Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Lightning frequently lights up the sky and the thunderstorms that follow roar so loudly that they scare some girls. Since it's eleven o'clock, Brooklyn, Chelsea, Daphne and Noemi decide to go to their respective rooms with the idea of going to bed. On the other hand, the others resume the dance in the living room to avoid worrying more. The sea is so rough that everything suggests that the yacht could capsize at any moment. Living in a coastal region, Kelly knows that this kind of weather does not bode well. This pushes her to join Jessica in the cockpit to find out what the problem is.

- "What is happening my God? asks Jessica, more and more worried. "I would have been informed if something serious happened. However, I have not received any message so far! If this bad weather continues, we will eventually find ourselves upside down. I'm seriously starting to worry..."

- Sorry to bother you Jessica, launches Kelly trying to hold on to what she has at hand so as not to fall. Do you know what's going on?

- I can't answer you, Kelly. The owner of the yacht had assured me that the weather would have been impeccable, replies Jessica. The worst is that nobody took care to inform me of a change of weather!

- Have you tried to contact the Coast Guard? I don't really want to alarm you but, as you know, I live near the sea. In general, when the sea is like this, it's because a storm is approaching.

- I tried to reach them but, as you can imagine, I can't get them. I have the impression that the connection is completely cut.

- What do we do in this case?

- To tell you the truth, I have no idea. I have never faced such a situation. So, I don't know if it would be safer to stay there or go back to Heartland.

- I don't want to influence your choice but, personally, I would have returned to Heartland. We would be safer there, Kelly advises him.

- I think you're right.

Unconvinced of what she should do, Jessica prefers to follow the advice of a person who lives near the coast. Given that a storm is approaching, she prefers to return, even if it means sailing on sight if necessary. Meanwhile, as the young ladies are dispersed, Amber pulls Anne-Sophie by the arm and takes her to the kitchen, an isolated room, before locking the lock behind her.

- Why are you taking me here? Anne-Sophie is surprised, surprised by the way she arrived in this room.

- I have to talk to you... begins her friend, embarrassed.

- Why here? We could have talked in the living room, you know?

- Excuse me for the way I brought you here, but I have to talk to you. I have something rather personal to tell you.

Amber turns all red.

- What's happening to you? It's the first time I've seen you like this…

- I don't really know how to go about it actually… "This is the perfect opportunity to tell you that I'm in love with you. I hope you're not going to walk away from me right after. » I…

Before Amber had time to launch, a violent jolt is felt, throwing Amber violently on the ground. Taking fright, the two young ladies quickly return to the first with the hope of having an explanation for what has just happened. A few moments later, the two friends are joined by other young ladies. Jessica is sailing on sight and she does not realize that the yacht has deviated enormously from its trajectory, violently hitting the breakers on the way. Given the violence of the tremor, Jessica understands that they are in danger. Suddenly, she cuts the engine before joining the girls on the first floor with Kelly. Meanwhile, Chelsea, who is still in her room, wakes up with a pain in her head after hitting her during the shock. To make matters worse, she is horrified as she puts her feet on the ground; she realizes that there are about fifty centimeters of water in her room. Not understanding what is happening, she goes to join the others in the living room. En route, she notices several cracks in the wood of the yacht, letting in a lot of water, and she also notices that the windows are cracked while there are large rocks a few inches from the boat. Besides, the water level reached her calf before she even reached the stairs. As the young lady arrives at the top, another big jolt is felt when Chelsea hears the windows starting to break.

- We have a huge problem, Jessica. The wood on the floor below has been perforated and a lot of water is getting in. To make matters worse, the windows will soon be shattered. We are close to large rocks and this explains the tremors. You have to leave the yacht.

- We're in the middle of nowhere Chelsea, Jessica replies immediately. Where do you want us to go?

- We have to jump, continues Daphne.

- Daphne is right, adds Gabriella. The best thing to do would be to jump. With any luck, we'll survive.

- I want to go home! Brooklyn suddenly launches, eyes filled with tears, understanding the gravity of the situation.

- How do you want to go home when we are going to sink? Amber asks him maliciously. Go swimming if you want!

- Calm down, Amber! Brittany immediately stops him, exasperated. Is it so complicated for you to understand that she's scared? Now is not the time to be mean to anyone!

- She's afraid of everything! I'm even sure she's afraid of her own shadow! Amber replies, which makes Anne-Sophie laugh.

- Don't worry Brooklyn, Brittany reassures her, hugging her, disgusted by the attitude of the two young ladies. You will see that everything will be fine and that we will be home very soon. "How can you be so mean at a time like this?" They are both so pathetic.

- Don't give him false hope Brittany. Given the way things are going, I doubt very much that we will manage to return to Heartland alive, launches Chelsea, pulling her out of her thoughts. I've seen the damage and it doesn't bode well.

- Aren't we supposed to have life jackets for this kind of situation? Kelly suddenly asks.

