Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Jessica's POV

After punching in the passwords, the lock clicked open and the familiar lobby greeted me. "Your besties home!" I yelled as I took off my shoes and entered the house.

"Jesssssssssssssss!" I could hear Rose run out of her room as she heard me come in and I let out a glad laugh as she hugged the hell out of me. She was dangling off the floor as she wrapped her legs around my waist making me carry her heavy ass.

"That's enough. You're gonna kill me like this." I said as I patted her back. "Alright, alright." She said as she let me go and landed on the marble floor.

"Therapy session! Chop Chop! We've alot of talkings to do." Rose said as she dragged me to my room and helped me undress. When she was done undressing me, she pushed me to the shower, my protests being ignored by her.

I shook my head as I smiled and took a shower as she told me to. What did I do to deserve such a sweet bestie? I am blessed. I wouldn't mind if I got to be single my whole life as long as I get Rose beside me. I was never a fan of romance and commitment anyway. Yeah, there are times when I go 'Aw' when I see cute couples but that's it. I love my freedom more than commitment.

"It's just a freaking shower! What's taking you so long?" I laughed as I heard an impatient Rose yell outside the door. Geez, I only got to turn my shower on. How long has it been? A minute? Such an impatient ass. I rolled my eyes as I ignored someone yelling outside my bathroom and continued showering.

When I walked out, my usual clothes were laid out next to Rose who was sprawled on my bed like a freaking starfish. Dramatic much? I just took a shower and she is outta her energy and enthusiasm. I laughed as I got dressed, which made Rose open her eyes and glare at me.

"What did you do there? What took you so long? I shouldn't have sent you inside to take a shower. I should have dragged you to my room to take the therapy session." She grumbled under her breath, making me chuckle.

She then told me alot of stories where the character who was an adopted child like me always had the best ending with the most handsome man. She told me how I shouldn't be discouraged and accept the truth instead of telling myself the otherwise. She told me all I had to do was go with the flow and what my heart says.

It's really nice to have someone who will encourage you when you're having the shitiest days. Usually, most of us can only save ourselves and cheer ourselves when we are met up with obstacles but I am really blessed to have someone who will encourage me and put some senses in my head.

"Thanks Rose. I will keep that in mind. Thanks for being there for me all the time." I said as I hugged her. She hugged me back and fell on to her side, moving her legs above my torso to turn the hug into a cuddle. I laughed as she did that and closed my eyes, loving the feeling of her warm body. Rose loves cuddles and we used to cuddle quite often but with the preparation of graduation and all, we couldn't cuddle for a while.

"Reminds me of old, cheerful and carefree days." Rose sighed and I nodded, totally agreeing with her. "Yeah-"

"By the way, how did your and Tyler's date go?" I asked her as I raised my head to look into Rose's eyes.

"What do you mean?" she asked with confusion on her face. I untangled myself from her and sat upright. This certainly isn't a matter that can be dealt with while cuddling.

"You know exactly what I mean. Weren't you and Tyler out on the date when I visited my parents?" "Oh, that." Rose chuckled as realization hit her. "Yeah, that." I teased her and she rolled her eyes.

"It wasn't a date. We were just out, walking and talking about our life before we met each other. Nothing much happened really. Just a friendly stroll. That's all." She said as she tore the bag of crisps open and started munching on it.

"Oh, really? That's all?" I asked her with a bit of teasing in my voice but she just nodded and shrugged it off.

"Did you want something more to happen than what happened between you two?" "Shut up, Jess. We're just friends and you know that there isn't anything between us. After all, I haven't felt butterflies or anything of sorts for almost a year and I want it to stay that way."

"Pft, stop lying. I know you get butterflies when you read those Wattpad books." I rolled my eyes as a flood of memories where she bugged me and begged me to read Wattpad popped in my head.

"OMG! How could I forget that?! Well, since you know it, it doesn't matter then. Wait! What are we doing here? We're supposed to be at the mall right now!" Rose was freaking out when she checked the time.

"Calm down. It's just 12, we have alot of time for shopping." "Right. Sorry, just one of my mood swings." She apologized as she winked and walked out of my room. I shook my head at her childishness.

"We're going shopping so get ready!" She yelled outside my room and I just groaned and stood up to get dressed. We have quite a share of clothes in our closets since we've been to so many shopping things with Shane when he was single. It's not like we're going shopping because we don't have clothes to wear to Shane's party but because she just wants to. I am not gonna complain because this will help me get my mind off things.

-------------

I was exhausted as we were done shopping. It was about 5pm and we decided to just drive directly to Shane's party location. Rose was still very energetic, singing beside me as she drove and I just lied there in the passenger seat, taking all the space to myself and zoning out sometimes.

"Rose! Pull over!" I yelled as I realized we were around our neighborhood. I would rather go into a good deep slumber than to go out there, mingling with horny teenagers. I took all the shopping bags and hopped out of the car.

"What are you doing?" Rose asked as she rolled down the car window.

"I am not going. I need my beauty sleep. Sorry Rose, you will be on your own but I doubt that you're gonna be left alone there. You're the one who usually ditches me and enjoys your time on your own anyway." I scoffed, making Rose scrunch her nose as if that offended her.

"Fine sleeping beauty. Get some sleep. I am not bringing any food tonight and I am not even sure I am gonna be there so sweet dreams." She said as she rolled the windows over, reigniting the engine to get going.

"Ok. Have fun with your date!" I said as I waved at her. She stepped on the brakes and rolled down the window that was half-closed.

"I've told you; Tyler isn't my date!" She yelled from her driver seat and I laughed.

"I didn't mention who and you just admitted. There is no use arguing. Get going or you won't get to have your time with him." I said as I winked at her, making her roll her eyes as she was clearly annoyed with me.
