[WAKE UP PLAYER JACK!]
I woke up lying on the white sand of the shore of lake Azaelrious, my entire body in agonizing pain from the simultaneous damage and healing that was inflicted on it last night. I checked my lower half to see that I had been completely healed by the holy fire in the lake as there was no longer any holes in my body, however there were some small scars that had been left in the place where my skin had been ripped apart by the spikes. Next to me was the already-dead Lycanrin that had washed up ashore alongside me, its lifeless eyes still open as they stared at me.
"You were honestly one tough bastard" I thought as I was reminded of yesterday. It seemed that the title of Death's successor as well as my two legendary skills were the most contributing factor to my fight yesterday and without them, I would have been dead. Especially if not for the conqueror of death skill which brought me back to life after drowning. I opened my status window in order to check my updated stats since I wasn't able to do so yesterday but damn the stats on my status window had increased by so much!

Well it did make sense that my stats would increase by so much considering that I had just killed an A rank beast. If I remembered correctly, the ranking of beasts according to Zeus was:
MONSTER RANKING TIERS
F rank E rank D rank C rank B rank A rank S rank SS rank SSS rank
This meant that I had actually killed a beast that was among to the ranks which should have been impossible to kill because before i would have found it difficult to kill a single F rank monster let alone an A RANK MONSTER! The main reason that I had been able to defeat it was due to the holy fire that burned in the lake. First of all, I needed to find out why the holy fire changed from burning to healing me during the battle against the Lycanrin. I opened the description of the title "Death's successor" since it was the skill that caused the change in the holy fire's effects
TITLE: DEATH'S SUCCESSOR
A TITLE GIVEN TO CHOSE WHO HAVE BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY DEATH AS HIS SUCCESSOR.
EFFECT 1 {RECENTLY UNSEALED}: IT GREATLY INCREASES YOUR AFFINITY WITH DIVINE OBJECTS AND HENCE ALLOWS YOU TO WIELD DIVINE OBJECTS THAT WOULD NORMALLY BE FATAL TO ORDINARY MORTALS WITH LITTLE TO NO PENALTY.
EFFECT 2 {SEALED}: YOU MUST COMPLETE A SPECIFIC FEAT TO UNLOCK THIS EFFECT
EFFECT 3 {SEALED}: YOU MUST COMPLETE A SPECIFIC FEAT TO UNLOCK THIS EFFECT
So, the first effect of the title was the one that saved me since holy fire is considered a divine object but the fact that titles held power was actually very useful and surprising information. Also, the system said that the effect was recently unlocked however I don't remember doing anything that would unlock the effect. Wait! ….. the skill was unlocked when I was being burned by the holy fire which meant being severely injured by the holy fire was the trigger for unlocking the first effect which meant I would have to go through an even worse ordeal than being burned alive by holy fire in order to unlock the other sealed effects.
I don't think I'm capable of going through such a painful experience ever again but judging by how bad my luck has been so far, I would probably end up in an even worse situation soon.
The very thought made my skin crawl.
There were more updates to the system such as the introduction of a new section {INVENTORY} as well as other minor updates to the library section. I opened the inventory title on the status window which expanded into a storage system similar to an RPG game in which there were multiple slots with each slot capable of fitting a certain number of the same item in it. In one slot was an item was a large circular red marble and in another slot were six spikes similar to the ones on the Lycanrin' mane. I opened the information of the red marble and the following information popped up.
LYCANRIN BEAST CORE
THIS IS THE BEAST CORE OF THE MIDDLE-CLASS A – RANK MONSTER, LYCANRIN, WHICH CONTAINS THE MANA AND LIFEFORCE OF THE BEAST WITHIN IT. THE CORE CAN BE USED TO CRAFT ARTIFACTS AND WEAPONS AS WELL AS CRAFT VARIOUS POTIONS AND ELIXIRS. IT CAN ALSO BE EXCHANGED FOR CHAOS POINTS IN THE PLAYER STORE.
I then opened the next slot that contained the six spikes and the following information was revealed.
SPIKES (6)
THESE ARE SPIKES OBTAINED FROM THE MANE OF THE A-RANK MONSTER LYCANRIN. THEY ARE AS TOUGH AS ORICHALCUM BUT WEAKER THAN MITHRIL AND CAN BE USED AS INGREDIENT FOR CRAFTING WEAPONS. IT CAN ALSO BE EXCHANGED FOR CHAOS POINTS IN THE PLAYER STORE.
The spikes were as strong as orichalcum which meant that they were stronger than iron, steel or copper weapons. Zeus said to think of everything in a similar manner to an RPG game and hence if I was to think of the items in that manner then being able to gain such strong spikes as well as a powerful beast core meant that this truly was a strong monster. Based on the distribution of rewards by system from killing the Lycanrin, I made the assumption that monsters dropped loot that was on par with their rank however I would have to confirm this later when I killed another monster.
Based on the system information about players, it would seem that players were also divided into ranks according to their levels and skills in a similar manner to monsters such that the weakest player was F-rank while the strongest was around SSS- rank. Most players, such as myself, usually starts at F-rank and hence based on this theory, then in my eyes the rewards given to me weren't enough considering the fact that I had just killed an A-rank monster which an F-rank player such as myself couldn't even dream of killing. That is when I noticed the new skill in my status window called "Telekinesis". I opened up its description and to my surprise it was exactly the type of skill I thought it would be.
