Chapter 27 - Major Kayon Moy

At the time when this exam was suggested during panel meetings, there was quite a conflicting reaction by many Professors of the University which was pretty genuine considering the danger level of such an exam to students. Especially those who were leaning more on giving students easy time through exams than putting their life at risk just to give them entry into the Academy.

"This is ridiculous...you want to throw all students in such a hostile environment, there to die….. not only without any instructions, weapons, or strategy. You even expect them to achieve their goal in only 'one night' that too without any food or water supplies.

Outrageous! Is this coming from you, Major Moy?

And not finished, You want them to even separate them from forming groups…...wait let me give you a better suggestion just why don't you straight shoot them in their heads with a gun, Major?"

The old Professor shouted so loud into the conference meet while waving the tab that was showing the proposal for the brand new exam for students to enter the Academy. He was so angry that his face flushed red. If not for his little sanity, He was ready to jump over the table to reach and then break open the head of the Major who had proposed this.

The recently qualified young Major - Kayon Moy, who had formulated this exam, stood up to answer these accusations by the Professor community cornering him. But in contrast to old Professor's worked up attitude he was smiling amicably as he started his answer to the panel with just a few words,

"Well, I would really like to shoot them if the council permits me! That would be a lot easier haha..."

"....."

"...."

There was an awkward silence in the room in place of laughter which he was hoping for. Glimpsing at the unamused faces of the staff of the Academy consisting of Military Officers and old Professors, the young Major coughed to hide his embarrassment after making that sleazy joke. He quickly got himself serious enough to answer the case,

"Actually, just now seeing your heartfelt concerns to students I have decided not to answer your questions, Professor Berkley. Because the point goes much farther than the scope of this….Academy."

He gestured around while keeping his tablet down on the table, on which he had prepared straight answers for questions of Professors.

"Rather than that, I would just like to point out a few questions to the council. And if you can respond to them honestly, I will give up my push to conduct this exam this time for entrance."

There was suddenly a din of noise among all people seated here. Some wanted him to just answer questions straight up and don't go into unrelated topics, while some wanted to see what he wanted to say. Finally, The dean of the academy nodded as he gave him a chance to present his case. The noise quickly settled down with his decision.

"I would like to ask only a few questions since here the people sitting are top brass of Earth's government, and could accurately represent the main factions of Earth itself.

When was the last time we managed to catch any leads about the leader of Spyder(A terrorist Organization)?

Wait wait….let's actually leave that!

Can you just confide in me when the last time we managed to arrest or kill one of Spyder lieutenants, if not the Actual 'Boogeyman' Leader? "

The faces of every Military Officer sitting here turned downward, even the Professors unrelated to the military field could feel the gloom. All of them were intelligent people who could understand his implication from just one question - he was directly questioning their capabilities.

Just with one question, there was obvious unhappiness settled in the room. There was no answer to his questions because they….seriously had no answer or in other words had 'face' to answer his honest questions.

But from the looks of it, The young major was not satisfied with this amount of disrespect yet as he continued,

"Ooookay!, let me simplify it once more. What is our rank in the solar system, despite being the origin of mankind? Huh, anyone?...." Now it was him who was getting slowly livid.

A General spoke out without much thinking, "….in which field?"

But then shut his mouth up suddenly as the young major and every general shifted their gaze toward him. He very quickly realized that he had f*cked up!

"Very Good question General Argon, Right...Haha...field! Actually, can any of you just tell me in any field.….any one SUB-Field we excel on any other planet? Even the moon has its own place in the solar system for its best scientific research and medicine. For what is Earth famous for?"

"....."

Now there was pin-drop silence in the room. Major Moy looked around but all around Generals, Professors, Elite among Elites were sitting still as if it wasn't them to whom he was asking questions. He was frustrated just because of this, ….this habit of non-confronting the real problem or even acknowledging it. But he was not done yet!

"I think even now it is too difficult for you all. Since nobody here appears to want to reply to my questions. Let me simplify it even more!

What was the last time we won the mecha competition, or solar system fighter championship? Those are just competitive games for Young Fighters, right? Not real things, yes?"

But instead this time he answered himself,

"I can tell you that if you have trouble remembering. It was around five years ago when we first broke the record by reaching the finals for the first time in our decades of history. And the kid to achieve that was me.

But what happened after that….I got invitations from every other planet to excel but I resisted because I thought... I-We..could change the Earth this time. But I was so foolish and naive back then."

Kayon Moy shook his head as he knocked on the table in disappointment. It was unknown whether he was feeling disappointment for his past decision or circumstances.

"After five years of harsh struggle in this rotten capitalist government, barely now have I managed to secure a place in this council where I have the voice to say or do something. Isn't it pathetic?"
