Chapter 33 - Reunion??

"So Doug, what were you going to offer in this deal?"

"We were going to offer you 50,000 dollars for 50% of the profits. We would have also given you a location and fighters every week."

It wasn't a bad deal. Sure, 50% of the profits was a lot, but being given a location that was private and fighters every week made up for it. Plus, $50,000 was a lot of money. At least for now.

"Turn the recorder on and tell me the deal again. We'll go from there." Doug did as told and he then told me the deal all over again.

"I would be open to your deal, but I need you to bring your actual boss. After all, I find this disrespectful. A deal is made between equals. You can't just send a lacky to complete such an important deal."

I was putting up a front.

Mrs. Yankovic was definitely above me in terms of power. But in terms of the deal, she and I held equal amounts of power. We were both the leaders of our 'organizations'. So I thought it made sense to say this.

"I'll talk to the big boss. Since it seems like we wont come to an agreement today, lets reschedule," Doug said, standing up. He then walked out of the building before turning off the recorder.

The doors opened again, Doug walked back in.

"She should come here next week. I'll make sure to persuade her."

"Thank you Doug. By the way, next time you come here with Yankovic, bring guns for me."

"What kind of guns? Pistols?"

"Hmm, try bring an assault rifle for me. Oh, also, bring some pistols. Doesn't matter how many, just bring as much as you can."

Why not use my connections to get better and more guns. Plus, they would be free.

"I'll do my best."

"Great. You can leave now. Leave two of the suited men with me, take the rest."

Doug did as I commanded, and left with the rest of his men. After leaving, I looked at numbers 4 and 5. They were to be my next fighters. Man Vs. Woman. I was looking forward to the fight.

Cat Vs. Dogs.

That was going to be the theme.

I had the numbers that would fight take off their masks and hand them to the men in suits. They were to replace them.

With the meeting over, I got up from my seat, and changed out of my costume.

Once I was done changing, I gathered my mini squad. " Alright guys. I look forward to working with all of you. The five of you can do whatever for the time being. Just don't leave the premises. I'll be back tomorrow."

I left the warehouse and my way back home. I finished the meeting way earlier than I had thought. So I decided to treat myself to a little dinner.

I got off the bus and walked to the nearest fast food restaurant near my house. Walking through the doors, the smell of grease and burgers hit my nose. Fast food, no matter how bad it was for the body, tasted the best.

After ordering and receiving my food, I walked around the corner to find a seat.

Imagine my surprise when I saw someone I had never expected to come across. It was someone I had used to love. Someone who I had even thought of proposing to.

Anabelle.

---Previous Life----

"Damian. We'll be together for all our life. We'll prank our families together, have kids and eventually die together. I love you!"

'You said that. Why would you ever do this? Why would you leave me this quick?'

As I was standing in front of her coffin with her family and friends surrounding me, I had started thinking about all the times we shared. Our first date, first kiss, our pranks.

"Why did you have to kill yourself?" I muttered under my breath as the rain drops slid down my face.

----------

Annabelle. Someone who could be called my first love. She was sitting at one of the tables, laptop in front of her and headphones over her head.

We dated from when I was 18-21.

She ended up killing herself for a reason I honestly couldn't remember any more. I had pushed everything about her to the back of my head after she died.

After all, those were one of the darkest times in my life.

I looked down at her as I passed by and swore time slowed down. A part of me wanted to just sit beside her and speak to her. The other part wanted me to leave her alone.

I decided to listen to the latter.

With the things I'm doing now, she would only get put in danger. Plus, this was a new life. I had long lost feelings for her.

With that said, I walked passed her and was about to sit down when I heard a voice behind me.

"Excuse me. You dropped something."

I turned around to see her holding a wallet I dropped. My heart stopped. Her long black hair, and green eyes brought back many memories I had dug deep down.

"T-thank you."

I reached out and as my pinky touched her hand accidently, my body shook slightly.

"No problem."

She quickly sat back down and returned to what she was doing.

I gave a quick glance before walked back to the table some ways from her. I sat down and immediately lost appetite. Memories were flooding my thoughts like a violent river passing through a rock.

As the memories came back, I fought back the tears.

I quickly stood up and ran to the washroom. Luckily, no one was there. I locked the door behind me and let out a few of my held back tears.

I never thought I'd see her again. It had been years since I saw that face, although a lot more immature now, I could still see the striking resemblance.

With a small smile, I thought aloud. "And I said I lost feelings."

I looked into the mirror and activated my hypnosis. Making eye contact, I started to hypnotize myself.

"Forget about Annabelle."

With one command, I immediately stopped crying.

--

Wiping my eyes, I wondered why I was crying in a restaurants washroom.

'What happened?'

I felt like something was missing. No matter how hard I thought, I couldn't figure out the reason.

I walked out after washing my face and sat back at my seat. I unwrapped my burger and started feasting like no tomorrow.

Nothing like celebrating with a burger.

At the corner of my eye I saw a girl giving me the side eye. What? Never seen a guy devour a burger to celebrate a successful deal?
