Near the old country of Japan, a giant squid was swimming toward a port of surviving humans. The beast just attained the equivalent level of Avatar Establishment called Avatar Beast level. The squid was faster and more massive than the average giant squid that existed hundreds of years ago.
Just offshore, the squid breached. Its energy use and hunger caused it to search crazily for food. The smell of fish and the blood of humans attracted it to a fishing village in an old naval port. The creature's tentacles flew out of the water and crashed into the docks.
A human fisherman has blasted off the dock until a tentacle caught him and was thrown into the squid's belly.
*Crunch* The man was devoured.
Seeing the beast attack the village, a fish boat captain sailed his boat straight into the beast to try and wound it. The sailors onboard felt like they slammed against a mountain upon the impact. The squid wrapped its lengthy appendix around the bow and drug the ship under. The angered beast sprayed ink everywhere, covering most of the huts black.
A young boy in a hut with a woman was suiting up to battle the squid outside. His long black hair was tied back. He wore a make-shift armor outfit that was a combination of a blue jumpsuit and pads all over. He placed the katana on his back.
*Crashing noises*
"AHHHhhhhhhh!" screamed a man outside.
The neighbor's wife watched as a tentacle burst through their house and squished her husband. "What have we done to bring this demon to our doorstep," pleaded the lady. The tentacle grabbed her up and was eaten.
In the next hut over, "I must go out there. I am the last swordsman of the Nakamura Family. I must protect the village." The boy unsheathing his sword ran out of the hut.
"Noo….Hiro-kun. Come back. Please..." the mother yelled.
Around the age of 17, a boy steps out into the world of terror. A sea beast, the size of the mountain, was destroying his village. The horror of ink, blood, and destruction was everywhere he looked. His fear turned into anger quickly.
Focusing his strength and channeling a prayer to the god Susanoo. Lightning started moving through his body to the boy's blade. The katana began to admit a crackling sound, and purple electricity walked up and down the edge. Hiro looked toward the giant and ran towards it with all his might.
The Nakamura family practiced a sword style that used energy. When energy returned to this world, the dying sword art could shine again. Sadly, the local beasts killed most of the family, leaving only Hiro and his mother. Hiro only wanted to honor his ancestors and showcase the Nakamura Sword Style.
"Riaken! Dieeeee beast!" Hiro lunged at one of the squid's tentacles.
The beast noticed the tiny insect going towards one of its arms, and it lashed out, knocking him away.
Hiro slammed against a fish drying shed. The building collapsed on him. The wood splintered and caused only mild abrasions to Hiro's back. Getting up, Hiro stared at the squid destroying his village and saw one of its appendages reach into his home. The squid grabbed the female from before and threw her into his mouth.
"Oba-san!" Charging up his sword once again, Hiro ran towards the squid. "Riaken!"
The Avatar of Ink was portrayed behind the squid, and it fired a jet stream of black liquid towards Hiro. Right as the water jet about hit Hiro, a voice sounded, "Blood Art: Frozen Heart" The tail end of the water froze in place.
Hiro looked over at his savior, and it was a tall white male with long blond hair.
"Boy, back up. The real show is about to begin."
An iron destroyer from the 21st century came into view off the coast. A barrage of missiles and bullets bombarded the squid. Even though the squid entered the Beast Avatar level, it was still no match for science. The surprise attack destroyed the squid and blasted it to pieces. A strange rock from inside it began to sink into the sea.
"Mister, who are you?" asked Hiro, upset and emotional. He was looking at a short brown-haired man with dark eyes with a hint of red. He wore some kind of dress uniform Hiro had never seen before.
"Boy, my name is Vladimir Reiner. I'm the commander of Renegades. We are actually here for you, Hiro Nakamura. We need you and your lightning sword. Our group consists of us knights and the Nightingale family. I'm glad I made it in time to save you."
"What about my family and people here? And Oba-san?" once Hiro said her name. It then clicked that everyone had just died. He couldn't even protect his family. What kind of swordman lets their own mother die. Complicated emotions flooded him, from anger to sadness. Slowly all of that was replaced with helplessness and the will to get stronger.
Barely standing up, Hiro asks Reiner, "Will I be able to become strong enough to slay monsters as strong as that squid?"
"Yes, that is our goal."
Hiro clenched his fist. The only thing he had left was anger and a willingness to get stronger. He knew he had to follow this man to attain it.

Up in the sky, Hermes and his sprites saw the whole scene play out.
After absorbing a chunk of Zeus that fell into the Pacific Ocean evolved. It attained its level of cultivation through eating other creatures and consuming energy from the sea.
Hermes being a God, knew that he could not save every human. Heroes will rise from the ashes through difficulties.
"The boy named Hiro is a promising warrior," remarked Hermes.
"His little knowledge of lighting energy allows him to wield it in his sword," noted a yellow sprite.
"He is a Middle Aura Fighter which shows his dedication. He also uses his sword to act as his dantian to store mana, supplementing the lack of a dantian gland. Very impressive for a human boy," explained the green sprite.
What surprised Hermes was not the battleship and humanity's so-called science. It was the man named Vladimir that was impressive. He is in Core Building Stage and looks like he's been cultivating since energy returned. That means Vladimir has to be over 200 years old.
Hermes wondered who on earth could train Humans to re-use energy again when it returned. His abilities were those aligned with water and death energy. It reminded him of an immortal that ascended before him called Vampir. Hermes wondered if they had something in common.
"Mr. Hermes, a little girl is looking at us." Hermes then took his attention to a little girl on the ship's bow.
"Is that little girl really looking at us?" As Hermes thought about it, he chuckled. There was no way a mortal child could see through his ability and see him in the sky.

"Hello, Mr. God." A little girl whispered.
"Lucy, come here," said a voice interrupting the little girl.
"Coming, papa." The little girl ran down the deck into the arms of an older gentleman. She had blonde hair with a ribbon tied to it. Her light pink dress made her stand out against the battleship's metal.
A sailor came up the gentleman. "Sir, we have reloaded all the cannons."
"Stand down, Lieutenant. Tell the crew to go on standby till we retrieve Vladimir and our new knight."
"Aye, aye, Commander Nightingale."
Looking down at the little girl, he smiles. "Lucy, head inside. Please."
"Yes, papa." As she walked toward the cabin, she looked back. There she saw the god-like being fly away.
