Chapter 19 - SABINA'S STORY

"I don't know where to start the story?"

"Just tell me why you are like this. Take it easy because I'm not going anywhere. I want to calm down after hearing your story, Sabina."

Sabina's sentence sounded sad when she looked at Brian so that Brian couldn't bear to ask Sabina to tell a story. But curiosity and curiosity pierced Brian's heart and might stop when he got the answer.

"I don't even know what I am. After the accident three years ago, I became like this."

Sabina started her story. She looked down, then looked up again to look at Brian's face in front of her.

Brian continued to watch while waiting for Sabina to make a sound that would get him an answer from there.

"That night it rained heavily, the road was slippery, I was driving the car while speeding. While crying I hugged the doll."

Sabina began to tell the story then pointed at the doll that was on top of the wardrobe. After that, she spoke again.

"It was raining very hard at that time. Like supporting me to let out my anger. I screamed out the pain in my chest,

"My vision is blurry because of the rain that continues to cover the road I'm on. Until finally I feel my car go up to the sidewalk and not long-"

Sabina stopped her story for a moment before appearing to let out a ragged breath.

"Everything was dark before I realized that I had an accident,"

"I don't understand what happens is like. I don't know why when I realized my body was able to get out through the car door."

"I saw my car wrecked after hitting a big banyan tree. Then I turned to look into the car. I saw my body was already unconscious in the car with a bloody head position, maybe because it hit the steering wheel. And I saw my hand was still holding the teddy bear earlier."

"I was scared, weak, and didn't know what to do when I saw my own body in such a state,"

"I tried to touch my body, but I couldn't. Several times I kept trying the same thing, but still, my efforts were in vain. I can only cry and scream as loud as I can by the side of the car."

"Not long ago, I saw a black shadow approaching my body in the car. From its shape like an old grandmother. Her long hair hung down, her eyes were black, and she had long fangs sticking out of her mouth. She scared me, so I took a few steps back."

"I backed away, but she didn't come towards me and went right through the car. She immediately occupied my body in the same position as my position, "

"Gradually the shadow of the old grandmother disappeared and what surprised me, I saw my body was able to move to open the car door before falling."

"I was shocked and frightened when I believed that my body had been possessed by the scary shadow of the old granny earlier. And what I hate the most is when I see the expression on my face which is covered in blood but instead laughs like mocking at me."

"I ventured closer to my body again. I kept trying to get back into my body the way she did before, but couldn't."

"What I do seems useless and continues to penetrate my own body,"

"I screamed for her to get out of my body, but she just smiled through my face."

"For God's sake, Brian... I'm so sad, hopeless, and don't know what to do."

'I'll borrow your body and you stay in your doll's body. I assure you, I will not waste this body, hahaha!'

"That's what she said from my lips. She seemed to mock and laugh at me using my own body,"

"Not long, my lover came. He helped me by carrying me and getting me into his car. At that time I was still in shock and only realized when the car was starting to run."

"I chased the car. I continued to run for tens of meters. But my body, which is what it is today, feels pulled. I don't know what that old woman did to me, but I was pulled back to my original position, right next to the doll."

"I can only cry in confusion, without being able to do anything. I screamed as loud as I could under the pouring rain."

Brian could see Sabina's sadness even though he couldn't find the tears on her sad face.

Sabina looked up again and seemed to want to continue her story again.

"Not long Tata passed. I told you about Tata, right? She who at that time could see me decided to take me home with her. Even though at first Tata had ignored you by just passing by. But because her heart is very good, she asked and offered to live with him here."

"Hmm… The story of my life is like a drama, but that's the truth. I still think until now, why my life can be like this? And without realizing all this has passed for three years."

Sabina smiled sadly after being seen ending her life story.

"Sabina, you have to be patient, okay? Allah will not give you a life test like this if there is no wisdom behind everything. There must be something good in what happened to you."

Brian tries to cheer up by comforting Sabina, who has to repeat the sad story for him.

Brian immediately felt guilty after knowing how hard life had been for Sabina.

"So, what's your plan now? Do you want to just keep quiet like this?" Brian asked.

"I don't know what to do, Brian. I am sincere and willing because I also can not do much. I'm locked in the doll. I can't go anywhere and be free from it."

Again, Sabina showed the white teddy bear that was on top of the cupboard. The doll is neatly wrapped in glass plastic so it doesn't get dusty.

"So when you meet Tata, why don't you just ask her for help? Why did it have to wait so many years until this day?"

"Aren't you and your family still in the same city? You also remember who you and your family are. Tata can help you, Sabina!"

Brian said what he thought was reasonable. Why did she have to wait that long when there was Tata who could help her return to her family?

"The life that Tata is living is already hard, who am I to add to her burdens? I'm very grateful for having been given a place to live by her. I can't imagine that I'd have to wander anywhere when I'm like this," Sabina answered sadly.

"Okay, I understand, Sabina. Pardon my question. I'm asking what I think without hearing the reasons from your point of view," Brian apologized for immediately feeling guilty about Sabina's decision.

Both fell silent.

Brian looked at Sabina's sad face with thoughts and feelings of pity.

'I can feel how you feel, Sabina. Lifelike this without any certainty, can't do anything and anywhere, because you have to be silent and locked your soul in a doll which is an inanimate object,'

'Now I know that you are a human, whose body was seized by an evil creature,'

'Now I know that you are a young woman who has a family you have always longed for,'

'Now I know that you are just a weak woman who naturally wants to be happy with your life,'

'But what can you do with all these limitations? You live in a room with a limited scope like this. But most importantly, you can endure the hardships and let go and accept what Allah has given you,'

'I wish I could give or do something for you, Sabina. I want to reduce the burden of your life and carve happiness on your face,'

Brian said firmly in his heart to be able to help and give the best for Sabina.

"Sabina, you can ask for my help, as much as possible I will help you, I will try for you!" Brian spoke to Sabina.

"No, Brian. I don't want to bother other people. I've had enough of making Tata's life and your life uncomfortable here. Especially since Miss K harmed you like this."

"Come on, don't do anything to me. You just have to be a good listener and respect me as a woman. It's made me happy. I feel guilty if I have to expect more than what God has given me at this time, "

"Please, Brian. Don't bother yourself because of me."

Sabina refuses the help Brian offers. Because of not wanting to bother other people. But Brian knew it wasn't what Sabina wanted. Brian knew Sabina longed for her normal life.

'Okay, Sabina, if you don't want to ask me for help, but I'll still try so you can get what you've been missing all this time,'

'Your life and the love of your family that you miss will work for me. Please keep on praying, Sabina. I hope I can bring you happiness,' Brian persisted in his heart even though Sabina kept refusing.

"Just pray for the best. Ask Allah to show you a way out. I'm sure one day you can be happy like you used to be," Brian continued his good wishes with his words to Sabina.
