Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Chelsea feels sorry for Amber. Having set off in pursuit of him late, she completely lost track of him. However, she doesn't give up and she carefully searches every corner until she finds it. A little further on, she hears someone crying and, advancing slowly to prevent Amber from running away once more, she finds the young lady curled up on herself behind a large rock.

- Can I talk to you? Chelsea asks him as they approach.

- What for? she continues dryly without bothering to look at her. If it's to say nasty things to me, you can leave.

- I have nothing to reproach you for.

- It's nice to see me like this, isn't it?

- I don't see why it would make me happy. On the contrary…

- Why are you staying with me? This is a big mistake. I'm the head of the group.

- You will see that it will settle down very quickly.

- You always take everything lightly like that?

- I don't take anything lightly, Amber. We're on an island we don't know and it's not such a good idea to be alone.

- I was mean to you all... That's what I deserve.

- It's true that you were terrible with us. We also know what you did to Daphne...

- Ah... she says, disconcerted. And you still think it's a good idea to keep me company? You really want your friends to turn their back on you, you...

- If they turn their back on me, you'll be my friend!

- I'm sure now… You're crazy.

- Does it bother you so much that I want to get closer to you?

- Why? Amber replies immediately.

- Why what?

- Why do you want to get closer to me so much?

- Are you hungry? Chelsea asks him, brushing off the question.

- Yes, I'm hungry...

- How about we go get something to eat together?

- "Why is she so nice to me?" Is she preparing me a bad trick? I find it hard to believe that she agrees to put everyone on their backs for me when we have never spoken. In short, since she is nice to me, it is better to take advantage of it. It might not last anyway, Amber thought to herself before giving him an answer, forcing a smile. Let's go... Anyway, I have nothing better to do.

A funeral silence accompanies the young ladies as they move forward. Knowing nothing of where she is, Amber admires the surroundings; the nature that is there particularly pleases him. Nevertheless, as they go on - and with paranoia beginning to overwhelm her - she senses that Chelsea isn't looking for anything very specific. Feeling the frame-up, Amber braces herself.

- You really take me for a big jug, don't you?

- Excuse me? Chelsea wonders. Why are you telling me this?

- You made me believe that we were going to get something to eat but, in reality, you're taking me away from the others so that they can quietly prepare a dirty trick for me, aren't you?

- What are you talking about, Amber?

- Don't play innocent Chelsea. We've been walking for several minutes, but we're not looking for anything. How long were you planning on taking me for a fool?

- "What is happening to him all of a sudden?" Why is she being so suspicious of me? She doesn't believe me when I tell her I want to be her friend? It's sad that she talks to me like that when I try to be nice to her. " What's wrong?

- I wonder what possessed me to agree to accompany you.

- Can you tell me what I did to make you so suspicious of me?

- No one likes me in this damn band. Why would it be any different with you?

- I'm not them Amber! Chelsea immediately defends itself. Can you remind me of a day when I was mean to you?

- You never were, she concedes after a short moment of reflection.

- That's it!

- Why don't you treat me like the others when you know how much of a bitch I can be?

- Precisely, since you talk about it, why are you like that? Chelsea finally asks him.

- How am I?

- Haughty, arrogant, defiant and mean.

- It's good to know what you think of me. Anyway, you all. If so, why should I change?

- You've been a bitch from the start, but I'm sure you're doing this to hide something. That's what I want to find out.

- What can I be hiding? she asks, stopping.

- I don't know it yet, but my heart tells me that you're not that kind of girl.

- Are you a medium, psychologist? Amber quips.

- I don't understand. I try to take a step towards you but, instead of opening up to you and accepting my friendship, you close up immediately.

- "She really wants to offer me her friendship?" Amber wonders suspiciously. "What tells me she's not bullshitting me?" "Why do you want to be my friend? Nobody can feel me.

- Jessica is with us. Do you really think any of us would take the risk of messing with you in her presence?

- Her presence didn't prevent Anais from telling me what she was thinking...

- I sincerely regret it. I'll talk to her when we get back...

- That's it! That's what I said. As soon as you get back, you're going to tell him everything that happened... You know what? It would be better if we went back to the others...
