Dagon held tightly to Sephtis's spine. He did the best he could to act strong and confident, but he was trembling. He could feel the power of the black dragon and Mourtas, and he was scared. He wasn't sure he'd be able to defeat them, actually, he was fairly certain he couldn't. But he didn't have much a choice. They could not outfly him, meaning they couldn't just run. They were backed into a corner.
"Come on then!" Mourtas hollered. "For such big talk, you'd think you would at least have the confidence to make the first move."
Dagon felt shivers run through his body. He wanted to run… but he knew there was no point.
*Dagon, focus. You are not alone here, I am at your side." Sephtis growled.
*Yeah.. sorry.* Dagon said in return. *You remember the spray attack you used before?*
*Yes. Why?*
*Use it again, I have an idea.*
Sephtis reared back his head and Dagon placed his hand upon the back of the dragon's neck. As the click came and the acid began to spray, Dagon focused his magical energy into it. The acid suddenly became much hotter and brighter, giving off a green glow as it burst forth in a beam of steaming acid that shot clear through the clouds, cutting through them to reveal the blue sky beyond the black.
Zickarys dove to the side, dodging away from the beam of acid as he gradually moved closer to Sephtis. As the beam crashed over the earth, a deep gash was formed into it, the acid instantaneously melting away anything it came into contact with.
As Zickarys drew closer, Dagon threw forward his hand and spikes of mercury exploded forward, an attempt to protect Sephtis and himself. But Zickarys did not seem to care, as he just impaled himself upon them as his talons crashed into Sephtis's lower jaw, closing his mouth and causing the acid stream to be halted. The green glow grew brighter and brighter writhing Sephtis's jaws until his entire body jarred as it exploded within his mouth, sending him stumbling back in a daze.
Dagon swung his sword through the air as Sephtis tried to recover. He had to provide cover for his dragon, and so he sent forth another wave of Mercury that cut through the earth and split a floating island off in the distance, but, despite his size, Zickarys was too fast to hit.
The deep wounds in Zickarys's body began to heal over as he rose back into the air above Dagon and Sephtis.
"You may be stronger, dear nephew, but you are still nowhere near my level. You should just accept that as a fact." Mourtas called.
"And Sephtis.. for the things you've done, I would have expected you to be stronger. I am disappointed really." Zickarys hissed.
Suddenly the scales upon Sephtis began to melt the mercury, causing it to build and stem as his scales shifted to point upwards like spikes. A green glow emitted from them and smoke coiled up from his body. Sephtis opened his jaws with a hiss as acid streamed out from his mouth and his eyes gave off an intense glow.
*Sephtis..?* Dagon asked, both concerned and confused. But the dragon gave no response. *Sephtis, answer me!*
*I am fine, now shut your mouth!* the dragon roared. *Give me any of the magic you have..*
*What-?*
*JUST DO IT!!!*
Dagon decided it was better to work with and not against his dragon, and so he reversed the Shift, all his magical energy going into Sephtis. As he did this, the intensity of his glow became stronger as the ground began to melt at his feet to molten rock and the heat waves distorted their appearance.
Then there was a flash of silver light as Bella and Ellira shot towards Zickarys and Mourtas. As lightning burst from her dragon's scales, Ellira and Bella crashed into Zickarys, who's talons swung about and clutched her by the throat, slamming her out of the air. Ellira spun head over tail and crashed down to the earth below.
"I am not impressed." Zickarys growled. And then Mourtas looked over at Sephtis.
"Wait.." his eyes widened and Zickarys backed away from Sephtis and a barrier of black smog protected them.
Then Sephtis let out a tremendous roar that sent cracks splitting through the earth before he shot forward. Dagon had to hold as tight as possible, using mercury to hold himself to Sephtis as his dragon crashed into the wall of shadows. There was only a slight resistance before it gave way and Sephtis slammed into Zickarys, the dragons clutching at one another in the air before, to Dagon's surprise, Sephtis got the upper ground and clutched at Zickarys's horns, pulling them up wards while kicking down with his hind legs and blasting a ray of acid into the black dragon.
*SNAP*
The sound came as one of Zickarys's horns shattered free and the black dragon as well as its rider tumbled down to the earth, crashing below Sephtis's feet. The earth shuddered from the impact and Sephtis held them pinned there to the ground.
Suddenly the earth began to vibrate violently as Sephtis's scales shifted more and more to become more pointed like spikes and the heat and glow from his body got even more intense. The earth around him became molten and Zickarys's scales began to melt, though, not completely. They just had a liquid-like sheen on their surface, like ice just beginning to melt. But Mourtas on the other hand had burns running across his entire body and his black armor had melted almost completely, molten metal spreading over him.
Sephtis reared back his head and opened his jaws, a hiss ringing from his throat as he gave off more heat and gathered energy.
*Brace yourself.* Sephtis growled, *This is the most powerful Draco Magic I know.*
Dagon wanted to ask what Draco Magic was, but he decided it was better to completely layer himself in mercury, pinning him to his dragon. And it is a good thing he did, because a moment later, Sephtis gave a roar and a massive explosion burst forward from him, completely decimating anything it came in contact with, consuming the earth and floating islands within it's brimming green light. The earth trembled as though it were struck by a meteor.
Dagon could see nothing, hear nothing, and all he could see in that moment was absolute and utter destruction. And then he came to realize.. he had the power to bring about an era of peace, true… but.. if he was not careful, he could also bring about the end of everything.
