Chapter 7 - The flashback (The Confession)

Never have I ever thought that I will lose my heart for a Jinn (Ghost) Laila. I said with a trembling voice! Jaw dropped, eyes popped out with shock, wait for a second! What? Said Laila. Let me speak Laila, I said desperately! Laila took a deep breath, wiping the sweat off her forehead she asked me to continue talking.

The fort experience has left an indelible imprint on my heart, and I can't stop thinking about it. Haya, I understand. But do you realize how dangerous this could be for you? Yes, I said, I'm aware of everything, and I have a feeling that I'm being helped by divine intervention, so I'm fine and safe. I'm not in any way harmed. Nothing has bothered me in the least. I also wish I could show you his lovely face, with its innocent expressions, care, and affection, and the way he presented me with a rose.

You know what I mean, Laila? I'm madly in love with him and long to see him again. Laila exclaimed, "I'm getting goosebumps and shivers down my spine as I hear you talking." What if that isn't his true appearance? She mentioned the shapeshifting. If that's the case, I'd be curious to see what he looks like. I stated firmly. But, Haya, I think you should let it go! I'm not passing judgment on you; I'm concerned about you. You could face consequences, and it's not safe at all, according to Laila.

That's the main point here: I'm not afraid. And I have faith in God. I have no bad vibes. Also, I am aware of the presence of someone around me at all times, whether at home or elsewhere. Haya, you're scaring me now! Laila exhales. Please, for the love of God, get rid of this situation; it is not normal. Oh, don't be afraid, honey; as long as I'm here, no one can hurt you. I hugged Laila tightly, and we both sobbed.

After about five minutes, two of the boys appeared out of nowhere and said, "Hey!" What's going on? Having the slick naughty smile. We both felt awkward when we looked at each other. As it was not a common practice in the Middle East Saudi Arabia. We stood up and walked away, ignoring them completely, towards the resort. They followed us, shouting unethical words, and one of them asked for my phone number. I came to a halt and gave him the doomsday stare. What lovely eyes! He stated. Laila dragged me to the resort before I could react, telling me to ignore them. And I kept quiet for her sake because I know she is afraid of awkward fights and panicked situations. Though I was enraged because I cannot and will not tolerate any form of harassment. When we arrived at the resort, everyone was preparing for the bar-b-que. Please don't bring up those idiots, Haya, said Laila. Okay! I mumbled, raising my brows.

We assisted everyone in preparing the dinner and made preparations by the shore, as the bar-b-que was supposed to be done at the seashore. It was a relaxing and entertaining experience. I thanked everyone for taking care of me. Make sure you eat well as well, advised Atif. While he was talking, I noticed Laila blushing and lost in thought, deeply smiling. As soon as she realized I was staring at her intently. She stopped smiling and asked, "What's up?"

We could hear people panicking and congregating around the boating area. Out of curiosity, Atif went to investigate what had occurred. We could hear the ambulances' sirens as they raced to the beach. It was getting a lot more serious. When Atif returned, he told us that a boy had fallen into the sea while boating and didn't know how to swim. He almost drowned and had to be rescued.

Hearing the entire situation gave us goosebumps; I hope everyone is safe. That's too bad, because as soon as I said that, a light breeze blew in and I could smell the roses. I was stunned and unable to respond; however, the silent reaction was noticeable and noted by Laila. She immediately took my hand in hers and said, "It'll be fine, honey." Laila's encouragement meant the world to me. I prayed in my heart that she be blessed and that her life be filled with joy for the rest of her life. The day came to an end, and we went to the resort to rest.

Have you ever had feelings for someone Laila? I asked her as I lay in bed. She looked at me, puzzled, and struggled to speak. What exactly is it, Laila? Please tell me. Yes, she confirmed. I've had a huge crush on Atif for the past two years. OH MY GOODNESS! I asked, "Are you serious?" When you were blushing to see him talk, I had a thought. Yes, I am madly in love with him! While applying lotion to her hands, Laila said something naughty. Well, that's great to hear. How do you manage to keep your feelings hidden or express them at all while he is right in front of you? I have good emotional control, which you should definitely learn. She giggled.

