"Just do as I say. I know what I'm doing." Bruce answered his unspoken question.
With a reluctant sigh, Alexander finally nodded. He disappeared with the rest of the men leaving Bruce and the servant.
Bruce stared at the servant for a while and a slight smirk curved on his lips. "Good job, now leave." Bruce instructed and the man lowered his head and spoke.
"Call me if you need anything more. My lord."
"Leave or I might just hand you back to my good friend."
The servant awkwardly chuckled and left without saying a word. Bruce stood there for a long while, he placed both his hands on his face and muttered. "One step done now. This is going to be a tough one."
He silently stood with his eyes closed. Planning on his next moves. He had never expected his plan to be foreseen by Beowulf. Everything had been put to waste and he had to find another way out of this.
He stood still without moving an inch, the servant had been long gone and he was left in the large hall. He opened his eyes which had turned red and muttered some words with an evil smirk.
....
Alexander and his men had reached a dark part of the city. It was deep and it almost felt like an illusion.
Alexander jumped to the ground, only landing few feet away. Looking at it from a far distance, one would think it was a deep end and would be wary to jump off and landing in such a place.
Alexander's men who had seen their prince jump were becoming alert. Why did he jump off? Should they follow him? They thought to themselves but then they couldn't stay here, they would definitely follow him wherever he went. But was he fine? Why's he not saying a thing?
Lucas stepped forward and spoke. "I'll go first. I'll inform if anything's going on." But his words were shunned and Amadeus being the leader stepped forward and held him back.
"No need, I'll go first, and no argument, it's final." He said not wanting to hear any objections, Lucas only sighed and watched Amadeus prepared to jump.
If they were going to save the princess, they would have to sacrifice even their lives. Having this big city, it would be hard to know or even guess where the princess was being held, but they had to try. They needed to find her and at all costs.
This city was large and Beowulf had many acquaintances whom he could confide in and have them help him. It would be hard to turn them against him.
Amadeus jumped into the dark abyss and his brows creased, not because he realized that it was nothing but an illusion but because he couldn't sense the prince presence.
"Sh*t! I have to call the others," He muttered, and called out to them.
Hearing their names being called, they pulled out a sigh of relief, his tone didn't sounded like the prince was in danger so they could only hope that their thoughts were proven to be right. They couldn't afford to let harm befall their prince, they would rather lay their life in other to protect him.
They all jumped down without an apprehensive look and just like Amadeus, they were shocked to find out that it was only an illusion and it was just few feet away.
Amidst the darkness, Amadeus found their silhouette and approached them, he went straight to the point without twisting words. "The prince is not here." He spoke and their eyes turned wide with only two words screaming in their head. 'Oh no!'
How did it happen? They saw him jump down and they were sure he jumped down from here, if only they knew he was going to jump down, they wouldn't have left him! But would their prince listen? He was very adamant on finding his wife and his rationality is far from him. He would kill without thinking twice and it's definitely not a good sign. Their prince, when angry can cause destruction to a whole city and that was one thing they didn't want to happen!
"How do we find him? I can see different paths from here. How do we know the route he took." Lucas panicked.
"Let's follow his scent." Suggested Finn.
Robert piped in. "Have you forgotten? The prince has no scent like the rest of us. We can't track him using his scent because it's impossible, he's different and we can only hope he hasn't gone far." He reasoned out and they ran their hands on their head.
"They are three different routes. Finn and Robert, take the left, Lucas and lago would take the right. I'll take the middle." Amadeus said and they nodded.
They went their separate ways and Amadeus heard a voice that echoed, "Be careful, we still have unfinished business." Robert said and Amadeus lips pulled up and replied, "of course."
The darkness swallowed them up and all that could be seen was nothing but the empty ground who had no sign of people.
......
"Where do you think his highness must have gone? I see nothing but darkness in here." Asked Lucas to Lago, they were in a different path and they could barely see, not even a life could be sensed in here.
Lucas doubted their prince must have gone through any of these paths. "You're right, it seems he just disappeared into thin air, he must have gone somewhere where we wouldn't be able to find him, that explains why he jumped down without informing any of us." Reasoned Lago, Lucas nodded in agreement and they continued to walk in the empty place.
Walking closer, they could hear voices, had their prince caught someone and was now pressing for an answer. Hope flickered in their eyes but it dimmed down all too soon because the voices Lucas heard was familiar but he tried not think much about it.
But the further they went, the louder and familiar the voice became. Lucas and lago both gave each other knowing looks. The voice became louder and they knew they were getting close. They stopped at an end and they heard Robert's blabbing voice.
The five men stood in the middle of the dark ground, and they all looked at each other in confusion. Why did they end up together? Weren't they supposed to end in different places, so what's this now?
They both gave each other questioning gazes as to why they ended up together again, silence enveloped the dark grounds until Lucas spoke.
"It's the illusion." He whispered in a way no one would hear him but since the place was silent, they heard him clearly.
Their eyes widened in realization as they realized that they had fell for the illusion, the only possible way was to find a route which was almost impossible as they couldn't break through the illusion. Where the hell was Bruce?! He should've been here by now!
"I didn't realize that Lione would cover such long distance in a short period of time." Muttered Amadeus.
"You shouldn't underestimate Lione's capabilities when orders are being passed down from his master. I knew he would do a great job but what I didn't know was that we would be caught up in this fucking illusion." Robert said. His last sentence had him grit his teeth.
"We have to find his highness, but we have no idea where he might have gone. I doubt he would come for us as I doubt he even realizes our existence." Lucas said and they clenched their fists.
It was one thing to find the princess and it was another thing to find their prince who had disappeared into air. They didn't know whom to go after, the princess or their prince?
The princess' life was in danger and so was Alexander's, they remembered that the sword was still planted in his stomach, the poison would only make him weaker and only someone powerful would be able to pull it out.
They feared for both their prince and the princess. Lucas wondered if he would have the strength to fight off ten men, he had noticed the prince portraying weakness and it made him fucking worried.
What would happen when the prince is attacked and captured? What then? Lucas thought to himself.
"We need Bruce's help. I don't know if he'll respond but we need to try." Came Lucas' words.
