Chapter 130 - Fossil Kabuto

Kinnow Island recently attracted many people's attention due to the discovery of a fossilized Kabuto. An excavation was underway. It was funded by many companies and research laboratories.

Since the discovery of prehistoric Pokemon in Grampa Canyon, many Pokemon that were thought to be extinct have been found around the world.

It wouldn't be too long for the prehistoric Pokemon to appear on a large scale in the future.

"Hello, everyone. We are going to meet the person in charge of this excavation. I believe we will soon have a better understanding of these Kabuto fossils."

A beautiful woman was standing in front of a camera, holding a mic.

"Okay!"

After the reporter nodded, the cameraman turned off the camera.

"Are we going to interview the director now?" he asked.

"Yes. I finally managed to get this amazing opportunity. We can't just waste it like that," she replied excitedly.

"Let's go meet the team. The other reporters are coming soon."

"Fossil Kabuto?"

A man and a woman peeked from behind a tree. The young man was Hisoka, while the sickly-looking woman was Nurse Joy.

They had heard what the report said just now. A few moments ago, they had just landed on the small island near Kinnow Island, separated by a shallow sea, where people could walk across during the tide changes.

In order to avoid being discovered by Team Aqua, he did not head straight to Kinnow Island. He was planning to stop on this island and walk toward the other side.

Usually, they weren't many people who came to this island, according to Nurse Joy. Kinnow Island was set up as a reserved island so wild Pokemon could thrive here.

He quickly gave a call to Kinnow Island Police Department about what they had experienced a few hours ago. After that, he decided to leave it to the police. They were much better a dealing with this kind of case. He didn't want to get involved with Team Aqua. He felt it would be a waste of time if he got involved with this.

We are now entering the excavation site. They had been here for the past two days."

The reporter introduced the site to the people watching on television as they walked a tent.

"As you can see, this is the fossil of Kabuto that everyone had been talking about recently."

The reporter pointed to a large flat gray stone on the table next to her and said, "It was found by a fisherman a few days ago. It had been confirmed that it was indeed a Kabuto."

Hisoka and Nurse then followed the news crew all the way to the excavation site.

"Now, the director is going to tell everyone the purpose of this excavation. Here director," said the reporter, handing the mic.

The director looked similar to Nurse Joy, except she was wearing a simple brown shirt and short pants.

"Nurse Joy?"

Hisoka was slightly startled. He then gently shook the shoulder of Nurse Joy he was carrying and said, "Nurse Joy, do you know her?"

Looking at where he was pointing, she saw another Joy talking in front of the camera.

Nurse Joy nodded weakly, "I know her. She is my cousin who is working at Kinnow Island Pokemon Center."

She then fainted shortly after saying that.

Instead of heading straight to that Joy, he gently placed her against a tree and wiped her face with a wet towel. After asking Gardevoir to guard her, he walked toward the excavation site.

He must get in touch in with her cousin as soon as possible. Her condition was getting worse.

On the other side, the interview was still going on.

Joy was a little excited while facing the camera.

"We hope to study the habitat of the extinct Kabuto. We also would like to find out the veracity of the claims about Kabuto oil."

"Kabuto oil? What's that?"

The reporter asked, her interest aroused.

"There was a legend a long time ago in the Orange Islands that Kabuto oil could be made into a youth elixir and health medicine.

"Youth elixer?"

The reporter shouted excitedly. She already knew what to submit to the editor today.

"It's just a legend," Joy smiled.

"It's impossible to stay young after all. There is no eternal immortality, even for those legendary Pokemon. They are just beings with a long lifespan. Still, Kabuto oil is indeed a very precious material."

"Miss Joy!"

Suddenly, someone came running toward them, interrupting the interview.

The reporter obviously became angry and wanted to say something to the man, but she was stopped by the cameraman. It would be best if they didn't conflict with the excavation staff, he told her.

"Yes? Is there anything going on?" asked Joy.

The man glanced at the news crew and told them to turn off the camera and left.

After they left, he turned toward the woods.

"Okay, you can come out now!" he shouted.

Under Joy's eyes, Hisoka slowly walked out, carrying Nurse Joy with two other men.

