Chapter 24 - A Brilliant Storm (1)

Nargash grit his teeth in rage. His skin was coated in ash and rubble, but otherwise he was fine. Smoke rose from his and his dragon's body, but there were no burns, as he was immune to any kind of heat magic. His affinity was fire, so lightning did nothing more than having a jarring impact like a heavy blow.

*Get the hell up, dragon.* He growled. *I will not allow this dragon's impudence. They must not go unpunished.*

Then Nargash's eyes caught a flicker in the distant sky. Hold scales.. and another figure behind it.

His eyes widened and a wild look contorted his face.

"Ha.." he began to chuckle madly. "There she is.. Gena.. there she is.. that damn serpent.. I'll kill her… GET UP, KEAGOR!!!"

*What was that?* Dagon asked Sephtis a minute after the bolts of lighting had exploded through the air.

*A dragon.* Sephtis growled in return. *There is a fight. Stay alert.*

Gena suddenly paused in the air, her head twisting about as she observed their surroundings.

"Gena? Are we in danger?" Sephtis called out.

"Yes. I.. I know this aura. We need to leave. Now!" Gena began to shoot off in the direction of Mt Fang, a huge silhouette in the darkness of the storm.

Then the sky turned scarlet.

Massive flames engulfed the air, swirling and churning violently around the dark figure of a dragon. The flames themselves had their own form, the form of a massive dragon with wings that extended on for at least thirty feet.

The sound of hissing flames came then as countless vipers of fire shot out, lashing towards Gena. He scales suddenly became hard, gold flames bursting from beneath them. It reminded Dagon of how embers would glow from beneath rocks, but in this case, the gold was the embers and the rocks were her scales.

The attacker bolted forward, exploding through the flames and slamming into Gena, tackling her. They began to spiral downwards towards the earth before crashing into the side of the mountain and rolling down it.

*We need to help her!* Dagon called out.

*We can't right now, we will run the risk of hurting her. They are too entangled for us to do anything right now.* Sephtis growled.

*Damnit! Just go down there and get up close!*

*But what about-*

*Dont worry about me! We will have to fight like this at some point!*

*Fine.* Sephtis growled, tucking his wings. *Hold tight.*

Sephtis began barreling downwards towards the entangled dragons. He came crashing down atop the red dragon, his hooked talons crashing into it's head before wrenching it away from Gena and slamming it to the earth.

Sephtis Shifted to Dagon, and a massive spike of mercury exploded from the earth, skewering the dragon.

Sephtis backed away beside Gena, who had deep gashes across her body.

Dagon squinted his eyes. He could make out the faint outline of a figure atop the crimson dragon.

"Who the hell is that?" Dagon asked.

"Who?"

"There is a rider on it…"

Sephtis froze. "Keagor…" he growled.

"Dagon…" Gena spoke, catching her breath. "Be careful. It is one of the four dragons that killed your father."

Dagon's eyes shot wide. "What…?" He suddenly felt dizzy, like his world had been turned on its head.

"So, that's who you are. That explains why Mourtas is so interested in you…" came a voice. "So you are Ayden's little brat."

The dragon, Keagor, rose from the ground, ripping the spike from its own body. The wound began to glow in embers and it healed over completely, smoke curling up from its body.

The man atop the dragon was pale with orange eyes and a large red horn. He had long black hair pulled back into a ponytail while a thick beard was on his chin. He carried what appeared to be some sort of sword and on his right arm was a metal guard with a red Drakeagen stone embedded in the golden metal.

Keagor had two long, coiled horns and spikes pointing up from his brow. His eyes were gold and his crimson scales were each rimmed by golden spikes. Black spikes ran down his spike and his wings were larger than his own body, tattered and ripped. His talons were long and hooked and spikes grew from his shoulders and hips, as well as his elbows and knees. At the end of his tail was a large spike. His snout was short but thick and he had a large overbite, sharp teeth jutting up from his lower jaw as smoke coiled up from his nostrils.

"Listen, kid. You see that dragon there?" The rider pointed at Gena. "She is the reason my family is dead. She is the reason I joined the Four Kingdoms. And she is the reason I am here. If you leave now, turn away and don't look back, I will let you live. Sound fair?"

*His name is Nargash. He is a madman, he has extreme anger issues and has a hateful, rage filled heart. He also tends to abuse his dragon, so do not listen to a single word from his mouth.* Sephtis growled.

Dagon thought about what the man, Nargash said. To leave Gena behind, not to look back. He couldn't help but be reminded of when they had to leave his father to die…

Rage contorted across Dagon's face.

*Sephtis, I need a large Shift.*

*what? What are you planning? Dagon, he is an extremely powerful foe. We do not have the strength to defeat him!*

*Defeating him isn't the goal, the goal is to make him understand.. I will not stand down.*

*in other words you are being an idiot.*

*Just Shift to me already!*

*Fine!*

"Your name is Nargash, right?" Dagon asked as magical energy flowed into his body.

"So you know of me? The you'll know you don't stand a chance against me.. right?" Nargash spoke, his dragon rising up on all fours. It towered of Sephtis, glaring down at him.

"I don't care how strong you are." Dagon said. "I am the Dragon King, and I will not let anyone stand in my way."

Nargash's face became wrathful. "Fine then. I had respect for your father once upon a time. But now, I don't give a damn. Keagor, end them all."

Keagor rose up on his hind legs, his scales brimming and becoming sleek, as thought they were melting. Flames began to swirl in a vortex around Keagor and the ground began to turn to molten rock. Heat waves shifted through the air as embers drifted across the sky in the violently churning storm above them.

And then the ground began to crack open.