You didn't even tell me about it earlier, Laila! Yes, because it didn't bother me in the first place. I chose to keep it hidden. However, you are now aware of it. I'd like to keep it a secret as well, she begged. Of course, my dear! I made her a promise. But tell me what you're expecting. Do you think Atif will propose to you? I don't know Haya, and I'm unsure about everything, so I don't expect anything. I keep my cool and pray to God that if it is meant to be, it will come my way.

And if not, I don't need to chase after anyone, especially since he's apparently interested in someone else! Oh! Laila, I adore you. I was crying because I felt so bad for her that I hugged her tightly and rested my head on her shoulder for a few moments. She tapped my back and told me to look after myself. Be strong and heal quickly; I'm more concerned about you. And I adore you as well. Take a deep breath and let's go for a walk along the beach. Oh, I'd be delighted. I wiped my tears away.

As we walked out of the resort, we noticed Atif smoking in the corner, and Laila made a funny yet naughty eye contact with me, and we both laughed. Where are you going, guys? Atif inquired. We're just going for a walk along the beach, said Laila. Make sure to return soon, as it is getting late. Sure thing, she said. And how do you feel now, Haya? Atif inquired gently. Thank you so much for asking. I feel much better now. I mentioned being shy. Oh, don't be so formal, Haya; we're here to help you. I thanked him again, and we walked away, bringing the conversation to an end.

Take care of yourselves, yelled Atif from behind. Sure thing, I said politely. Omg! Have you noticed his jawline? Laila admitted that she sometimes loses control of her emotions. Laila, you're a little too amusing. I believe he was paying attention to what you were saying. You didn't notice he was on the phone, did you? She laughed as he held his phone to his ear as we walked away. Really? I barely gave him a proper look. I mumbled, taking care to keep a safe distance from Atif.

As we made our way to the beach. Wow! Laila exclaimed as we watched the mesmerizing scene of the moonlight hitting the sea; the waves were high because it was a full moon. Let's just sit here tonight and listen to what the sea has to say, I suggested to Laila. Haya, do you know anything? Laila inquired. What exactly is it? Tell me, please. Did I mumble? She said, "You are deeper than this sea." I laughed aloud, telling her that she, too, is a joker. And we sat there quietly watching the endless sea and listening to the waves. We nearly got lost in it.

Even as I tried to ignore him, I couldn't stop thinking about the magical man. A massive wave slammed into the shore, drenching us. Laila screamed, "My clothes are all wet, and I can taste this salty seawater!" Just watch out for the crabs, they might interrupt your fictitious love story, warned Laila, and we laughed! I'm not scared, baby, I assured her. And we continued to take in the scenery.

A few minutes later, a boy approached me and said, "Excuse me, I've been looking for you." I need to speak with you. Being genuinely messed up as a result of interruption. We stood up straight away. I was perplexed because I didn't recognize him. Laila mumbled, "He's the same guy who was involved in harassment." Oh my goodness! Laila gripped my hand tightly and said, "Let's go." We were walking away when he began apologizing and pleading with us to listen to him. Hold on, I said to Laila. What exactly is it? I inquired of him. You can try these filthy tactics on someone else, but we're not interested. I'll call the security guards if you don't leave us alone.

Calm down, Laila, I said quietly. I'm here to apologize; I'm sorry and guilty, and I've been looking for you. I wanted to let you know that my friend who misbehaved with you accidentally fell into the sea while boating and nearly drowned; he is currently fighting for his life at a nearby hospital. Oh my goodness! We were stunned and at a loss for words. The boy begged for an apology once more. Laila told him to relax and that his friend would be fine soon. We had forgiven him. We are deeply sorry for what has occurred, I stated solemnly. He thanked us and walked away.

I was still stunned. Laila and I looked at each other, speechless. As the lovely scent of roses persisted. My eyes popped open as a result of my uncertainty. Laila asked me to relax. She had no idea I had bothered to scent roses this time. Let's go back and pray that everything is okay, said Laila. I don't want to hurt anyone, Laila, I cried. It's not your fault, Haya; don't blame yourself. Let's hope he recovers quickly and learns his lesson.

We returned to the resort and attempted to sleep, as it was already late and we needed to get up early to see the sunrise at the beach. I couldn't stop thinking about the boy. Is it just a coincidence? Why did I perfume roses? What is the link between everything? Why does this give me a strong sense of the magical guy's (Ghost's) presence around me? Fraught with thoughts I fell asleep…
