"Are you a fool!?" Tess whispered forcefully, grabbing Marcus's arm. "Can't you hear that? Regardless of Caleveh, the syndicate are still here, and if you just stroll out there carelessly then you'll end up getting yourself killed, along with the people there."
The incessant sounds that emanated from the space persisted even now. Metal tools crashed into the floor, shouts and laughter flowed freely from the mouths of the captors, and pained, fatigued grunts of exertion came from those who had been forced into servitude.
Marcus seemed to not care about any of that anymore, now instead focused on the newly-discovered elemental like a robot programmed for a specific purpose. During the training Tess had oversaw in the month prior to the mission to the village, she had noted that he seemed rash and impulsive in his decision making. Despite her analysis, she never thought that he would so easily risk so many people.
