Treasya had come and used earth magic to burry the ashes of Nargash and Keagor. Bellirick explained that the pair could always resurrect from death as long as their ashes were struck by sunlight. Now that they were buried deep into the earth, they could never see the light of day again.
After another hour or so, the human soldiers had been decimated and all the dragons had been either killed or freed while the drakes had been completely exterminated.
"You think we will be able to defeat Mourtas when the time comes?" Gänhir asked Dagon when they and their dragons were perched upon the Southern wall.
"Honestly…" Dagon said, "I'm not really sure. I know now how strong Sephtis and I are.. we are stranger than I had realized, but Mourtas and Zickarys, we didn't even see the full extent of their power and they completely and utterly defeated us."
"Well, don't worry, kid. I can help you with them, and my magic will actually work against Mourtas, as well as the other wench." Gänhir spoke.
"The other… wench?"
"Yes. The other of the Four Dragons of yhe Kingdoms. Her name is Myru, and her dragon's name is Abyss. They use water and thunder magic."
"Two elements?" Edric asked, confused, "they aren't even two elements of similar nature. How is that possible?"
"That's why that pair is so unique, and powerful. Them alone will be a challenge, not to mention the armies of both kingdoms and Mourtas and Zickarys. This coming battle… it won't be easy."
"I know that. And I'm prepared for it." Dagon looked down at his hand. "I've killed many now.. their blood is on my hands. But I know that it is needed. This world will not get better if I do not have the will to take life. With the end of lives comes the birth of many more in a better world."
"Exactly. I see you've found your resolve." Gänhir nodded. "Your father would be proud of you. Now then, it will take two days for the armies of Annagon and Meagaus to reach our border. In that time, I have something for you to do."
"What?"
"One of our scouts have located the Temple of Hurricanes." Gänhir said. "It is where the Dragon Queen Goddess lies in wait. She slumbers, awaiting your arrival. When you find her, you will have to pass her trial and then she will give you her scale and power. You will become much stronger once you've received her blessing, and then we will have our best chance of defeating Mourtas."
Dagon reached into a pouch attached to his belt, pulling out the scale Phenor had given him. The scale still gave off an immense amount of energy that he could feel flow into his body.
"Is that the Scale of Phenor?" Gänhir asked.
"Yes. When I was there, I had met a True Blood Dragon Kin. He asked me a bunch of questions, all of them contradicting each other. He was testing me. Apparently he was bonded with Phenor."
"Strange. I've never heard of anyone bonded with any of the other Dragon Gods, I only ever knew of your father… and one other." Gänhir grinned slightly.
"One other?"
"Stop playing games with the boy, Gänhir." Shiratt growled.
"What are you hiding?" Sephtis hissed, turning towards Gänhir.
"Well.. it has been many years since last I saw her, but just as your father was bound to Elderren, I was bound to Liorria, the Goddess Queen." Gänhir chuckled. "Although, I haven't thought of her in a long time. The last I saw her was when she left to hide away in her temple. She never told me where it was. If I'm being honest, I wish t go with you to meet her once more.. but I know it is not allowed."
"Wait, you are bound with the Queen?"
"Yes. I still have her power coursing throughout my body, though, it is not as great as it once was. Only your father and a few other Dragon Kin knew of this. It was a well guarded secret."
"Why won't you be able to come with me into the temple? I'm sure she would be glad to see you."
"No. Only the destined one is permitted within the temples, anyone else will die. That is just how it was meant to be. But, I do ask that you give her my word. I have missed her dearly." Gänhir spoke. "The bond between dragon and kin runs deep, and with Dragon Gods it is much deeper."
"We don't need her. She is old and weak now, we are better on our own." Shiratt growled.
Gänhir chuckled. "Don't be jealous, my friend. My bond with you is completely separate from her, don't worry."
"So.. then I am to go to the temple alone." Dagon said.
"Yes. Return within the day. You should leave tomorrow morning. Make haste though, as we only have an estimation of how long it will take for the armies to arrive. For all we know, they could be here by tomorrow. So do not waste any time."
"I understand." Dagon squeezed the scale in his hand.
He was going to meet the Dragon Goddess. And he would be one step closer to becoming the Dragon King, and freeing the shackled world.
