Mr. Fanny mumbled, "I can't stop loving you, Lucy for that singular act. What more can I say but to seal up my love for you. Lucy," he called in an emphatic tone.
"Yes, baby boo," she replied, feeling heavy as her heartbeat thudded greatly with emotions.
After a hush of silence he said calmly, "Will you marry me?" he asked gently and waited for her response, before saying again, "will you be the only woman I can call wife?"
Hastily unable to fight back her tears of joy, she said, "Yes, I will marry you, Fanny, I will," she wept bitterly, "Just that we will have to wait for twenty years when we will be out before we wed."
"No," he protested, "My parole will be in one week, and I will visit you in one week , then in one of the days, I would engage you with a ring and have the prison lawyer join us in a court wedding. Do you understand me?" he said, and wiped the tears that welled in his eyes.
