"It's a simple stab, it'll heal with time Alexander. Why are you panicking?" Bruce said, his gaze was not facing Alexander but it was fixed on the window.
Alexander chuckled at his statement and his gaze became cold.
"And when did my life become so simple? I was stabbed with a poisoned sword and you call that a simple stab?" Alexander retorted and Bruce stood still, his gaze never leaving the window. It was as if he was thinking about something more intense and Alexander's wound didn't matter to him. A smirk curved on his lips. 'I can't predict this man sometimes. Wasn't this his wish all along? I wonder what changed? Must be his wife's doing!'
"When did your life even become so important to you Alexander. As far as I can remember, you used to act recklessly, you never cared if you died or not and now you're panicking cos of a stab?"
"Bruce..." Alexander mumbled under his breathe.
"Still, it hurts." Alexander answered which shocked Bruce. He removed his gaze from the window and turned it back to him.
"Hurts? It really hurts?" Bruce asked. Now his voice was painted with disbelief and suspicion.
"Of course it hurts. What kind of a question is that?!" Alexander said, turning slightly angry which made Bruce narrow his eyes at him, looking like he's seeing something unbelievable.
"If it hurts that much then why don't you remove the sword Alexander?"
"I've told you earlier, nothing in my life is simple. I can't remove it now so I have to bear with the pain." Alexander commented but Bruce wasn't still satisfied.
"Don't you think your emotions are getting a better of you these days?" He asked. He knew Alexander and he does not easily answer a question unless he feels like it, also he really doesn't shows his anger because he knows it would end up being a disaster, so him answering questions and getting riled up easily is really a mystery to Bruce and he knew it wasn't a simple case.
After a long pause of silence, Alexander finally spoke. "I think so too but I feel like these aren't my emotions because my emotions easily gets messed up. It's affecting me greatly and I need to find a way to stop it."
After hearing his response, Bruce smiled meaningfully. "Do you love your wife?" He asked.
Alexander was quite startled and he turned to look at Bruce, but all too soon, that shocked expression on his face was gone and his face became cold as usual. "You know the truth. Let's go!" He commanded and Bruce sighed, he knew they still needed to find the princess. They had an idea on where's she's being kept and they knew Beowulf wouldn't dare to hurt her and that was why Alexander could still keep his calm.
'seems that question startled him and he's right! I know the truth....why am I even asking?'
.....
Everything had been set. Alexander's five men and some few other soldiers were waiting outside of the palace gates. Bruce and Alexander were preparing their armours.
King Arit and Queen Alisha stood beside Alexander saying some words to him.
"Son be careful. That place is dangerous and please don't act recklessly." Arit warned, though his voice was cold it could be noticed that he still cared for his son.
Alexander stopped for some seconds and looked at his father.
"I'm not foolish like your son. I have a wife to protect, and even if you don't tell me, I have senses of my own." Alexander said and queen Alisha gave him a disapproving look.
"Alexander, please talk to your father politely okay? He's only trying to look out for you and please take care. Don't hurt yourself more than you already have. It gives me heartache to still see that sword planted in your stomach." Alisha said and Alexander's gaze turned soft.
"I will mother. I won't hurt myself anymore because I still need to save my wife." He said and his mother nodded I approval. She hugged him and whispered some words in his ears which he creased his brows upon hearing them. His mother had a sly smile on her lips as she gazed at her son's creased brows.
When they were all done getting ready. They headed towards the place only few knew about. It would take days, perhaps even weeks but they had their tricks to move faster.
......
They had reached the heart of the forest and they stopped their horses, they all got down. Their gazes were intense and cold. If one were to look at them that moment, they would definitely flinch in fear.
Alexander closed his eyes but before he could focus Bruce called out his name.
"What?"
"Do you really want to do this? The princess might find out everything about you and don't you think it would leave her devastated and make her fear you? Don't you think she'll never want to see your face anymore. Alexander, this is going to change the whole cause of your marriage. Be prepared." Bruce said but Alexander didn't comment further.
He closed his eyes but opened them again. Had it been normal cases , he would have ignored his comment but his emotions had been messed and it was as if he couldn't control them anymore.
"I had already prepared for this and if showing her everything about me means saving her, then I'm more than ready."
"Alright then. Since you've made up your mind we should start mov..." Bruce said and in the blink of an eye there were all gone, leaving him all alone in the forest.
"They left me here! How dare they?! Sigh....I need to catch up with them." He spoke alone and he disappeared, leaving tiny freckles of dust in the air.