- Yes, but they are in a safe in the hallway of the bedrooms, answers Jessica.

- In that case, we're in deep shit.

- Even if this compartment is full of water, we could try to fetch them by swimming! Kelly bounces. It's the only thing that could guarantee us a chance of survival.

- Kelly is right, relaunch Brittany. You know what? Everyone stays here. I'll try to take the vests and I'll come back.

- That's a bad idea, Brittany, Jessica takes her back immediately. If this corridor is completely flooded, you will never have time to go down, take the vests and go back up. Not to mention that you will need a key to open this chest! However, the key is in a bunch containing several other small keys. By the time you figure out which one it is, we'll have already sunk...

- You're right, she agrees, distraught. At least we will have tried something.

Even before Brittany has begun her descent, a large wave once again propels the yacht against the breakers, producing another big jolt. While they cling to what they have on hand so as not to fall, the young ladies hear the windows breaking. Knowing where the sound is coming from, they are all increasingly worried.

- Great! We're going to die drowning; Amber continues wryly as she feels the yacht begin to tilt.

- We don't have a choice anymore, launches Kelly trying to keep her composure. We must jump before the yacht takes us with it under water.

- Are you crazy? Brooklyn replica. How can you imagine leaving this ship in such rough seas?

- Do you have a better solution? Amber replies as this reaction annoys her. We are sinking! "She is stupid that one! How can she envisage staying here?

- Sorry, but I'm not going anywhere, continues Brooklyn, not seeing himself jumping from the yacht even if it sinks.

- "She wants to go home, but she doesn't want to jump." It's getting better and better! Amber thought to herself again, exasperated.

- We can't stay here Brooklyn. It's only a matter of minutes before this yacht is completely engulfed, Jessica told her, hoping to reason with her. "This is all my fault... I should never have stayed out at sea seeing that the weather was deteriorating..." she blames herself as she expects the worst.

- I will never be able to throw myself into this sea… I'm too scared! explains Brooklyn before bursting into tears once again.

- I won't jump either, added Noemi so as not to leave her friend alone.

- You're crazy, simply throws Amber.

Time is running out and this, Amber has understood very well. She prefers to leave the yacht to give herself a chance to stay alive. However, this twenty-year-old girl has no intention of going alone and she hopes that Anne-Sophie will agree to follow her. Taking her hand, she sees that her friend is receptive. Suddenly, they move towards the edge of the yacht when they discover that the terrace on the ground floor is completely covered with water. Moreover, given the violence with which the waves crash against the yacht, they are constantly splashed. Taking a deep breath, the two young women jump at the same time, doing their best not to let go of each other's hands. As soon as they find themselves in the water, it doesn't take long before a wave washes them away in a fraction of a second. Realizing that her friends have made the best decision, Aurore follows them. She runs towards the edge before diving without worrying about what will happen. The water level reaches the first floor as the young ladies have all approached the edge. It will not be long before the boat is completely engulfed and, not finding solutions, other young ladies also jump. Finally, there are only three people left on the yacht; Jessica, Brooklyn and Noemi, who is always on board just so as not to abandon her friend.

- Hurry up, Jessica, Brooklyn told her, scared, seeing that the water is rising very quickly.

- How can you ask me such a thing? Do you really think I intend to leave you and Noemi there? I'll never be able to look at myself in a mirror again if I leave you here, Jessica told them, not leaving them much room to maneuver. Besides, I think Noemi is of my opinion.

- I'm sure I'm not going anywhere without you, Brooklyn, the youngest replies immediately as she grabs her friend's hand. If necessary, I will die here with you.

- Is that really what you want Brooklyn? Are you ready to see Noemi and I die effortlessly? asks Jessica as she plays her last card when the sea water is only a few meters away from them.

- I will never be able to swim in it! Brooklyn throws in tears, feeling trapped.

- You just have to leave the yacht and start swimming, Noemi tells her, hoping to reason with her when she begins to worry herself. You will see that we will succeed in finding solid ground.

- What will happen if we drown? inquires the young lady.

- At least we tried! Anyway, it's certain that we will drown if we stay here, answers Jessica.

- I'm so scared... says Brooklyn as she keeps shaking.

- I don't want to die, but I'm not going to leave you there either, Jessica told them. I suggest something Brooklyn… Close your eyes, give me your hand and let's go together. How are you? Anyway, you don't have to worry about Noemi. She will jump at the same time as us.

- You leave me no choice, do you? includes Brooklyn.

- No, I leave you no choice.

- Let's go, Brooklyn surrender.

Brooklyn still won't jump. However, she knows that if she persists, Jessica and Noemi will lose their lives there because of her and that's something she doesn't want. Suddenly, after catching Noemi's hand and giving her a kiss on the cheek, the young lady takes a deep breath and, on top of Jessica, they abandon the yacht together. Noemi has firmly grabbed her friend's hand and yet the force of the waves separates them and they can do nothing but look into each other's eyes as they move away.
