Chapter 3 - Breakfast with the Tenebris's

Rays of light that had seeped through the windows all day began to recede being replaced by the darkness of night. Drake was still laying in bed thinking about some of things that Amelia had told earlier after she brought back food for him. For him this was one of his most mind boggling days he had ever lived. While, the past life Drake had ever lived.

Amelia had given Drake some basic information about the world and situation which he currently resided. The barony which he was 'born' in was given to John Tenebris for his outstanding capability on the battlefield. John Tenebris had racked up multiple achievements that even the upper-nobility could not ignore. The Tenebris barony was located at the very southern end of the Proxima Empire that bordered with the sea. To the south, west, and east was sea while in the northwest was a mountain range named Hunter Mountain Range. To the northeast, Byneim Forest, due to a ducal family that has owned the land there since the beginning of the six-hundred year Proxima Empire.

The Byneim family has close ties to the royal family that has ended with multiple marriages between male heirs of the throne and women of the Byneim ducal household. The Tenebris family is a retainer of the Byneim family because Duke Gray Byneim put in a good word and spread the deeds of John Tenebris for the emperor and other Dukes to hear. For this John Tenebris owes a debt for the Byneim family. It is not easy for a commoner to become a noble without the help of a renowned upper-nobility family.

Due to the fact that John Tenebris was recently made nobility the fertile land is still unexplored and resources are still unknown but currently John has been making rounds to mark important areas that could aide in development. John has only been a noble for more than two decades so the Tenebris family is new to the noble scene.

Another important piece of information is that Tina Tenebris is actually the second daughter of Gray Byneim. One of the achievements John Tenebris acquired was saving the Duke who was injured in the middle of the battlefield. Gray thought the best reward other then the barony was his own daughter. Luckily for him Tina basically fell in love with John after their first meeting making it a smooth marriage. Tina is technically in charge of most of what goes on in the house due to her high IQ and management skills while also being from upper-nobility which brings fame to the Tenebris household.

Amelia was Tina's personal maid whose was assigned to her from a young age. Children of a Duke get a personal maid at the age of 10 to help with whatever the child needs. The maid also has a choice of whether to follow their master whenever they are married or if they move to a new town within the dukedom.

With all this new information Drake has a good idea that he is no longer on Earth and is in fact on a different planet. Earth never had an empire named Proxima.

'Well I have to look at a map but I am almost sure 95% sure this isn't Earth.'

----------------------------------

Drake woke up the next morning feeling quite refreshed. After Amelia had come to check up on him and got a warm bath ready along with a towel and some basic linen she returned with an order from Tina.

"The mistress suggests that if you can walk, she would like you to come to breakfast in the dining hall."

Amelia once again had a non-expressive face and Drake was starting to wonder if she could show a different face other than that of a frown or current appearance but either way he responded humbly as to not offend this scary women.

"Sure, I feel fine."

Amelia opened and held the door as Drake walked out into the hall. The hall had multiple doors, which probably led to other guest rooms, along with the same theme color as green and white throughout. The family theme was green and white so at this point Drake was no longer surprised. Amelia led the way through the corridor and down a grand staircase. The main hall had a large chandelier with gold engravings that looked like a pyramid upside down. Down the staircase to the right was a lounge for guests with different types of sofas, chairs, and a glass circle table. All colored in green and white. To the left was a small ball room with a white marbled floor with gold engravings and the walls had green aesthetic patterns with another chandelier hanging on the ceiling.

When Drake got to the bottom of the staircase, Amelia took a U-turn and walked alongside the staircase where an arch that led into a dining hall was located. There at the table which could hold 12 people, sat 4 different people. Alongside the walls was maids and butlers attending to the Tenebris family breakfast. Amelia pulled out a chair near Tina Tenebris and gestured for Drake to sit. After Drake had taken his seat Tina called out to him.

"How are you this morning dear?"

"Better, thank you for your care." Drake tried to be as respectful as possible but he had no idea how to talk to a noble. Tina had a warm smile as she looked at Drake as if she was looking at her own child. She then introduced the other three people at the table.

"Fufu~ that's good to hear. Now that you are here let me introduce you to the Tenebris family. At the head of the table is my husband, Baron John Tenebris, to his right is our youngest son Bailey Tenebris, and to his right is our youngest daughter, Hailey Tenebris."

John was a large burly man with muscles that seemed they would rip out of his noble attire. He had green hair and emerald eyes. Drake instantly understood why the Tenebris loved green so much. He had a square face with a full brown beard which gave him a a domineering look and Drake concluded that he stood around 190 cm tall. Drake could tell that John lives up to his description Amelia gave him.

"Glad you're awake son. Tina was worried you'd never wake up." After John spoke about Tina he immediately got a glare making him shut his mouth and not continue.

Bailey had green hair and sapphire eyes with a square face though he was shaven giving him a clean look. He was not as large as his father standing around 185 cm. Bailey still had quite the muscle builder look to him, given a few more years he will resemble his father in that regard. He just gave Drake a simple nod which Drake replied in kind.

When Drake looked at Hailey he had to suppress his shock. Hailey was almost a replica of her mother, Tina. While her mother was the goddess, Hailey was like a fairy stuck in the mortal world. She had long blonde hair with ocean blue tips that fell to her waist and emerald eyes that seemed to be sparkling with curiosity. She was about Drake's age from he could tell. Not that he knew his age. She was small and had not grown yet in the breast department but if Drake could see her bottom he'd surely lick his lips because of how well shaped and perky it is. Drake could feel a headache coming on the minute she spoke her first words.

"Hi Drake! Im Hailey, I heard you lost your memories is that true!?"

'So is she that curious type I read about in some novels?'

Drake's lips slightly curved upwards not really offended by her question but made a note to be prepared in the future for further questions.

"Yea, I am afraid so. I only remember my name. I have no idea who I am or where I come from..."

'Except that of my life on Earth and the damn torture I went through...'

The table instantly became quiet as small frowns of worry appeared on everyone's faces. Even though they just met Drake, he could instantly tell the loving atmosphere between the family. Even with all this the only time Drake had an expression was after Hailey spoke. Other than that Drake remained poker face'd not showing what he was feeling. He began to think about his mental state and how broken it was after 5 years of torture and was wondering if he could even get along with these people. Even if he couldn't he would have to try because there was no other way to learn about this world.

'Either way, I need to get out of here as soon as possible. This atmosphere is to fluffy for my liking. Being alone is the best option.'

"Well now that introductions are out of the way, to get your mind off the predicament why don't we go train with swords after breakfast?"

John seemed to be a little excited about training. I took a look at Bailey's face and his eyes showed slight disgust. Drake wondered if he doesn't like swords.

"Ok."

'Definitely need to get out of here.'

Drake just decided to endure it for now. He figured since this is a different time and world with no science it's better to be able to protect himself somewhat. Though what Hailey said next almost made Drake fall out of his chair.

"Mother! Can we practice magic today!?"

"EH?"

Drake's eyes popped out of their eye sockets and his mouth hung agape to the point he could be touching the floor.

'DID SHE JUST MAGIC!? What the HELL!? Where am I!?!?! I haven't lost it so much that I'm hallucinating.'

Everyone at the table looked at me with slightly raised eyebrows as if Drake's reaction was out of place.

'Oi, don't look at me like! Y'all just magic! MAGIC! Thats not even possible!'

"Fufufufu~ Drake you didn't know magic existed?"

Tina got a good laugh as her eyes turned crescent and her smile that seemed more amused than it had ever been. Drake felt stifled on what to say. Well, Drake figured that since he had forgotten everything about himself that he was relatively safe. With this he could further their beliefs that he really didn't know anything.