"Sister Joy!" Joy exclaimed.

She recognized the woman straight away. It was her cousin who always traveled around Orange Islands to provide free medical care.

Joey ran over quickly toward them.

"What happened to her?" she asked anxiously.

By now, Nurse Joy had fallen into a coma. Only Hisoka could answer her.

"She has a ruptured kidney and two broken ribs. We need to treat her now. I'll explain what happened later," Hisoka said seriously.

Joy nodded and turned toward the man standing next to her.

"Mr. Harvin, could you please transfer her to the medical station? I will treat her now."

They had set up a mobile ambulance near the excavation site in case there was an accident. Their sponsor had also provided them with many top medical equipment. It would be no problem for her to treat her injury.

"No problem, Miss Joy."

"I see."

Harvin, the security captain, responded and immediately led the two other men toward the center of the camp.

Although Joy was the director of this excavation team, the important decisions still needed to be discussed with Harvin.

Inside a large tent, Nurse Joy was lying on a simple bed equipped with a respirator. Joy tapped the syringe twice and injected the anesthetic into her body.

Meanwhile, Hisoka and the security personnel waited outside the tent as they talked to each other.

Then, Joy went to the computer and operated the machine to slowly cut through Nurse Joy's skin. She injected some repair fluid, and soon it started working as they repaired her broken ribs and kidney.

Thankfully, the surgery went smoothly. After that, it took half an hour to finish her up. With the medical technology in this world, trauma and internal injury were already at the top of their field. Only some diseases and viruses could cause them trouble. She would need to take at least half a month's vacation before she could go out.

Joy's face gradually regained its color as she moaned in relief. She hadn't woken up yet because she had lost a lot of blood earlier.

Outside the tent.

Harvin was deep in thought. As the head of security, he must make think about everyone's safety first. Although Hisoka saved NurseJoy, he still needed to make sure he was clean. He needed to do some investigation first.

Hisoka noticed the suspicion in Harvin's eyes, but he ignored it. He had been in this kind of situation before.

He didn't want to have a conflict with him because of a trivial matter, so he cooperated with his investigation. All of his information was publicly available anyway.

"You don't dress like a trainer."

Generally, trainers don't wear military clothing. Only mercenaries and poachers wore them to blend in with the environment.

"I didn't say I was a trainer," Hisoka shrugged.

"I'm Hisoka, from Kanto. Dark City gym leader and a hunter."

Hearing that, Harvin nodded. Gym leader identity removed his suspicion of Hisoka at least.

After making sure that his information was correct, Harvin gave him an apologetic smile.

"I'm deeply sorry for doubting you. But as a security, I needed to make sure that everything was safe."

"No worries," Hisoka waved his hand.

***

A memory card was inserted into the laptop. Hisoka, Harvin, and the other security guard stood inside a tent. This memory card was given by Nurse Joy before they escaped from the island.

Then, a group of people in Team Aqua dressing appeared on the screen. The Pokemon they had were different from the ones in Kanto and Johto. Most of them had Poochyena or Mightyena, similar to the ones he had back at his gym. The person leading the group was Dave.

He was commanding a gray-colored Pokemon with plates of silver armor. It had two long, sharp horns that shimmered coldly in the sun's reflection with pale blue eyes.

A large number of Mightyena and Poochyena scurried into the forest, trying to flee. Just like what Nurse Joy said, these guys didn't care about their safety at all. They only knew how to capture them. It didn't matter if you were alive or dead.

At the end of the video, under Dave's command, the black and white silver creature suddenly controlled a few sharp rocks and threw them at the camera. After a groan of pain, the video came to an abrupt end.

Thinking of Nurse Joy's injury, it should be caused by the big Pokemon, Aggron.

After watching the video, Harvin also knew what he and Nurse Joy had experienced. Even so, he didn't plan to meddle in someone else problem. His only task was to ensure the safety of the excavation team. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Sorry, I can't help you. I think it's better to leave this matter to the police," said Harven, after getting up from the chair.

"Me too," he nodded.

He didn't want to deal with these troubles. Best to leave it in the hands of the police.

What he wanted to know the most was his Hunter Exam.

'The Hunter Association should find me, right?' he thought.
