On the other side of the city, Roman is at his private tower and is currently preparing to hold a gathering with newly recruited mercenaries and grunts hired to take over the city and kill Michael.
Roman Galloway: Let me be the first to say, welcome aboard. Your service is much needed. Secondly, here, we do things the correct way. No going rogue or vigilante. I expect your full cooperation and to do as you are requested. Right now, we have bit of a problem with a man named Michael Monroe, he has been a big thorn in my ass for quite some time and I need him eliminated as soon as possible. Robert has all the intel on him so he will provide you with everything there is to know. You are dismissed.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Brooke arrives for her shift when she finds Michael at the front entrance, waiting for her.
Brooke Cade: Michael? What's wrong?
Michael Monroe: I know you have to start your shift, but I just wanted to come by and see you.
Brooke sets her bag down and can tell that something is bothering him. She touches his face and has him look at her.
Brooke Cade: What's bothering you?
Michael grips her hand, feeling her soothing touch against his face and can't bring himself to tell her what he really is.
Michael Monroe: It's just been a rough evening and I needed to see your face.
They both lean in close to each other and kiss for the first time. They stand there, pressing each other's foreheads against one another when Brooke giggles.
Michael Monroe: What's so funny?
Brooke Cade: Didn't think we would have our first kiss at my workplace.
Michael Monroe: I'm not the romantic type, but, well, I needed it.
Michael tucks her hair behind her ear and just looks into her beautiful, blue eyes. They are both caught in each other's gaze when Brooke's phone rings with her supervisor calling.
Brooke Cade: Damn it. I got to go. I'll call you on my break.
They kiss again and Brooke goes inside for her shift as Michael goes to his car. Over the next few days, things seem to go by without any incidents while Michael and Brooke become closer and closer to each other. They go on another date despite the fact Michael is on edge, but nothing happens, and it goes better than he thought. However, Michael knows that something is building up and that at any given time Roman will strike the city with an iron fist. In the meantime, he continues to see and spend more time with Brooke, and they grow closer with each passing day. On a night that seems to be another peaceful night, Michael and Brooke return to her apartment, but they remain in the car for a moment when Michael opens up and reveals his true feelings towards Brooke. He starts to ask her to officially be his girlfriend, but before he can get the question out, she already accepts. The two walk up to her apartment and before she goes inside, they kiss again. Brooke opens the door and pulls him inside by his shirt, shuts the door and locks it. They start to undress while kissing as Michael lifts her up off the ground in his arms and carries her into the bedroom and onto the bed. Brooke removes her shirt and then helps Michael get his off as she pulls him back in to keep kissing him. Sitting on top of him, she removes her bra and kisses him again. They both end up having sex that night and end up falling asleep in each other's arms.
Michael awakens later into the night to use the bathroom and then go into the kitchen, but when he tries to turn the light on, he finds the power is out. Looking outside, he sees it to still be storming outside and figures it was the storm that knocked it out. He turns back to find Brooke awake, startling him.
Michael Monroe: Damn it.
Brooke Cade: The power is out. I went to use the bathroom, but the light wouldn't cut on.
Michael Monroe: I think the storm knocked it out.
Michael looks out the window and begins to get that same feeling he got the night Trevor was murdered.
Michael Monroe: Something doesn't feel right.
Brooke Cade: What do you mean? The storm?
Brooke walks over to him and leans against him as Michael puts his arm around her.
Michael Monroe: No. Something else.
Brooke leans up on her toes and kisses him. Still wrestling with the way, he will reveal to her of who he really is, that thought is interrupted as a soft rumbling sound is heard and when they look out the window again, they begin to see multiple fireballs appearing in the darkened city!
Brooke Cade: What the hell is that?
Loud voices are heard outside from the neighbors gathering to see what is happening as more fireballs appear in and around the city as Michael's phone begins to ring with Roy calling.
Michael Monroe: Roy.
Roy Wheeler: It's him. It's Roman. He has some army attacking the city. It's no coincidence of why nothing has happened in the last few days. He was preparing for this, and he executed it.
Michael Monroe: I'm on my way now. Prepare everything and suit up. We take him down tonight.
Michael rushes back into the apartment to find Brooke standing by the window as Michael runs into the bedroom to get dressed.
Michael Monroe: Listen, I have to meet up with Clint and Roy. Something has happened at the airfield they need help with.
Michael yanks the door open and leaves the apartment, but Brooke, confused by this sudden change of plans, walks with him into the pouring rain.
Brooke Cade: Michael, wait. Can this wait? I mean, the power is out, it's pouring rain and the city is blowing up. What's so important that needs to be fixed now?
Michael Monroe: It's complicated, Brooke. I just need to go.
Michael still holds back when she grabs his arm and steps in front of him.
Brooke Cade: What are you hiding from me, Michael? We have been seeing each other for three weeks, we were made official tonight and I can already tell you are hiding something. I've seen it before. Don't you bring back those awful memories!
Brooke, having to talk a bit loud over the rain, begins to become emotional while Michael hesitates a moment, as he looks into the sky as the rain continues to fall on them.
Michael Monroe: That night at the hospital when those men shot it up and murdered your colleagues, it was because Roman Galloway sent them to kill me.
Brooke Cade: Why? Why is he trying to kill you?
Michael Monroe: Because I've been trying to kill him for Trevor. To avenge him. All those reports you have seen on the news, all those articles and debates over this vigilante appearing, this Outlaw; it's me they are talking about. I am the vigilante called The Outlaw.
Brooke becomes startled by this revelation and Michael can see it in her eyes and her face.
Michael Monroe: The airfield is a command center we use to track his every movement along with his contacts and other various reasons. I'm sorry I kept this from you, but I couldn't put you in harm's way. I couldn't.
Brooke stands there in silence, not knowing what to think or say.
Michael Monroe: Please, say something. Anything.
Brooke Cade: So, everything you ever told me was a lie? Even the way you feel about me.
Michael Monroe: No, God no, this is as real as it gets.
But Brooke slaps him across the face.
Brooke Cade: I truly thought you were different. But how fucking wrong I was.
Brooke begins to walk away as Michael goes after her.
Michael Monroe: Brooke? Brooke, wait!
Brooke Cade: Fuck you!
Brooke slaps at him and tries to break free from him as he grips her arms, but not tight enough to hurt her.
Michael Monroe: Listen to me! Everything I said about you, how I feel, it was all true. I couldn't tell you because I wanted to protect you. Roman is a very dangerous man and will use whatever leverage possible against me to try and break me. You have made me the happiest I have been since Trevor died and I don't want that feeling to go away again. I'm sorry for not telling you the truth and I'm sorry for hurting you.
Brooke breaks down crying as she leans into him and wraps her arms around him as he does the same to hold her. They press their foreheads together as the rain falls around them and thunder rumbles.
Brooke Cade: Go do what needs to be done and you better come back to me. I swear to God if you don't, I will kick your ass myself and you know I can.
Michael chuckles and before he departs, they share a long, goodbye kiss.
