'a human? Aren't they humans too? They're not?' she asked herself, panicking in her mind.
Before she could think any further, she felt a strong arms yank her, pulling her forward. She noticed he was the one complaining she was slow back there.
If they were really going to kill her, couldn't she do as she pleased? It's her legs after all, not theirs. She thought to herself.
"Let go off me!" She yelled as they passed through the entrance. She didn't like the fact like she was being dragged like a criminal. She was a princess for goodness sake! She shouldn't be treated this way! She didn't even do anything!
"I said let go off...." Her voice trailed away as she saw the sight that welcomed her.
Blood! Surely Beowulf wouldn't attack his men, it only meant, Alexander and the rest were here. She just hoped it wasn't what she was thinking.
"What took you so long?? Trying to betray me?" He asked the men who were accompanying her earlier.
"We would never master! Our life is in your hands, we would never do such!" They defended their self while Elen stood aside, her eyes scanning the area and looking for who's blood was on Beowulf's hands.
"Come closer. Elliott." He said to the one who had called her a witch.
The man stepped closer and Elen didn't know why she gulped.
When Elliott had stepped closer, few seconds hadn't passed and she heard something snapping, more like bones being torn apart. Her eyes went wide with the scene she saw. Beowulf had beheaded Elliott without mercy, but that wasn't the problem.
There was no sword on his hands and it looked like his fingers elongated more than an average human. Did he just kill someone....w-with his bare hands?
Before she could think anything more, she heard him speak. "This is a lesson to whoever tries to disobey me. Roman, clean this up." He said nonchalantly and the men behind started to sweep the dead demon away.
Elen didn't ponder on what creature he was but what she did know was that, he had just sacrificed one of his men to warn her. He had used it to show her what her fate would be when she tries anything stupid. Elen was no fool to do anything that would cost her life. She didn't want to die! Not that way!
She gulped as she followed Beowulf. She didn't know where he was heading to but she had no other choice. Reaching a distance, he stopped and she furrowed her brows. From the side of his face, she could see him smile. 'this man sure is a psycho.' she thought to herself. Else, why would someone smile at absolutely nothing. He had been doing it for quiet sometime now and it made her want to stab him.
She saw him stare at the ground and she gasped loudly when she caught sight of who it was. 'Alexander!' She said in her mind.
"Please let me go! I need to see him. Please!!" She begged as tears streamed down her eyes. The men had held her hands tightly, not giving her room to escape from their hold.
"Let the lady be." Beowulf instructed, and without another word, she ran towards her husband.
She gasped seeing the sword on his stomach. He was bleeding! He was in pain! Her Alex was in pain!
"Please Alex don't go. I need you." She whispered to him as her tears dropped on his coat.
It had been barely two months since they got married and the man she loved was dying? Was he really dying? She hadn't confessed her feelings. She wanted a life with him, a family with him! She wanted him and then their children who would stay with them. How did it come to this? She didn't even do anything wrong. She still didn't understand why Beowulf was doing this! What were his motives?!
"A-alex please, you'll be fine don't go. You're not dying! I won't let that happen." She said as her tears poured even more.
"I wonder how you'll do that though." Beowulf commented.
"A-alex. I'll remove the sword, you're bleeding." She said but Alexander stopped her making her crease her brows.
"No. You can't, you and I would both die if you do that." He said as he held her hands together. Blood seeped from the corner of his mouth. He was loosing too much blood! Elen thought.
"Nothing will happen, you'll be alright. I'll do something. I can't let you die."
Beowulf yawned with a bored expression, seeing the couple in a helpless state. They were newlyweds and yet their fate was against them.
"I'll give you more light on this Elen dear." Beowulf finally said, making her shift her gaze from Alexander to him.
Seeing that he caught her attention, he began to speak. "You see, Alexander was stabbed with a poisoned sword, not the poisons for humans but of our kind. We have different things that could harm us. I stabbed him with the poisoned sword , but don't worry he won't die now, he'll probably die in a few minutes, a slow and painful death. How long since I've tortured someone, it feels so refreshing." He said and Elen gazed at Alexander, determined to remove the sword from his stomach.
