Long ago, when the four regions were being formed, the Serrakon region had decided to take the North end of the continent of Seryad. This region included the North Coast, which was a bountiful trading and fishing port, and it is where most trades between the Seryad and Azeala continents take place. The Serrakon kingdom also wanted all of the Skyward forest to themselves, but, the forest had many precious and valuable materials.
The Skyward forest was a place that exuded magical energy of the wind and nature aspects. It was an overgrown land of strange and unique trees and plants of countless types. It was also the only place in the world in which floating islands and masses of rock and land existed, due to the immense amount of wind magic that resided there, distorting gravity itself.
The biggest reason that the Skyward Forest was desired by the kingdoms was due to the overwhelming amount of wind, water, earth and nature Drakkeagen deposits it held within the floating masses of land as well as beneath the trees' roots.
Thus, as one could assume, all of the Skyward forest was not limited to just the Serrakon region, as the Laisia region took a portion of it for themselves, though, since the Four Kingdoms came to the agreement of having equal land, and since Serrakon had most of the Skyward forest, Lasia was granted with a small portion of the forest as well as a larger amount of land than Serrakon. Serrakon, thus, had the smallest region, but it was the most bountiful, it also took a small stretch of the forest that lies between the Annura region and the Lasia region. This strip of land held, at its end, the Temple of Wind, wherein the Dragon God of Storms resided.
When the Dragon Gods, after forging the Four Kingdoms, saw the corruption and greed of man, they knew a war was coming. So, in turn, they retreated into their temples, one within each region. There, they awaited the day the Dragon King would seek them out and bring about a new era.
One could call the Dragon Gods cowardly for abandoning the land that they created, but in all reality, even if they bore down on the humans in rage, that would only make the humans fear and resent the dragons, making matters worse. If the Dragon God's only intervened without killing or violence, the humans would just laugh and call them weak. No matter what action they took, the humans would not come to peaceful terms, their greed blinded them too much. Thus, they had. No choice but to leave their world to its own devices, and hope that it would end well, and when the time was right, they'd return.
Thus the creation of the Chaos Egg. The God King of Dragons, Elderren, once had power over all nine elements, earth, fire, lightning, wind, water, nature, light, dark, and Magia.
Every time Elderren gave birth to a new Dragon God, he gave up two of his elements, reducing his power. The first born was Manira, Dragon Goddess of water and lightning. The second born was Phenor, the Dragon God of wind and earth, and then there is the Egg of Chaos, which took both light and dark. The third born was Gracia, Dragon Goddess of fire and nature. The fourth Dragon God is the Queen Goddess of dragons, who has four elements, earth, nature, water and fire.
After the creation of the three dragons and the egg, the Dragon God King lost all his power, other than the element of Magius. The Dragon Goddess Queen is considered one of the Four Dragon Gods, but she is on another level compared to them, though, not many know of her existence.
The purpose of the Elderren creating all the gods and the egg as because he was dying. If the land was to return to an era of peace, he had to pass the throne and his power down to a new Dragon God King, thus the egg. The point of collecting all the scales, is because each scale holds the different elements, and when all the scales are put into the egg, it gains the power of the Dragon God King. But, the only way to hatch the egg is to use Magius element on it, but there are no Drakeagen stones that contain this element, thus the Dragon King must receive Elderren's blessing in order to hatch it.
This is the truth of the Dragon Gods and the Egg of Chaos.

A dragon lay, coiled about tall pillars floating in the air in the middle of an expansive chasm, the walls etched with unique patterns, writing and depictions of history. Waterfalls drifted down to the bottom of the chasm where lay a deep pool of water. Ivy and vines clung to the wall and delicate, divine trees grew out from the walls.
The dragon had a long serpentine body, it's scales pale green with gold and silver tints. It's horns were that of curling antlers and it's eyes were a brilliant gold. Ivy and moss clung to its body and, as it moved for the first time in many years, dust cracked away from its body, falling to the water below.
"So.." the dragon spoke, it's long graceful snout shifting. "The Dragon King approaches."
