"Would you still like to try?" He asked in a mocking tone and they remained silent. The brave faces had turned scared and they were visibly trembling.
Alexander moved and they began to attack. Lucas had his guard up, even though they could do nothing to hurt his prince, he still needed to keep guard and fight with his prince.
Thus, he picked up his sword and slashed a number of throats in one swift movement. He didn't put much effort, this was way too easy. He had expected prince Beowulf's soldiers to be agile and powerful, he had expected them to be a challenge to him but the result was in the least of what he expected. They were way too weak! They weren't even qualified to be soldiers! Who trained these people anyway?!
Alexander and Lucas kept fighting their way through until no guard was left standing. It was similar to what Lucas had done to the royal guards, they didn't kill any of the soldiers but none of them were in a perfect condition to walk normally, not even talk properly. They were either stuttering or not even talking at all. The few ones who were still able to open their mouths pleaded for mercy. They knew the consequences of fighting a royal for no accurate reason. But they did nothing wrong! They were just following their prince's instructions. Even if they were to get into any kind of trouble, their prince would save them. He was the one who ordered them to do so. He had the authority to bail them out if they ever got punished. He was the crown prince after all. Their soon-to-be King.
"Take them to your quarters and add a little salt to their wounds. Don't let them die. They'll watch their coward prince die in my hands before I give them the most miserable death they wouldn't dare imagine." Alexander said and they all gulped in fear. 'He'll kill their prince? A death they couldn't dare to imagine?!! What kind of death is that?! Just kill us straight, don't torture us!!' They screamed in their head.
"Your highness please forgive us! We were just following ord --"
Lucas shut the so called leader with a hard punch on his jaw. "Do you call what you did following orders? Joining hands with your evil crown prince to kidnap the princess is what you called order?!! I personally will make sure y'all regret ever working for your prince?" Lucas said with a dangerous gaze in his eyes. His soft and kid nature had now transformed into an angry monster waiting for the right moment to pounce in his prey. His eyes gleamed of a dangerous threat that they all resigned to their fate. If this kid here could be this menacing, what more of Robert and Amadeus?! They'll just kill them without wasting a single second. They thought to themselves.
"Now Lucas. Take them to your quarters. Don't take them to the dungeon. They MUST not die!" Alexander instructed and Lucas nodded. He took a step forward as he instructed some palace guards who were seen roaming about to carry the 'as good as dead' soldiers.
He was about to leave but then halted again. He had forgotten the task assigned to him, and he even helped his prince with it! But how could he not, when these useless piece of trash pointed their swords at their esteemed prince??
He turned to his prince with a pleading gaze. That dark aura that filled him a moment ago was gone and was replaced with a protective one. His job was to protect the prince even if it costs his life. He would at least die protecting the prince of his birth home.
"I'm sorry but I can't do what you've instructed of me." He said with a lowered gaze, avoiding eye contact with his prince. Alexander smirked as if reading his thoughts. He knew this soldier of his won't leave until he protects him with his last breathe. He knew Lucas and he had just took him in when he was just fifteen. He was an orphan whom he saw roaming in the market without any care, but even with that he had an agile body and his eyes gleamed of uncontrollable faith and determination. Faith that someday, someone would be his savior, and never in his life did he think that the prince of Lucrain would be his savior.
Alexander had trained him to be a powerful and strong soldier. A soldier who would never give in to his enemies, rather, he'd die on the battlefield. Alexander knew how his rage could be when provoked and it could be very dangerous. People saw him as a young soldier, most of them thought of him as a kid but only he knew that he was more than that. He was a strong person with a body of a kid. He reminded Alexander of himself when he was young, he only thought of him as a younger brother and that was why he was protective of him. He knew that Lucas secretly follows him whenever he left the palace. It would have been fine if he followed him but anytime he left the palace without any escorts, it was on a dangerous mission. That's why he never allowed him follow even if done secretly, and now this younger brother was willing to disobey him just to protect him? Funny!
Lucas just stared at his prince with an expectant gaze who seemed to be lost in thoughts. Just as he was about to speak, Alexander patted his shoulder which shocked Lucas. 'Huh?! I was expecting a harsh rejection. What's this?!'
"Lucas....I know you're trying really hard to protect me. You fully know well I don't need any kind of protection? Listen to me, and do what I've instructed of you." He said in a calm tone. A tone he had never used to anyone except for his mother, Queen Alisha.
"But your highness, it's my du -"
"It's also your duty to get the truth out of these criminals. They must know where my wife is being kept."
"Your highness....prince Beowulf might not tell them, he must have known about your moves and he'll think ahead of that."
"Just torture them and I'll take care of the rest. Give them a heart wrenching torture that they'll beg to be killed instead."
"Your high -"
"Do you or do you not want the princess to be saved?" He asked and this time there was a threat in his voice.
Lucas reluctantly nodded and turned towards the soldiers who caused the prince to chase him away. He glared at them and clenched his fists into tight balls. He had remembered Bruce had told them go keep an eye on the prince at all times. How would they do that when he keeps chasing them away?? Bruce' is the only one who can help him with this now. What's keeping them so long?! They ought to be here by now! If he should leave here now, his guy feeling told him that the aftermath would be a disaster. Still, he needed to obey his prince and send these useless men and give them the torture they never would have imagined.
