Chapter 1 - Prologue

Ghost… Monsters… Mythical creatures… Angel… Demons…

People believe those things are just fiction, hallucinations. Something that was created by people's imagination, from intoxication, lack of sleep or just wanting attention, but even if they try to prove they don't exist with the help of science and technology, it will never stop from existing.

There will be people who believe in such things.

There will always be someone who will prove that it exists, even if they look foolish or insane.

Just like there is light, there will always be darkness. Not everything we know is true or complete. There will be something that was hidden. Like a coin, reality has two-sided.

The Reality and the Unseen.

⛩⛩⛩⛩⛩

The constant chirping of birds, the sound of the continuous flow of water, and the low tapping of the bamboo on the stone fill the peace and silence of the mansion.

If one will listen carefully, one can hear the low murmurs of prayers and songs somewhere in the house.

Looking at the mansion, one would know the value of such. As fancy as it looks, it has being a few hundred old and stand strong from time to time natural disasters. It has been a home of numerous generations of inhabitants and doesn't just shelter the living but also the unseen, well, not malicious spirits. It's given since they are a family of supernatural experts. Or what they called themselves, the Shadows.

From the ancestors to descendants.

They continue to grow their family by marrying into their clan the individuals who have affiliation with the paranormal activity or the supernatural…

… but as the years passes by, those who have such power started to hide, especially with the discrimination, the increase of population, and the decrease of people with abilities and paranormal activities, History has become a myth.

One of the surviving families in the world, not just in Japan is the Fujiwara Clan.

Despite not being as large as in the past, and the members not only focus on the supernatural and paranormal hunting, but also become part of different industries, using their abilities for the benefit of the clan, 600 members is not a small number.

"Elders, we have arrived."

In the Fujiwara Family, there are 10 elders, representing 10 roles, that lead the family. Half of them is usually taking over the members of the clan that still do the paranormal hunting, while the other half looks over the other member on the different industries, thus, the clan thrives more.

"Ahh, Shimei-kun. Please enter."

Two figures immerge from the opened door. Despite being identical twins, everyone can see spot the difference between the two. Not just in their appearance but also their personalities and habits.

"What took you so long?"

"Take a seat."

"You grew quite big since the last time I saw you. Good, good."

"How's your training?"

Questions and greetings were thrown, they didn't get to answer, at least once, since they continue talking, overlapping with one another. In one word, rude. They are not good role models for children. Really. They didn't change a bit since the twins last saw them, which was 5 years ago? They're not sure. They've been busy with their training and school to pay attention to.

The atmosphere in the closed area is not cold or warm. It feels nothing. And that makes him shiver more. Uneasiness started to blow deep in Shimei's stomach as they waited for the reason they were summoned.

Has it been so long since they've been called so, what now?

"Everyone, silence," the eldest from the elders spoke and everyone shut their mouth.

They silently rejoiced. Noise has never been their thing.

"Shimei, Chiyu, you must be wondering why we called for you, yes?" the twin looks at each other then, nods at the elder. "For the past few months, there has been a shift from different realms. It's not big enough to catch the mass attention but, if we leave it be, then the future will not be so good. We're not sure yet of what is truly happening from the other realms, but one thing is for sure. We better prepare for whatever problems they may cause."

The problem, you say… hah…

( ̄  ̄|||)

It's not just a problem, but a national maybe, even global crisis. Well, they're not sure yet, so don't go jumping to conclusions, but treating this crisis as a small problem… these elders. It's not like they'll be the ones facing them.

Chiyu, can't help but internally cringe, his perfect poker face doesn't give away, any of his internal struggles.

He knows that they don't just want to tell them that…

"Most of the members in your section will be sent to different places to help and investigate… things… Shimei…" he said looking away and clearing his throat. "Though, I think, you'll… be the first to transfer… It's in…um…"

Things? What things? So vague!

Sigh. (;⌣̀_⌣́)

Well, if it was about the other realms, then, it's quite a miracle that they have information at all! It's not like they can travel there to observe and investigate, and they don't have the spirit/s that they can ask to information or help them travel in their area.

Well, he'll leave those thoughts for later, since having a more important thing to ask after hearing the hesitation in the elder's voice.

"We're not going to be separated, right? Me and Chiyu…" he heard his brother ask and can't help but look at the other.

The silence was the answer… Shimei didn't hesitate to glare at the elder. The other look at the other way, leaving all the blame on the poor old man.

No, he will not let them separate them. they can ask them anything they want, do incredulous missions but never separate them…

"We'll be together, right?" Shimei asked once again. You can hear that he's not taking 'no' for an answer. His icy glare soften when Chiyu hold the his hand. Giving him a light squeeze

"Shimei-nii-san…" Chiyu whispered. Although, Shimei continued staring at the elders.

"It's not that we're going to separate you. We're just thinking of different plans and strategy…" Another elder said, looking away from the intense stare of Chiyu.

"Don't worry. You'll be together," finally the oldest elder said before sipping the tea. The other elder look at them confused. Maybe the original plan was for the to be sent separately. Ah, good thing, that won't happen. It will be difficult to live without the other.

"Hmm, may I ask, where we will be sent?" Shimei asked, after taking a sigh of relief.

The elder sigh too and answered. "Hmm, it's either Pangaea."

"You'll not be sent there to investigate but you also to learn their cultures and the ways of the roles there… And find people who can help you there. Take care."

🏖🏖🏖🏖🏖

Shimei and Chiyu went back to their rooms as they started to arrange and pack their things for their classes tomorrow. It's not like they can leave fast since, there's still no news about the school they'll be transferring yet. They don't know when they will leave for Pangaea. Maybe days or weeks from now.

Argh…(ノ°益°) ノ

Shimei can't help but mentally curse at them. Everything was happening so fast, and they still didn't have the time to process everything.

They'll be living away from their norm. New environment, different culture, learning another language… well, that off the list since they at least know how to speak English, but still!

And it's only him and his brother! There are missing people to fill up some roles.

Do the elders want them to find them? And he quotes 'It like searching a needle in the haystack'!

There are so many things to do and there's little time to accomplish all of them…

(ノ_<.) ヾ(´ ▽ ` )

"Shimei… you're overthinking again. Don't worry too much, okay? I'm here." Chiyu's voice snapped Shimei from his overwhelming thoughts. He looked at the big hands of his younger brother that gently holds his hands.

"Hmm, you went too far this time," he said looking at their intertwined hands. His hand is larger than his brother, it so cute despite being smaller it was as warm as the other's eyes. He loves it.

"Where am I this time?" Shimei ask with a small smile.

"Ilaty. Your mind has reached Ilaty because of the things running in your head." Chiyu flicked his finger on Shimei's forehead before rubbing if off.

Shimei can't help but stare at his brother before chuckling. His brother is the one of the people who can make him laugh like this. He's just so cute when he's attempting to create a joke. It's not the joke that was funny, but the thought that Chiyu wants to lighten the mood, make him leave his thoughts for a while. It made him extremely happy.

"Ahh, my adorable otuotu and his cute humor."

"Yes, yes I'm adorable and very lovable. We'll talk about our plans later, for now… let's take a nap?"

"Sounds good to me."

They walked to their room and their cat, Shinichi, and their dog, Kaito, happily greet them. They will take their pets to the Pangaea with them. The elders can't stop them.

Shimei and Chiyu looked at each other. They know what's inside the other mind, and can't help but giggle, before getting to their bed and sleep cuddling with each other and their pets.
