Chereads / MARRIED TO A DEMON LORD / Chapter 83 - Witch

Chapter 83 - Witch

Alexander stood in the eerie mountain. He didn't know why it was called frost mount because from what he could see here, not a single speck of snow could be seen. Instead it felt strangely hot.

"I'm sure going to kill him myself." Alexander muttered to himself as he walked through the place. From what he knew, there was supposed to be a cave here, but this place looked empty, and filled with little to no plants.

He walked further noticing a small cave afar, he thought to go there as they must have kept his dear wife there. He didn't love her but he was attached to her and cared for her as she was his wife. He was bound to protect her and here he failed, all because of one wrong move.

He walked further but winced in pain, he realized the poison spreading through his body. He needed to keep going, he needed to save his wife before he finally gave out. His men would come sooner and he would entrust his wife in their care.

.....

Amadeus and the rest of the men appeared at the eerie place but in different locations. It took them a while to locate themselves.

"We need to go fast, his highness must still be close by." Robert spoke and they nodded, they moved further without wasting any more time.

"I can see his highness from here." Lucas said and they turned towards the place he pointed.

"He looks....weak." Lucas said the last part in a low voice out of dread. Was his prince really weak? Impossible right?

They ran towards him and saw him crouch on the floor.

"Your highness!" They said as they heard him groan in pain. Lucas moved to remove the sword but Alexander stopped him.

"Your highness! The poison is spreading!" Lucas warned and Alexander smiled, a bitter smile.

"You'll only kill yourself...." He said and when Lucas was about to protest, he spoke. "We need to save my wife. I don't know what condition my wife's in. We n-need to go." He said and Lucas stepped back with great difficulty.

"I want Finn and Lago to go into the cave and distract them. Find time for us to come in." Alexander said and they moved forward.

"The three of you will stay here with me." Alexander said to Robert and the other two.

"Beowulf might try something, keep an eye on the surroundings while I look for a place to get into the cave." Alexander said to them and they nodded.

Truth was, it pained them to see their prince in such state. Fighting for his wife meant he really cared for her. He might have a cold heart but he had a soft corner for his wife.

.....

In the cave, countless of men surrounded the entire place with a man sitting on a throne like chair. His eyes closed as he smiled at something.

"Master." A man said with his head bowed. The man on the throne furrowed his brows as to why this person came to disturb him. Didn't he say he should keep an eye on the entrance?

His eyes snapped open. Eyes darker than what it used to be. "What is it?" He asked in a dull tone.

"They're here." The man said and he was dismissed.

Beowulf let out a long and dry chuckle, the men who were with him had no other choice but to chuckle with their master, else it would lead to their heads rolling on the floor.

"My brother has finally come to fetch his wife." He said, sarcasm filled in his tone.

Hearing this Elen who was being held like a hostage, her eyes lit up in hope - well she was actually a hostage. She didn't know how it happened, one moment she was in Alexander's bedroom, she felt a sharp pain on her head which turned her unconscious. The next moment she found herself in this dark cave.

At first she thought her dream came true and she was going to get killed, but when she heard a familiar voice, she knew this was far from her dream. Does it mean she would get kidnapped twice? She only wanted the man she loved, how did it end up like this?! Elen thought to herself.

"Dear Helena, or should I call you Elen. Your useless husband is here to fetch you, but I wonder how he'll do that though." Beowulf said with a pleasant smile.

"He will come fetch me, and you'll realize how big of a mistake you've made." Elen said with a glare.

"My, my. You sure have a running mouth for someone who is going to die very soon." He said, shaking his head.

"But those mouth of yours can be put to better use before dying right? It would be sure great to have a taste of my brother's meal right?" He said with a lustful gaze as he placed his hands on her thighs.

"Take your filthy hands off of me!" She yelled and he backed off.

"Sure. It makes me want to have you in front of your husband's eyes then kill him right in front of your eyes. How about that?"

"Or you can be my queen after your husband's death. You are a beautiful lady and I wouldn't let that beauty be placed in the dust. Take my offer and I'll give you what your husband couldn't provide." He said but Elen spat on him making him furious. He gave her a hard slap on the cheek, turning her cheek bright red.

"I'd rather die than be a Queen to a monster like you." She spat.

"Then so be it. I'll take you right in front of Alexander's eyes and kill the both of you." He said and ordered for his men to start moving.

"Bring the liquid, I wouldn't want to be accused of rape later. Would I now?" He said with a small smirk on his face.

"Yes master." And with that Beowulf walked ahead leaving a few men to untie her.

Elen sat still as she watched them untie her, there was something different about these people, something she couldn't point out. Was it because her mind was in a mess and she couldn't think well? It couldn't be it. There was surely something going on that didn't sit right with her, and to top it all, Beowulf's iris turned much more darker than it was.

'Vampires? No, vampires has red eyes and they do not exist.'

Not thinking much on it and trying to find a way to help herself. She didn't want to die, not yet.

They finally let her loose and she was surprised that they didn't hold her like they did.

Just when she took a step forward, she heard one of the men speak, "don't try running princess. It would only make us want to torture you more." He said and she knew better than to do anything foolish. The injuries they had inflicted on her face still hurts. She was a woman with a fragile body, she had never thought of this happening to her. Also, she wanted to see her Alexander alive.

They moved forward with Elen taking her own sweet time walking. 'she sure has some nerves for a prisoner like her.' one of the men thought.

"If you could walk faster princess. Beowulf wouldn't want us arriving at the scene late." The man explained, and Elen smiled, even though this was not a situation for her to smile. She somehow found his words a little amusing.

"I'm sure you know I'm a princess. I'm not subjected to walking for long minutes. Also shouldn't you consider that I've been stuck sitting in a chair for God knows when." She said rolling her eyes.

"These are one of the reasons I hate these royals. Always feeling so high and mighty." One of the men scoffed.

"It's her nerve irking me."

"I really don't know why master has kept her alive till now. She should be dead. Such annoying insect."

Elen listened to their conversation, since it would take probably minutes to be out of the cave, she would at least hear the trash they had to say about her, and when they're later on the receiving end, she'll make sure to cut their tounges out. She thought to herself. Not that she could do it.

"...an idiot. How come she has not gone unconscious after all the amount of soft torture." She heard them say, and it also made her wonder why. She shook her head not wanting to have any of those thoughts.

"She's not what she seems to be. Probably a witch." She heard them say making her roll her eyes.

"If she's a witch, she would have burned us all. She holds no abilities. She just happens to have a strong stamina for a human." One of them said and her ears caught on the last words.

'a human? Aren't they humans too? They're not?' she asked herself, panicking in her mind.