Her ears caught the words, 'our kind.' but didn't ponder more on it. She had other things to solve than to think of baseless things.
"I'll remove this." She said but he shook his head.
"Beowulf....where are my men?"
"Oh, they're probably all bloody and sweaty. They're fighting off my men, I did it to distract them. Don't worry, they'll be dead in minutes." Beowulf said as he continued drawing something on the air.
Hearing this, Elen's face turned pale. It was hers and Alexander's fight. They'll have to do this together but he had to cooperate too right?
"Alex....I won't let you die. Never." She said and without warning, pulled the sword out of him. Beowulf grinned at this, it seemed he would watch both of them die. Alexander had lost so much blood that he doubted his survival, while Elen being the foolish human that she was, dug her own grave by pulling out the forbidden sword.
The deaths are sure going to be much. He thought.
.....
"They're too many of them! How did they even get here?" Lucas commented.
"Everything was alright. They attacked out of nowhere. These demons aren't elites." Robert spoke.
"Of course, they're the lowly ones who wants to be upgraded to a higher position. Not that they'll ever get it. But it's good to dream." Robert said, as he snapped a demon's head. Lucas and Lago were using swords, while the rest were using their hands which were even better than sword.
Blackish blood filled the area as they had finished off the demons but they could rejoice soon because their body started to regenerate. Those weren't ordinary demons. They were the first bred ones. How did Beowulf get a hold of them? How did he turn them to his puppets?
"If we continue to fight like this, I doubt we'd find his highness. We need to distract them and leave." Finn said and with that, they spread. Leaving some if the demons clashing towards themselves.
They ran towards where Alexander was kept with Beowulf and their eyes widened. The princess was clutching her chest as if she was in pain, they noticed the sword out of Alexander's stomach and they could only guess the princess removed it.
Amadeus and Lucas walked towards their prince while Finn, Lago and Robert went to help the princess. Not that they knew what to do.
Alexander had lost much blood in his body that they doubted a handful of blood was left in it, Helena had removed the sword and there was no doubt that she'll die. Perhaps it was better that way, they would both spare themselves some pain in the future.
"Princess! Are you alright?" Robert asked.
"...my chest. I feel like a thousand knives are in my chest." She said as she screamed.
"I'm sorry your highness. We couldn't do anything to help."
"Is Alexander going....to b-be fine? It'll give me peace after I'm gone." She asked and they stayed silent.
"Ahhh! I can't take this anymore. Just kill me already!" She pleaded and Robert felt the corner of his eyes prickle with tears. He had been attached to her since she came to the castle, it reminded him of Bianca. His highness was sure unfortunate. He lost his first love and now he's losing his wife. Elen had been like a younger sister to him and he had always wanted a sister like her.
"I'm sorry your highness." He said and a tear dropped down.
Alexander who was laying flat on the ground tried his best to reach to his wife but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Elen, despite the pain reached for him to touch him. "I'm sorry. It's all going to end here." She whispered.
"Why? Why Elen, why did you do it?" He asked her in a coarse voice.
"I'm sorry." She said and he shook his head.
"Have I ever told you that I love you....ahh! I really love you Alex and I'm regretting why I hadn't told you that morning."
"I'm sorry. I failed to realize. I didn't love you like every husband should. I'm sorry you're going through this because.....of me. I don't deserve it."
"It's alright. I'm glad that I'm dying in your arms. I love you Alex." She said and closed her eyes.
"Nooooo!!!" Alexander screamed all his lungs out. His wife....was dead and he couldn't do anything about it. Why was destiny so cruel to him. She hadn't done anything and yet she received this! Why? Why??
"Wow! That was one dramatic performance." Beowulf said as he chuckled.
"If she had listened to me and accepted my proposal, she would still be hale and hearty." Beowulf said as he shook his head. "What a pity,"
"I just have to wait for all the blood to drain out of your body." Beowulf commented as he stared at the couple on the ground.
......
Hehe, done my part of the deal, enjoy. XOXO!!
