This time it was Dan who remained unflustered as he recalled the late-night things he had read, sent by his friend Dan. Being a 'Callow' was just a start, the next thing he read was..... He still couldn't believe what he was doing to repay his friend,
"I won't ask you anything, don't worry. But I want to tell you that I am your guardian from now on. Therefore, if there is anything you want to share you could share it with me unhesitatingly. Although it may be hard, You have to trust me, Young man."
If Crey wasn't busy assessing the situation he would surely have rolled his eyes. The result would have been a little better if he had said those words in some other situation or at least with a friendly smile on his face, not this grim face. Crey still didn't respond back letting him continue.
"It is your Uncle who has called you here. Because today's exam is going not only from us but also from him. Go inside he is waiting for you. You need to do well today. It may be the turning point of your life."
Crey stopped everything as he heard the mention of his uncle. Only now did he realize that they had stopped in front of a room and Dan was motioning him to walk inside. Crey was skeptical but still, he walked inside after opening the door of the darkroom.
Dan who watched the boy walking inside closed his eyes as he remembered last night's situation. He was still having doubts about what he was doing and Who this uncle was who was controlling the whole situation behind the curtains? Ruthus didn't tell him but he was not that much of a fool to not realize that it was his Uncle who was directing Ruthus to use him.
Dan knew he had to pay back his friend, and also he had trust in him but still, he was shocked that he was doing exactly what he had been told to do. As he should have contacted the Academy council after discovering this information rather than helping them to keep it a secret.
But looking at this boy, he could sympathize with him as he had observed his every action from the moment he started talking. His calculating look also didn't elude his gaze which further increased his perception of him. If it was true...all of that he has been told after he called Ruthus last night after reading information because it was too hard to believe.
"He is not a normal boy, you must have guessed that much by his fake records, unclear past, dubious identity, his unclear strength, and especially the method I am using to help him. It is all because he was an….Assassin.
A killer raised by a group of killers we all know - "Spyder", a tool made for murdering but also…..he is a boy who managed to run away from that past. He is one of those who want to leave that darkness to come out in the light. And to assist him to achieve this, Dan I need your help."
Dan opened his eyes as he found Crey standing before him. He was surprised and looked at his watch, to his shock ten minutes had already passed by since he was busy with his conflicting thoughts. He looked at the young man but there was no change in his expressions but still…..there was something different.
He is angry….no, maybe shocked, or sad, ….something else. But he is disturbed surely it is something related to….
"General Dan, shall we go? He told me about the injection. I am ready to take it."
Dan collected himself as he nodded and led the way to the inner department. While going there both of them remained silent, especially Dan as he was giving him the space. He thought that he needed it after some serious discussion there.
Reaching the room, just as they were about to enter Dan stopped him and surprised Crey looked at the serious man.
"Crey, are you sure you want to do this? You know you don't have to do this. Giving yourself such a massive handicap before the Exam could very well cost your life.
I am just saying you don't….have to take this test of your uncle seriously. I mean, we can act….if you want…. that you took it but in reality...."
For the first time, Crey after coming here smiled from the bottom of his heart. He chuckled,
"Don't worry, General Dan! He wants to test me, so I will take the test. I owe him too much, and this something is too small…..in front of his promised 'prize' to me."
Dan frowned heavily, not understanding what this uncle and nephew were playing at. And what does he mean by prize? Is he bribing him or forcing him to take this difficulty? No, it shouldn't be so simple as this. He should just….let him do this.
"Ok, I understand but if you have any concerns please don't hesitate to tell me. Here I am your guardian and I will hope you return alive. "
Crey smiled as he walked inside and there he saw a physician ready with an injection containing a transparent fluid in it. He quickly removed his shirt and laid on his stomach on the observation bed.
The physician wearing a surgical mask nodded to General Dan and then moved towards Crey. He casually checked the back of the neck of Crey and then after finding the precise location, he inserted the ultra-thin injection needle to the back of his neck exactly in the cervical region of the vertebrae. He slowly released the injection fluid into his spinal cord.
Crey, who was lying down, began to feel the burning sensation begin to rise in his body. He tried to move his hands and suddenly found that his whole body had gone into paralysis. But he didn't go into outrage rather tried to steady himself as it was not the first time he was getting this injection.
The physician turned around and lifted the arms of Crey and then released it to discover that he had completely lost strength in his whole body. At this moment he was completely vulnerable. Except for his head, his whole body was in a state of paralysis right now. Most stunned right now was Dan who knew it was going to happen but was still as shocked.
'How much this boy trusts his uncle, to take this risky drug - putting himself in such a vulnerable state just after one word from him.'
"General Dan, Genetic Recombination Drug level 2 has been administered."
