Two grown men in a companies canteen were talking with each other.
Drake, the tiny guy whispered.
"I still remember how you used to run away at the sight of a female. What changed huh?"
Mikey, the jacked guy with muscles bulging out of every nook and cranny of his shirt, replied.
"I don't know bro, no one wanted to talk with me as much as her, generally when I run away the story ends. But she kept contacting me, and it just felt like she saw something in me, so I don't mind giving it a try. But still, do you think she likes me?" Mikey said while twiddling his fingers.
Drake bursted out laughing.
"Bro, you look like a little girl in love. Be confident. The worst that can happen is an eww, and you are used to the worst." Drake started laughing again while wiping his tear.
Suddenly a beautiful-looking girl with eyelashes, long black nails, high heels poked Drake. The fingernails were so sharp that Drake jumped out of his chair with surprise. This was Pooh, the famous daughter of the CEO.
Pooh said in a very gentle voice
"Don't bully Mikey "
The voice was so low that only Drake could hear it. He got chills all over his body. He ran towards the wall because of the flight or fight.
Pooh laughed and talked with the guys, this time in the normal voice.
"Why are you so scared, I was just kidding. What were you guys talking about? You looked like two little girls discussing their favorite Disney princess."
Mikey laughed looking at the kind of face Drake was making.
"Look how the turns have tabled"
Drake was cringing at this love-sick guy's weird jokes, he knew this was his way of making himself look cool in front of her prospective mate.
"Don't you two have a date today? I will let you guys be. Have fun. I will wait for you at the usual time in front of the gym."
After saying this Drake didn't wait for a reply and vanished like he was never here.
After that Mikey and Pooh went to an upscale restaurant to have Lunch. Mikey took a half day from his job today.
"How is the food?" Mikey asked
"The food is great, but why are you twiddling your fingers since we got here? And what is the surprise you were talking about?" Pooh asked with a glimmer in her eyes.
Looking at Pooh's anticipating face, Mikey thought it was the perfect time to do this.
"Pooh, will you go out with me?"
Mikey finally did it, he has never dared to ask anyone out, due to his fear of rejection, but he finally did it. Pooh was always kind to him, even though he hasn't spent much time with any other girl. He knew that no normal acquaintances talk with each other in this way, but Mikey noticed something that he didn't want to believe. He saw Pooh smug for a second, it was only for a split second, but it couldn't escape Mikey's keen observation and insane reflexes.
Pooh now seemed shocked, like someone close to her just died. She looked surprised. She slowly looked up at Mikey and asked.
"Have you ever seen your face in the mirror? You look more like an Ape than a human. Why would I ever go out with you?"
Mikey knew something was wrong, but this was one of his phobias, a phobia of rejection. He was overcome with memories.
Pooh picked up the glass of wine on her table, but just before she could throw the wine at Mikey, he pulled the table cloth, and the wine spilled on Pooh.
Pooh was angered, but she kept her mouth shut, she was waiting for Mikey to ask for an explanation so she could berate him even more.
Mikey was overwhelmed with everything that was happening, so he did what he was best at, getaway. He stood up and turned around ready to leave. That's when Pooh exclaimed.
"You don't want to know the reason behind why I can't go out with you?"
Mikey's filter was not working, at this point, his cognitive ability was not functioning.
"Do you want me to ask you?"
Pooh was flustered, she didn't expect this outcome.
"Yes, I mean no. Who do you even think you are? Utha fjdaks hafsi ka fdkj afdi dafh adfh ikjl. "
Mikey stopped listening to Pooh after the first sentence, he just walked away. The moment he was sure no one was around him, a tear left his eye.
"Me? Gorilla? God, why would you make me look like a Gorilla? I hate Gorillas. Those chicken-legged pointy heads. Even King Kong got a girl for himself, will I ever be able to get one? I wish gorillas went extinct, then no one will notice I look like one."
While getting out of the restaurant, he picked up the wine bottle from the table and was drinking from the bottle while he was on his way back.
At 5 when his office ends, Drake called Mikey, asking about the date, and what did she say.
"Hey bro, what happened at your date? Do I have a new bhabhi now?" {Bhabhi is the wife of your friend.}
Drake heard some sniffing from the other side of the phone.
"He Mikey where are you? What happened, say something?"
Drake knew he shouldn't have shouted, if he had kept calm he would have been able to help, but it wasn't too late, because Drake knew the spot where Mikey would go when he was sad.
Drake bought a ticket of Zoo and kept wandering around till he found Mikey. He was sitting outside the cage of Apes. He hated Gorillas. He hated them so much he wanted to punch one. He was drinking his wine while looking at the gorillas with hatred.
Drake took slow steps towards Mikey, he knew Mikey was intoxicated, and he didn't want to get punched by him.
He closed the distance with soft steps, and sat beside him, Of course, Mikey knew Drake was coming, but he didn't want to talk right now.
The Alpha Ape looked at Mikey, and he instantly recognized the blood lust. Even though he wasn't in the wild, he has experienced his fair share of blood lust.
Mikey looked at the guard and asked him
"Can I fight with the Gorilla?"
Guard looked at Mikey like he was crazy. Who in their right mind would want to fight a 500 lb gorilla. He was lost for words. Mikey was scary too. After gathering his nerves he told Mikey
"He is the alpha and omega of the group. He was born in the Zoo and is the leader of the tribe. He doesn't care about anything other than mating and eating. If he likes your girl he will snatch her no questions asked. No one dares to look him in the eye. Even the lions are scared of him. Generally, gorillas avoid fights but not him. Who knows maybe he is a monster from another world or something. All of his stats are off the charts. Good luck for us that these animals can't think much, or we would have ceased to exist."
Mikey looked at the guard and gulped.
"He keeps bullying Ruby, I want to take revenge. How can he bully our sweet Ruby!!"
Guard was shocked.
"Why are you so protective of a gorilla, Ruby is safe and sound, you don't have to worry about her."
Drake who was quiet till now started chuckling.
"Looks like you are back to normal."
Mikey was intoxicated, he looked at Drake and told him while slurring.
"But, don't you want to save Ruby?"
Drake said
"Rules are rules, and you shouldn't think about gorillas using human standards."
After arguing for a bit, Mikey gave up.
Both Drake and the Zoo guard were laughing at Mikey.
