I struggled to find the strength to lift myself out of bed and find the energy to walk over to my fridge in my oversized Pyjamas. I even struggled from the few seconds of suspense as I opened the fridge- but alas, this wasn't my morning, the fridge was completely cleaned out, not even my can of sardines I was supposed to save for today were on the shelf.
I sighed and combed back my messy brown hair with my hands. I guess I must've gotten ahead of myself and ate them all last night. Wait no, I had the can of sardines yesterday for breakfast, so what was for dinner?
I let out a small gasp of excitement, just audible over the loud chirping and laughing of the birds outside.
I had eaten a can of peaches yesterday for dinner, and I fell asleep before I finished them! I ran over to my bedside and saw my can of peaches laying on their side next to the bed leg. I picked it up from the puddle of juice that it was sitting in.
"There you are my darling" I said in pure happiness and began shovelling the peaches into my mouth, moaning and groaning to myself in delight.
In seconds I had finished the can and was sighing to myself in satisfaction. A fresh can of peaches to start the day, what more could I wish for? I looked down at my timber brown floor, a puddle of clear liquid sitting next to my bed leg where the can had lay, tipped over.
"I better fix you up." My main concern with the puddle of peach juice on my floor, was the fact that flies always seemed to spawn wherever there was food, as if they'd been hiding in the walls, waiting for the right moment to steal my food.
"At least they didn't take it straight from the can." I mumbled grumpily under my breath as I opened my cupboard and grabbed my bottle of cleaning spray. It felt light. I held it up next to my ear and shook it. No sound. Man, it was empty! That's all I needed, another expense.
