Chapter 4 - First Death

"But you dared touch me, Human?" Her eyes glowed in a deep crimson, and the warning from that inner voice grew louder, piercing through the cloud of anger clouding my mind.

It compelled me to release my grip and step back. Little did I know that this decision would ultimately save my life.

Without warning, I leaped back as a talon-like fingernail, sharp as an eagle's, grazed the side of my neck, the force from even a graze nearly hurling me into an incoming Hyouta.

I tumbled across the floor and eventually stopped, with my gaze still fixed on the superhuman assailant. In an instant, my anger had been extinguished, giving way to overwhelming bewilderment.

"What just happened? And who is she?" These questions echoed relentlessly in my head, their answers unable to be found.

Hyouta stood frozen on the walkway, mirroring my disbelief and confusion.

HYOUTA'S POV

"Anna…." I managed to utter after a few seconds.

"What's wrong, Hyouta? Surprised, are you? You didn't think anyone would dare confront the son of the son of the Boss, did you? Did you!? Did you!??" She let out a short psychotic laugh as she spoke.

With her ecstatic expression unchanging, she took a stance against me

"I did tell you earlier that you would regret it if you bothered me, So, as promised…" Almost immediately after her words trailed off, she vanished, only to reappear behind Anna and in front of me.

My eye couldn't even see how fast it happened, all I could see was blood suddenly spurting from Anna's abdomen, staining the ground.

She turned slowly, blood spilling from her lips, her gaze fixed upon us with a mixture of surprise and agony.

She didn't even get the chance to run or block, she didn't even understand what had just happened. Gradually, she crumpled face-first to the ground, succumbing to unconsciousness.

Her once pristine white shirt had been dyed red by the blood that continued to pour.

My eyes widen in disbelief. Not her, No. Not her.

"Anna!!!!!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, struggling to rise in futility despite my injuries.

I fall to my knees, my heart pounding, The only one I ever loved, my now lifeless friend lay before my eyes.

"There you go, 'Regret'," she declared, laughing with a horrifying voice.

As I gathered up my battered body, attempting to sprint towards Anna, An unforeseen hand seized my collar and flung me back the way I came effortlessly.

I crashed onto the ground once more, a spurt of blood spewing violently from my mouth, overwhelming me with intense nausea and anguish unlike any I had ever experienced before.

"Come on now, get up" Izora mocked, a smirk adorning her face. She derived pleasure from this brutal assault.

Amidst the pain, I mustered the strength to force out my voice, questioning,

"How could you do that to her!? Where is Rei? Who the hell are you!??" But she merely chuckled again with no intention to respond.

"Don't be impatient, little Hyouta" her calm voice resounded. "You'll have all the time in the world to discover that. You see, I really want you, I really really want you," she said enthusiastically, silently advancing towards me and callously tossing me over to Anna's body.

The impact caused fresh bruises to appear and the friction against the already grating ones, caused psychotic pain to surge through my body.

While I lay on my side clutching to Anna's palm in tears, a faint whisper reached my ears,

"I'm waiting, Hyouta, on the higher side" the gentle voice trailed off.

Almost immediately, a white-hot pain coursed throughout my chest and back. My eyes widened in surprise as the insides of my mouth began to fill up with blood till the point it leaked from my lips.

Directing my attention to my chest, a shimmering silver blade coated with streaks of blood met my gaze, as well as my once pristine shirt now being dyed red at a rapid pace.

The blade abruptly gouged out causing blood to recklessly spurt from my chest, the strength in my body now completely drained.

I watched my blood become a little puddle, with the tension in my muscles fading simultaneously.

My hearing dissipated and my muscles relaxed, my eyes lost all its colors.

I finally understood, I was dying.

The last thing I saw was the wicked smile on my assailant's face before my consciousness welcomed the darkness.
