile, Nurse Joy was looking at him worriedly.

"I'll give you a minute to think about it," Dave added.

"Gardevoir, Magical Leaf!"

Numerous green leaves formed around Gardevoir. She then waved her hand, sending those flying leaves at Wailord.

Even though it was large, its mass was much lighter than his Rhyperior. That meant its resilience wasn't as good as it appeared to be. It was a large target, making it impossible to avoid Gardevoir's Magical Leaf.

The leaves made numerous cuts on the Wailord as it groaned in pain due to the super effective damage.

In the end, the Wailord fell sideways into the sea, along with Dave.

Dave, who was soaking wet from head to toe, clenched his fist in anger.

"You little bastard! I swear, I will kill you!"

After being deceived by Hisoka, Dave immediately became angry as he cursed him loudly.

"Heh," Hisoka snickered, throwing another Pokeball out.

It popped open, and Milotic flew out with her signature cry.

"Milotic! Use Beam around Sharpedo!" he ordered quickly.

Hearing that, she immediately formed a silvery white energy ball in her mouth and fired it straight into the water around Sharpedo.

The surrounding water quickly froze, restraining it from chasing them. It also hit the ice when ice popped out just now.

Roar!

Sharpedo screamed in pain as it jumped out of the water, revealing its entire body. It looked somewhat like a shark torpedo and had a mouth full of sharp and pointy teeth. Its eyes were full of anger at them.

Following that, several Ice Beam hit the Sharpedo, freezing it into a large block of ice, knocking it out of the battle.

Taking this opportunity, he hurriedly drove the boat away from the island. His main priority now was to get Nurse Joy to a Pokemon Center. If he delayed any longer, her life would be in danger.
